State of play
Over 90% of R&D activity in the Mediterranean region is carried out by public universities and research centres (Vs 54% Europe)
Low investment in R&D: between 0.2% and 0.7% of GDP
Poor valorisation in terms of publications and patents
A brain drain phenomenon
Disparities : i.e Tunisia’s and Jordan’s performance very similar to (or even better than) some European southern countries

mainly located in Tunisia (12) and Morocco (9)
