1) Operating principles

2) Organizing the contest

A)PRONOSTIC FILE

The PRONOSTIC file must be sent to all participants to the contest, rename each file with a unique name toprevent them from being erased during files import stage.

The PRONOSTIC file comes from the MANAGER file, some features are visible but invalidated (columns 1N2,import bets, eraser)

The contest can be organized in one or more stages of prognosis such as a phase for the groups stage and asecond phase for the finals (quarter, semi and final) stage. Refer to appendix 3 for more details.

NAME / FIRST NAME

Each participant must enter his Name / first name (between 1 and 20 characters) in the two fields in Matchs tab:

The results will be displayed in red if these two fields are not set properly and the PRONOSTIC file cannot be importedin MANAGER file.

GROUPS STAGE

During the GROUP stage (games 1 to 24) draws

may occur in the ranking table. In this case it isnecessary to manually adjust the ranking bychoosing the team of your choice using the dropmenu [1].Meaning of alerts :Group A : switched to manual mode and no errordetected.Group B : switched to manual mode but one ormore errors are detected, Portugal team appearstwice in the ranking.Poule C : two rows are empty.Poule D : no draw, automatic classification.

Any abnormal situation in the classifications willblock the prognoses and file import will be denied.

Euro manager follows criterias a), b) and c) of UEFA Regulations (page 9, chapter 8.07):

FINALS STAGE

In case of draw (as seen onopposite picture, game 25), itis necessary to input thepenalty results in columnS.A.G [1]. This score is onlyused to determine the winningteam and is not part of theprognosis.

B)MANAGER FILE

The file MANAGER manages the prognosis contest, it may accept until 100 players in different languages. It offers a complete schedule of points for each stage and a rating calculation for each team. Simply enter the score in the games tab, calculation of points and ranking is automatically set.

OPTIONS: BET / EARNING DISTRIBUTION

OPTIONS: IMPORT BETS

The import of prognosis is fully automated. You must place allPRONOSTIC files in the same directory prior to the import.

Click on IMPORT BETS to open the file explorer :

Browse the directory to find the PRONOSTIC files and click on [OK]

The import starts from the first game not played yet in Games tab of file MANAGER. Then the sofware switchesdirectly to the Log tab to keep you informed of the progress of the import (see log section for more information).Prognoses are copied in the Results tab (see Results chapter for further explanations).

The path to the PRONOSTIC files is saved and appears below the informationblock. This allows the file browser to directly open the right directory the nexttime you click on IMPORT BETS. This cell can be modified or erased.

OPTIONS: TOOLS

The Eraser [1] erases all bets in the Results tab.

The padlock is used to lock the settings of the software (scales, earning distribution, prognoses, ). It also blocksimport of PRONOSTIC files. You can then send the file MANAGER to all participants without worrying about accidentalchanges.

As you first lock of MANAGER file, you will be asked to enter a password between 4 and 12 characters. The chosenpassword must be entered twice for validation:

If the password has been set correctly, MANAGER will ask for a secret question. This question will asked to you if youforget your password, i.e. after failing 3 times in unlocking. Find a question whose answer in known only by you, thenenter the answer to your secret question.

MATCHS: MONITORING THE EURO

This tab is used to monitor the competition, it allows calculation of ratings based on the players'bets and set theratings.

MATCHS: RATING SCALE

This second scale is calculated from your participants'bets. It will be added to the first scale of points defined in theOptions tab. Calculation of ratings can be done only after completion of prognoses import.

Column [1] indicates the percentage of participants having played:1 : win from the first team (for example : Poland wins first game).D : draw.2 : win from the second team.

The second section 1N2 [4] allows the setting of a second scale of points based on ratings. This can be done in twoways:

Option 1 : free ratings (if fields [4] are completed, erase them with eraser), you can set your own points, e.g.those of the bookmakers

Option 2: ratings calculated by MANAGER according to prognoses from all participants. In this case press [3] toimport ratings in columns [4].

You can apply a multiplier [2] to adjust the point values in the column [4].

The calculation rule is as follows:(100/(percentage of participants having bet 1 or N or 2)) X multiplier [2].

You can set parameters for each stage of the competition (groups, quarter, semi and finals).

RESULTS: CALCULATION OF POINTS

This tab includes all the players. It calculates points following the two scales of points.It can hold a maximum of 100 players, they are all grouped in 4 levels of 25 grids.

CLASSEMENT : CLASSIFICATION OF PLAYERS

This tab creates a ranking of the bettors according to the points won. In case of equal number of points, participantsranking is decided on the number of exact games found. Then if the participants still show the same number of points,earnings are divided.

[1] Earning distribution, in case of equal number of points and number of exact games, sharing is recalculated.[2] Number of exact games found (score found)[3] For each bettor, number of points won per game.

STAT:DEVELOPMENT OF THE NUMBER OF POINTS

The Stat tab allows monitoring the development of points for each participant. It is possible to display up to 10 playerssimultaneously:

LOG: STATUS OF THE PROGNOSES IMPORT

This tab keeps you informed about the import of PRONOSTIC files runs smoothly or not.

Status of the import of the PRONOSTIC files :

It is advisable to check the error log !! because some PRONOSTIC files might be improperly completed (duplicatenames, wrong groups ranking, name / first name forgotten, ).As soon as an error occurs, the import of the relevant file stops.

[1] : Number of warnings in the column ! [2] : Number of errors in the column ! [3] : History of processed files.[4] : For each file processed : list of actions performed and any errors or warnings.

Status of the importation of players:Also check the status of all players on the right hand side of the tab; it indicates the games which each participant beton. It is thus easy to detect omissions as in the example below where the first two participants predicted only the first24 games, the 10th stopped at the 23rd game.This kind of error doesnt generate any warning on the left hand side of the tab.

This file has been written with Excel 2003 and is compatible with higher versions of Excel (2007 and 2010).In order to fully enjoy all the features it is advisable to regulary update your version of Excel. It is essential to enablemacros to run this program.

APPENDIX 3: ORGANIZING A COMPETITION IN SEVERAL PHASES

It is possible to organize your competition in different ways:

In a single phase : the participants place their bets on all the games at once until the final. This method iseasier to manage: less mails exchanges, a single import. The participants have to find a maximum of teams inquarter finals to hope to finish in the top rankings.With this method, team found points scale will apply.

In several phases: a first phase of prognoses for the group games (1 to 24) and one more for the finals (quarter-final, semi-final and final). This method is heavier and requires more mail exchanges, several imports.Moreover, time between each phase is very short (2 to 3 days), the participants have to be present andinvolved.

With this method, team found points scale in quarter-finals is not so valuable.

Example of organization in several phases:

1/ Send PRONOSTIC files asking the participants to fill in only games 1 to 24.2/ Import PRONOSTIC files in the MANAGER file, the Games tab must be empty.3/ At the end of the group games on June 19th, send a new PRONOSTIC file containing all first 24 games withthe actual scores (it is possible to copy / paste results from MANAGER file). Dont forget to manually adjustteam rankings in groups if necessary.4/ The MANAGER file ( Games tab) should only contain the score of games 1 to 24, all other results cellsmust be empty.Import PRONOSTIC files in the MANAGER. Import will start from the first game not played yet, i.e. at the 25thgame and will stop at the first game not played in the file PRONOSTIC.
