Foreword

3

You may have thought that metal construction reached its zenith in 1931

with the completion of the Empire State Building. Or in 1998 with the

Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in Japan. The popularity of metal in construction

continues to increase, with wider, smarter, bigger and better applications,

reflected in Euroclad’s range of roof and wall systems.

Euroclad has been increasingly involved in large scale, high value projects;

from colossal distribution centres with tight timescales and even tighter

budgets, to the striking Manchester Civil Justice Centre and the seminal

Wales Millennium Centre. Euroclad has developed steel and aluminium

cladding systems to offer you a range of options suitable for diverse

applications with specific performance. The combination of 25 years of

manufacturing expertise and a propensity for listening to the market

means that Euroclad can deliver the solutions that you need, on-time

and within budget.

Take advantage and draw on our experience.

Elite Systems

The more recyclable option

It is comforting to know that there is a well established process in

place for handling built-up systems at end of life, which is easy and

cost-effective. The pre-finished steel can be separated and is

100% recyclable, whilst the glass-fibre and mineral wool insulation can

be processed for re-use.

In comparison, PUR/PIR foam-cored composite panels, due to the HFCs

they may contain, can harbour a Global Warming Potential over 900 times

greater than CO2, restricting end of life options*.

Standing seamroofing

The perfect fit

S T A N D I N G S E A M R O O F I N G 11

Euroseam roofing is a well established, premium roofing system that can

achieve a wide range of acoustic and thermal performances. Euroclad

ensures consistent, high quality installation by utilising a network of fully

trained contractors to install the systems.

The flexibility this product offers the designer is unsurpassed with

precision tapers manufactured at Euroclad and rollformed curves down

to a radius of just 5m. A range of waveform, concave and convex shapes

can be achieved with this flexible yet high performance roof system.

To complement its flexible design, Euroseam can also be rollformed and

curved on-site, avoiding potential problems associated with transporting

long sheets and negating limited site access.

Euroseam’s high performance provenance was acknowledged in 2005

with BBA certification.

Secret fix roofing

Simple and stunning

S E C R E T F I X R O O F I N G

Secret fix roofing is a proven system that offers fast, simple installation

with excellent performance and design flexibility. There is no need for

external penetrations of the outer sheet, resulting in excellent durability.

Secret fix roofs are produced predominantly in Corus Colorcoat

HPS200® with the system offering many of the advantages of a

true standing seam.

Euroclad’s secret fix roof systems can be installed with a pitch as low

as 1° and may be more simply integrated into projects where the

material of choice is steel.

Euroclad’s secret fix roofing was awarded BBA certification in 2004.

Rainscreen façades

Stretching the boundaries

R A I N S C R E E N F A Ç A D E S 15

Euroclad LINEAR façade systems are truly the state-of-the-art.

The very latest design technologies have been cleverly combined

to create a stunning collection of façades. With masses of exciting

shapes, finishes and colours to choose from LINEAR can realise design

ideas efficiently.

These systems not only match aesthetic criteria, but also the robust

performance requirements for rainscreens and façades. By combining

these factors with highly experienced technical support, building designs

can be easily achieved, whatever and wherever they may be.

Euroclad Façades has become the first manufacturer to be awarded

certification from the Building Research Establishment (BRE) for a

rainscreen system tested as an integral part of a complete wall solution.

Unlike other assessments, the BRE analysed the whole façade system

to comply with NHBC, CWCT and all relevant building regulations,

instead of testing individual components in isolation.

Roof and wallcladding profiles

Shaping the future

R O O F A N D W A L L C L A D D I N G P R O F I L E S

Forming the backbone of Elite Systems and Euroclad’s product offering

are profiled roof and wall cladding. Euroclad has improved and expanded

on its product range of cladding profiles, with nine different profiles

covering roof and wall constructions in a choice of steel or aluminium,

including the stunning new half-round product.

These products are available on short lead-times with the potential for

diverse applications. Wall systems can be fixed horizontally or vertically

with horizontal applications offering mitred or curved corners.

All external products can be curved. Couple this with the wide range

available and a suitable product can be found for any application,

including projects where design is as important as function.

Wall cladding can also be used in the construction of an external firewall.

Fabrications and flashings

Finish in style

F A B R I C A T I O N S 19

Early fabrications were simple corners for horizontally laid profiled

wall sheets. The use of curved sheeting for roofs drove the development

of curved flashings. Now the industry demands a wide and varied range

of products and materials that include everything from powder coated

aluminium bullnoses and concealed gutter systems to eaves, fascias and

bespoke details. Euroclad’s range of fabricated products empower the

designer to achieve their goals using both standard details and

bespoke items.

Integrated production has been achieved through the recent investment in

a high technology manufacturing facility for fabrications and flashings.

Flashings can be produced quickly and reliably with more complicated

fabrications also benefiting from the continuous manufacturing process.

Euroclad fabrications and flashings can provide a stunning finish on any

building. Available in a huge range of materials, colours and finishes

Euroclad have the experience, know-how and back-up to supply highly

finished fabrications and flashings that are expertly manufactured and

delivered on-time.

Benefits of built-up

Environment

Recyclable construction is a major consideration for all

building owners and developers. That is why Euroclad

systems consist of mineral wool insulation plus steel or

aluminium skin cladding. All cladding and insulation used is

recyclable* with no added greenhouse gases, minimising any

potential ecological impact. Elite Systems now offer the

world's first CarbonNeutral building envelope as part of

Confidex SustainTM from Corus.

Performance

With the increasing pressure to meet new performance

criteria for all building envelopes, it is safe to assume that

Euroclad products deliver on all counts. Euroclad systems

provide the flexibility of construction to comfortably deliver

specified air tightness, sound reduction and thermal

performance in accordance with Building regulations.

*Source: Corus Colorcoat® Technical Paper, End of life options for pre-finished steel buildings, 2006.

Euroclad built-up systems offer huge benefits

in the four crucial areas of environment,

performance, non-combustibility and design

flexibility.

Page 23: Euroclad - An Introduction

21

Non-combustibility

Non-combustible systems and materials are essential elements

in any construction. Euroclad systems are non-combustible,

being constructed from inert, fire-resistant materials like mineral

fibre insulation.

The insulation is non-combustible, and crucially, it doesn't

release any lethal smoke when exposed to flames and high

temperatures, unlike chemically manufactured insulation used

in some composite panels. In the event of a fire, Euroclad

products will maintain their insulation and integrity, reducing

risk to the lives of building users and fire fighters.

Design flexibility

Specifiers and developers increasingly demand more design

flexibility. Euroclad systems offer complete visual freedom –

a stark contrast to the design rigidity of many comparable

systems.

Continuous investment ensures the highest levels of

product flexibility with recent developments including new

tapering and curving technology. This ongoing development,

along with the ability to accurately convert your design

into the correct aesthetic, means that Euroclad delivers

at all levels.
