EUREKA’s history
• Initiated in 1985 with 17 members from Western Europe
• From 1992 - EUREKA opens its doors to new members from Central and Eastern Europe
• From 1998 - encouraged project participation from anywhere in the world, allowing industry to ‘work with the best’

DNA-based test using early cell mutation to detect cancer
Participants: Germany, Norway
Budget: 1.2 m€
Timescale: 2000-2002
The new DNA-based test aims to identify patients with curable pre-cancerous cells in the colon, rectum and pancreas.
The new test, which takes less than two hours, is now used by Norway's public health service.
