1-PhilosophyTo be fully effective, the EUMEDIS visualidentity must abide by strict graphic rulesand be used with the greatest consistencypossible.

This graphics charter establishes the basicprinciples governing the use of the logo. Itmust be strictly observed to prevent anychanges that could lessen the impact of theEUMEDIS identity.

Description

- The EUMEDIS logo is based on theamphora, a symbol of trade between Mediterranean peoples.

- The network of connections symbolisesthe exchange of information.

- The waves represent the MediterraneanSea.

- The European flag and the words“EuropeAid /Co-operation Office”indicate the European Commission’sfinancing of the project.


2-ColoursThe colours are drawn from a warmchromatic range based on yellow, ochreand grey, complementing the blue wavesand the European flag.

Black and whiteversion

The logo is available inblack and white (withoutshades of grey) if colourreproduction is notpossible.

Size

The logo may not be reduced to a height ofless than 25 mm.


3-VolumesThe substance of the logo is created by thedifferent shapes it contains. Since anychanges to these shapes would destroy thelogo, it is imperative to respect thefollowing instructions on size, proportionsand composition.

Changes to the proportions of the logo areprohibited.

Changes to the composition of the logo areprohibited.


Blank area

The logo must be surrounded by a blankarea. No visual elements may be placed inthis area.

The size of the area is calculated as 1/4 ofthe height of the European flag contained inthe EUMEDIS logo.

The blank area to the left and the right ismeasured from the edges of the flag andbeneath the logo from the line at its base.The upper blank area is equal to half thereference distance measuring from theupper extremity of the logo.

4-BackgroundTo ensure that the colours of the logo standout against a coloured background, a whitecartridge at least as large as the protectedarea must be used. Only a very lightbackground may justify the absence of awhite cartridge.

Photo

In no case may the logo be placed on a photographwithout the presence of a white cartridge at least as largeas the protected area (see chapter 3).

Variation of the logo

A variation of the logo has been created forthe official EUMEDIS web site,www.eumedis.net. This version may in nocase be used for other purposes.

Light background

The logo may be placed ona very light background.This background may notexceed 10% of the value ofa pure colour.

Dark background

In no case may the logo be placed on a flat tint of more than 10%without the presence of a white cartridge at least as large as theprotected area (see chapter 3).


6-LanguagesThe logo is available in three languages:English, French and Arabic.

In a linguistic context not using one ofthese three languages, the English versionof the logo should be used.
