Introduction: The Holy Spirit transforms our lives so that through God’s power we are sent out as missionaries of Christ to build up his body and further his kingdom of love, mercy and peace.

Today’s Readings

First Reading: Acts 2:1-11

They were filled with the Holy Spirit who gave them the gift of speech.

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:3-7, 12-13

The Spirit gives gifts generously for the good of all.

Gospel: John 20:19-23

Fear is changed to courage as the disciples are sent out in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Association of Catholic Leaders

There will be a Mass on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 12pm at St. Andrew's Cathedral. The mass will be followed by a lunch reception at the Cathedral.

Vocation Live-In

Children’s Faith Formation / Sacramental

Preparation. Registration is now on.

This ministry is for all children ages 4 to grade 7, including those wanting to prepare for the Sacraments of 1st Communion / Confirmation.

The program runs from September through to April, from 11:00am—12:00noon in the Parish Hall. Please note: Sacramental Preparation is for children in grade 2 or older and involves parent participation.

Registration forms are available at the entrance of the church and on the website. Please return completed forms to the parish office or email to [email protected].

PROTECTING THE SACRED One Step at a Time Saturday, June 28, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Responding to our call to promote healing and reconciliation with First Nations peoples, we can show our solidarity through participating in a multi-faith Tar Sands Healing Walk to raise awareness of the Alberta tar-sands and its impact on the earth and First Nations.

Walk starts at water’s edge, Delta Ocean Point Hotel and finishes at First Metropolitan Church.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

The Vancouver Archdiocesan Central Council of the Society of SVdP, having been appointed Administrators of the Betty O’Flynn Memorial Fund, is pleased to sponsor a $500 bursary for full-time post-secondary studies directed towards a career- which in the opinion of the Memorial Fund Committee members – supports life issues.

Applicants should be Vincentians, family members of Vincentians, or past/present beneficiaries of the Society; must be resident of/studying in BC, and must submit with their application a letter of support from a member of the Society to whom they are not related.

Applications should be submitted to the Society’s address marked for the attention of the Bursary Fund Committee and must be received by July 15 of application year.

The successful candidate will be notified by Aug15 and the bursary will be paid upon confirmation of enrollment in courses commencing in the fall of the award year.

2014 Diocesan Family Camp July 4-6

It will be a wonderful time of renewal of faith, friendships and relaxation. We have a chef to cook all our meals, the youth of Catholic Christian Outreach to play with and enrich our children and teen's faith, and guest speaker, Pavel Reid from the Archdiocese of Vancouver Office of Marriage & Family to equip families with the tools need to be the domestic church today. Planning Ahead – Vacation Bible School

This summer, there will be a coordinated effort by members of Catholic Christian Outreach to offer four Vacation Bible Schools in the city for our young people.

Saint Andrew’s Cathedral July 7 to 11

Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Saint Andrew’s Regional High School. Sports-themed camp for children between ages of 6 and 12. Sports and Olympics will be played with various drills and scrimmages. Youth 14 years and older are welcome as volunteers, Cost is $50 per child. To register, contact the parish office at 250 388 5571.

Our Lady of the Rosary July 14 to 18

Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Saints-themed camp for children between ages of 6 and 12. Each day will focus on different saints and virtues. Youth 14 years and older are welcome as volunteers.

Cost is $60 per child (bursaries available). To register, contact the parish office at 250 478 3482 or [email protected].

Sacred Heart July 21 to 25

Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. This will be a Lord of the Rings-themed camp for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Youth 14 years or older are welcome as volunteers, Cost is $60 per child. To register, contact the parish office at 250 479 1611 or [email protected]

Saint Joseph the Worker July 28 to August 1

Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. This will be a Clean and Green-themed camp for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Clean and Green encourages young people to preserve and protect God’s earth and will include crafts, music, and student books. Older youth are welcome as volunteers, but must be 14 years of age or older. Cost is $60 per child. To register, contact the parish office at 250 479 7413 or [email protected].

Each camp has a different theme and you are welcome to participate in one or all of them. Register directly with the appropriate parish.

Youth Group Camping Trip

Drop off at 5:00pm at Goldstream Park Campground, Friday, June 13 and pick up at noon on Sunday, June 15.

We will attend Mass on Saturday, June 14 at Our Lady of the Rosary. Permission forms are posted on Facebook.
