Benefits of wind

• Today– Investment in EU wind farms in 2009 was +/- €13 billion; – 163 TWh produced;– 106 Mt CO2 avoided;– In 2010, € 8.7bn avoided fuel costs.

• By 2030 – 400 GW installed wind power– 26% - 35% of EU electricity demand;– 1.155 TWh produced (241 million average households);– 600 Mt CO2 avoided annually;– €56 billion avoided fuel costs;– €15 billion avoided CO2 costs.

Wind power in the Ukraine - Potential

• 4 MW installed in 2009• 94 MW cumulative installations• Slow development …but…

• Excellent wind resource• Availability of land• Good feed-in tariff (up to €110/MWh)• Focus on security of supply=> Investor interest

Wind power in the Ukraine - Challenges

• Is the legislative framework adequate/complete/appropriately designed?• Is it stable?• Grid infrastructure?

• 4 Fundamentals :
