MDO LuanWestern RedCedar

Medium Density Overlay Plywood, or MDO, is used as a grooved or smooth panel material. Rated for exte-rior use, MDO consists of a core material, overlaid with a pressed fiber material and weighs less than full MDF, making it suitable for this particular application. The smooth surface is ideal for a grain-free, professional quality paint finish. MDO Plywood cannot be stained.

Redwood offers a characteristic red to pink color through the heartwood, and it contains a grown –in re-sistance to decay and insects that is present through the entire piece of wood. Anodizing is an electrochemical process that oxidizes the metal surface of the aluminum frames into a deco-rative, durable, corrosion-resistant finish that cannot chip or peel. The process results in a slight shine and is commonly seen on commercial applications such as banks, and corporate high-rise structures. It has become very popular among modern architecture enthusiasts, used more and more for residential applications as well.

Powder coating uses a polymer or plastic with pigment that is ground into a fine powder where it is sprayed with an electrostatic deposition gun as fine particles that adhere to the grounded aluminum. The frame is then cured in an oven where the coating chemically reacts to heat forming a super long molecular chain that is su-per durable (much more than any liquid paint can offer) and resistant to moisture, chemicals, ultraviolet light, extreme weather, scratching, chipping, abrasions, corrosion, fading and other wear issues.
