• The Land: The Great Rift Valley cuts through the southern part of Ethiopia. On the northwest side of the valley are the grassy highlands. On the opposite side, the land is mountainous.
• Weather: It can get very hot in the
lowlands—up to 120 degrees. The highlands are cool, in the 60s and 70s. It rains from June to September and is very dry from October to February.
