In a Single-UPS configuration, each computer server or group of servers is

protected by a single UPS. That is, each server has one PCNS agent

communicating with a single NMC installed on a UPS.

Supported UPS devices: The entire Smart-UPS range of UPS devices,

including Smart-UPS VT and MGE Galaxy 3500 1- and 3-phase, Galaxy 7000,

Galaxy 300; the Symmetra 1-Phase and 3-Phase, the Symmetra PX, and the Silcon DP3500E and Silcon.

Two or more UPSs that support a load. Each UPS must be able to support the

load on its own. The additional UPSs act as reserve.

The first UPS provides all the power for the load, the others are in reserve. When the first UPS in unable to supply power, the server switches over to take

load from the next UPS

Supported UPS devices:

Smart-UPS range of UPS’s, including SUVT & G3500 (1&3-ph)

Symmetra 1-Ph & Symmetra 3-Ph.

Server

UPS in parallel

The combined output of several UPSs support the load. Depending on the

capacity of the load there may be reserve UPS(s) available.

Each UPS is in a Parallel-UPS configuration & must be of the same UPS

family.Supported UPS devices: SUVT,G3500(3-Ph), G7000, G300, Silcon

DP3500E&Silcon BC3.

SUVT & G3500(3-Ph) consists of 2–4 UPS’s.

Silcon, consists of 2–9 UPS’s.

ports are open in the vMA and

how to add host servers to the

server list

Page 51: ESXi-PCNS 3 installaton

To verify the needed communications ports are open run this command

sudo /sbin/iptables –L

To open all ports – stop the firewall temporally run the command

sudo service iptables stop

To restart the firewall run the command sudo service iptables start

If you would like to add additional host server to the server list (this will allow for the shutdown of multiple host by a single vMA) first check to be sure the server is not already in the list by running the command vifp listserversIf the server is not in the list add the server to the list by running the commandsudo vifp addserver 10.218.45.20 Verify the server has been addedvifp listservers

NOTE: The address of the host running the vMA should always be last in the list.

Next you need to add the server to the fasspass list the command is vifptarget –s <server name or ipaddress> To verify there is communications between the cleint and the host run the command Vicfg-nics –l (lower case letter l) should display a list of the host NICs.
