Time
Tools used: clocks and calendars
Units used: seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years

Temperature
Measured with thermometerFahrenheit scale– Customary scale–Water freezes at 32° F–Water boils at 212° F
Celsius scale–Metric system (based on 100)–Water freezes at 0° C–Water boils at 100° C
Example
At 2 p.m. the temperature was 65° F. If the temperature drops 4° F per hour, what will the temperature be at 7 p.m.?
2 pm - 65° F3 pm - 61° F4 pm - 57° F5 pm - 53° F
7 pm - 45° F6 pm - 49° F
Mass and Weight
Similar, but not equalMass: measure of the amount of matter
in an object– A balance is used to measure mass– Use metric units
Weight: measure of how heavy an object is– A spring scale is used to measure weight– Use customary and metric units
Example
Billy buys 2 pounds 8 ounces and 1 pound 10 ounces of ground beef. How many pounds of ground beef did Billy buy?
2 lbs 8 oz1 lbs 10 oz+3 lbs 18 oz
