1 Term 1 2019 Dear Parents / Guardians, I would like to wish all of you a blessed New Year filled with an abundance of peace, joy and love. 2019 will be an exciting year for SHPS. One of the reasons is that the school turns 85 this year! As part of our 85th anniversary celebration, SHPS and SHSS, together with our School Management Committee, St Hilda’s Alumni, Chapel of Christ the Redeemer and Parent Support Groups (primary and secondary schools), will be organizing the 85th Anniversary Carnival on Sat, 9 March 2019. The aims of organizing this mega event are to celebrate our rich heritage and contribute as a family to meet the needs of the community. Proceeds from the carnival will be donated to the Singapore Anglican Community Services, St Andrew’s Mission Hospital and St Andrew’s Community Hospital. Other key events to celebrate 85 years of God’s blessings include a Combined Founder’s Day Thanksgiving Service on 12 April, Hildan Vision Night on 5 July and a Gala Fund- raising Dinner on 15 November. 2019 is also Singapore’s Bicentennial. As we commemorate 200 years since the founding of Singapore and celebrate St Hilda’s Schools’ 85th anniversary, our students will learn more about the compelling vision and selfless sacrifices of our founders, whose work have impacted generations. We hope that they will be inspired by the strong legacy and imbibe the values of commitment, courage and service in their own lives. Hence, the school theme “One Family—Honouring Our Legacy”. We look forward to your support in reinforcing the values with your children and encourage them to participate actively in the programmes and activities planned for them this year. With the recent announcement of changes in the education system, 2019 will also see adjustments in our school-based assessments, holistic development reporting and class allocation, in particular, for the lower primary levels. With the emphasis on Learning for Life, students are encouraged to learn for growth, not for grades. Instead of seeing tests and examinations as competitions, where they work hard to beat others to get to the top, we want Hildans to work in collaboration with others and use assessment feedback for self- improvement. We will share more with you at the coming Parents’ Briefing for your child’s level. We look forward to meeting you. May 2019 be a fruitful and blessed year for you and your family. Term 1 2019

Dear Parents / Guardians,

I would like to wish all of you a blessed New Year filled with an abundance of peace, joy and love.

2019 will be an exciting year for SHPS.

One of the reasons is that the school turns 85 this year! As part of our 85th anniversary celebration, SHPS

and SHSS, together with our School Management Committee, St Hilda’s Alumni, Chapel of Christ the

Redeemer and Parent Support Groups (primary and secondary schools), will be organizing the 85th

Anniversary Carnival on Sat, 9 March 2019. The aims of organizing this mega event are to celebrate our

rich heritage and contribute as a family to meet the needs of the community. Proceeds from the carnival

will be donated to the Singapore Anglican Community Services, St Andrew’s Mission Hospital and St

Andrew’s Community Hospital. Other key events to celebrate 85 years of God’s blessings include a

Combined Founder’s Day Thanksgiving Service on 12 April, Hildan Vision Night on 5 July and a Gala Fund-

raising Dinner on 15 November.

2019 is also Singapore’s Bicentennial. As we commemorate 200 years since the founding of Singapore

and celebrate St Hilda’s Schools’ 85th anniversary, our students will learn more about the compelling vision

and selfless sacrifices of our founders, whose work have impacted generations. We hope that they will be

inspired by the strong legacy and imbibe the values of commitment, courage and service in their own lives.

Hence, the school theme “One Family—Honouring Our Legacy”. We look forward to your support in

reinforcing the values with your children and encourage them to participate actively in the programmes and

activities planned for them this year.

With the recent announcement of changes in the education system, 2019 will also see adjustments in our

school-based assessments, holistic development reporting and class allocation, in particular, for the lower

primary levels. With the emphasis on Learning for Life, students are encouraged to learn for growth, not for

grades. Instead of seeing tests and examinations as competitions, where they work hard to beat others to

get to the top, we want Hildans to work in collaboration with others and use assessment feedback for self-

improvement. We will share more with you at the coming Parents’ Briefing for your child’s level. We look

forward to meeting you.

May 2019 be a fruitful and blessed year for you and your family.
