A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
Children learn by watching us. Do they see you helping
others like the Good Samaritan, or do they see you
avoiding others like the Levite in today’s gospel? You
should worry more about what your children see in your
life than what they see on TV. Think about it.
WE WELCOME Jordan Kimberly Sicheri into the
Catholic Community of Sacred Heart.
Jordan is the daughter of
Adam M. and Samantha J. (Schlimm) Sicheri.
May God bless her as she grows in her faith and love of
God.

Your prayerful support, get-well greetings, & varied gifts

are powerful examples of your love for those serving in
the Priesthood of Jesus Christ. May God continue to
bless all of you in His kindness, as you have blest
me with your kindness! On Monday, July 15th from
6 to 7:15 p.m. I invite those interested to St. Marys
Parish Center Hall, where I will tell about how the
aneurism was discovered. There will be time for
questions.

The Christian life has to be simple, because we are all
called to be saints. If it were complicated, only the
more intelligent of us would even have a chance to
become a saint. But the facts show that even children,
even the uneducated and unintelligent, can reach the
very heights of sanctity and lasting happiness.
St. Dominic Savio is a perfect example.
He lived a simple Christian life, but he lived it so
energetically that soon after he died at the young age of
15, he was canonized a saint. Dominic heard the call to
the priesthood while just a boy, living in northern Italy in
the 1800s. He was encouraged to join a Catholic boys'
school (called an oratory), which was being run by St.
John Bosco. There he lived a simple boarding school
life, but he filled it to the brim with love for God and
neighbor.
He started a club called The Company of the
Immaculate Conception, dedicated to daily prayers and
to helping the oratory run smoothly. Club members
volunteered to wash floors, to take care of classmates
who were sick or had special needs, and to put up with
the discomforts of boarding school life (heat in the
summer, cold in the winter, sickness, the bothersome
ways of other people) with a spirit of humility and faith -
seeing in those discomforts a chance to share in the
cross of Christ.
St. Dominic used to say, "I can't do big things. But I
want all I do, even the smallest thing, to be for the
greater glory of God."
His personal motto, from the time he received his First
Communion at nine-years-old, was equally simple - just
three words: "Death before sin!"
That's the kind of simplicity we can all learn from.

Youth & Young Adult Ministry
Child Protection and Creating Safe Environments-
Know the Warning Signs of Abuse: Those who abuse
children look like everyone else. They don’t look like
scary people that we should know to avoid. Rather, they
live with their families in our neighborhoods. One of the
most important ways to ensure the safety of children in
our environments is to know the warning signs of adults
who present a risk of harm to children. Among these
signs are when the person (1) always wants to be alone
with children in areas where no one can monitor the
interactions, (2) allows children to do things their
parents would not permit, (3) is always more excited to
be with children than with adults, and (4) discourages
others from participating in activities involving kids.

15th Sunday in Ordinary Time Acting With Mercy
But a Samaritan while traveling came near him; and
when he saw him, he was moved with pity. He went to
him and bandaged his wounds, having poured oil and
wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal,
brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
Luke 10:33-34
Question of the Week
Adult: When have you gone out of your way to help
a stranger in need?
Youth: Would you help a new student who needed
help? Why or why not?

NATIONAL NEEDS COLLECTION~ JULY 20/21
Without outside assistance, over 80 Catholic Dioceses in
the United States and its territories cannot offer their
people basic pastoral care, provide priestly formation, or
organized lay ministry training.
The Catholic Home Mission Appeal helps to provide
essential pastoral outreach in home mission dioceses
through grants. These grants support priestly & religious
vocations, faith formation, and education for local
leaders to equip them to meet the unique needs of their
faith communities.
The Black and Indian Mission Collection, established
in 1884, helps to evangelize & support our African
American & Indigenous communities with
Mission schools, religious education programs, the
purchase of catechetical materials, and ministry training.
Please give generously to the National Needs Collection
on the weekend of July 20 and 21.
THE HARVEST IS ABUNDANT~ The Faith Formation
Elementary program has an opening for a catechist at the
2nd grade level. If you feel called, contact Kathy Cheatle
