Organ Prelude:

Introit Hymn:. . . 384 - Praise To The Lord, The Almighty The King Of Creation (Tune: Praxis Pietatis)

The Opening Sentence: Page 98 - Book of Common Prayer The Collect for Purity: Page 101 - Book of Common Prayer The Kyrie; Gloria: Page 102 - Book of Common Prayer The Collects: Sixth Sunday of Easter: O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Prayer for the Ministry of Intentional Discipleship - All: Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have awakened your church to hear again the call of our Saviour Jesus Christ to come to him and learn from him. Grant that as we say ‘yes’ to his call to discipleship, your Holy Spirit will enable us so completely to commit all the areas of our lives to his service, that in our personal, family and church lives, our work, recreational and social lives, we would act as Jesus would have acted if he were in our place; in his name and for his sake we pray. Amen.

Order Of The Holy Eucharist The Liturgical Colour Is White

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation; O my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation:

All ye who hear, now to his temple draw near, Joining in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth, Shieldeth thee gently from harm, or when fainting sustaineth:

Hast thou not seen how thy heart’s wishes have been granted in what he ordaineth?

Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee; Surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend thee:

Ponder anew what the Almighty can do, if to the end he befriend thee.

Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him! All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before him!

Let the amen sound from his people again: Gladly for aye we adore him.

The First Lesson . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Acts 16:9-15 {In this reading from the story of the early church, Paul and his companions are called by a vision to journey to Macedonia and the city of Philippi, where a merchant named Lydia responds to the gospel and is baptized, to-gether with her household. She offers her home to the travelers, and be-comes an important supporter of their missionary endeavour.} Reader: A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles the 16th Chapter , beginning to read at the 9th verse. 9During the night Paul had a vision: there stood a man of Macedonia plead-ing with him and saying, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us.’10When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them. 11We set sail from Troas and took a straight course to Samothrace, the following day to Neapolis, 12and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city for some days. 13On the Sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and spoke to the women who had gathered there. 14A certain woman named Lydia, a worshipper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. 15When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, ‘If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my home.’ And she prevailed upon us. The reader says: The Word of the Lord. The people respond: Thanks be to God. Psalm 67 {A prayer for God’s graciousness and saving power, and a bidding of praise by all people for God’s justice and bounty.} 1 May God be merciful to us and bless us, *show us the light of his countenance and come to us. 2 Let your ways be known upon earth, *your saving health among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; *let all the peoples praise you. 4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, *for you judge the peoples with equity and guide all the nations upon earth.

5 Let the peoples praise you, O God; *let all the peoples praise you. 6 The earth has brought forth her increase; *may God, our own God, give us his blessing. 7 May God give us his blessing, *and may all the ends of the earth stand in awe of him.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;

As it was in the beginning is now; and shall be forever, Amen.

The Epistle . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Revelation 21:10, 22-22:5 {In this lesson John the Seer has a vision of the renewal of all creation and of the new Jerusalem as the city in which God will abide with redeemed humanity. The old order has passed away and death is no more, neither pain nor the causes of distress and sadness. Christ in victory, the Alpha and Omega, promises living water to any who thirst.}

Reader: A Reading from the Revelation to John the 21st Chapter , beginning to read at the 10th verse. 10And in the spirit* he carried me away to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. 22 I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. 25Its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. 26People will bring into it the glory and the honour of the nations. 27But nothing un-clean will enter it, nor anyone who practises abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life. 22Then the angel* showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2through the middle of the street of the city. On either side of the river is the tree of life* with its twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3Nothing accursed will be found there any more. But the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants* will worship him; 4they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5And there will be no more night; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign for ever and ever.

Reader: The Word of the Lord Response: Thanks be to God

Gradual Hymn: . . 386 - Sing Praise To God Who Reigns Above (Tune: Mit Frueden Zart)

Thus all my gladsome way along I sing aloud thy praises,

That men may hear the grateful song my voice unwearied raises;

be joyful in the Lord, my heart; both soul and body bear your part:

to God all praise and glory.

The Gospel . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . John 14:23-29 (Our gospel tells of Jesus’ promise to His disciples of the coming of the Holy Spirit. Although Jesus will no longer be present physically, those who continue in His love will know His abiding presence, together with that of the Father. The Holy Spirit will be their counselor and bring Jesus’ own words to mind. Jesus shares these things with His followers before they take place, and he gives them His peace.} Gospeller: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you.

Gospeller: A Reading from the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John, the 14th Chapter, beginning to read at the 23rd verse. All: Glory to Christ our Saviour 23Jesus said to Judas (not Iscariot), ‘Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me. 25 ‘I have said these things to you while I am still with you. 26But the Advo-cate,* the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Intinction

This is the administration of the consecrated bread and wine of the Eu-charist at the same time, typically by dipping the bread in the wine and placing the moistened host in the mouth of the communicant.

This means of receiving communion is discouraged. However, when it is done the communicant should cross their hands over their chest at the Altar rail to indicate their desire to receive Communion in this way.

The priest administering the consecrated bread will then dip the bread in the cup and place it on the tongue of the communicant.

Confirmed members of the church are encouraged to receive commun-ion in both species, taking a sip from the common cup.

Thank you for your co-operation and govern yourselves accordingly.

Dean Harry Bain

HOSPITALIZATION: Please Note! If you are admitted to hospital, sick at home for any length of time or travelling abroad to seek medical attention please let your Clergy know. Remember it is your responsibility to notify your parish Priests on such occasions. You can only be ministered to, when and if it is known that you are not well. The Clergy should also be notified when you are leaving the hospital. COMMUNION TO THE SICK: The Clergy wish to make the Sac-rament available to those who because of sickness or infirmity, are una-ble to attend public celebrations of the Eucharist. If you are sick and/or confined (or if you know someone who is) and wish to receive Holy Communion at home, please inform the Clergy as soon as possible. IN CHRISTIAN MEMORY: Always remember to pray for the re-pose of the souls of the Faithful Departed, Pray for those who have died recently, those whose anniversaries of burial occur this week, for those interred in The Columbarium and for those who for whatever reason have no one to remember them with love and prayer. LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT: When planning your bequests and memorials, prayerfully consider including The Cathedral Endow-ment Trust. This will help your church now and in the future.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION

PLEASE CONSIDER BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE ANGLICAN CHURCH WOMEN

Did you know? The Christ Church Cathedral Anglican Church Women was the very first branch of the ACW established in the Bahamas by Bishop Markham in No-vember 1963. Since then this group of many distinguished ladies over the years have been actively involved in social outreach of this Parish and in the Diocese and are committed to the building up of God's Kingdom. Why join the Christ Church Cathedral ACW? The ACW is a voluntary organization made up of women of the church and their mission is to enhance spiritual growth and development of women who will share the gospel message with others and who will become active-ly involved in mission and ministry through worship, study, prayer, fellow-ship, service and giving. Who can join the ACW? Membership is open to all women of the church who are 18 years of age and older and who are confirmed members and regular communicants. How can I join? Just attend our monthly meetings which are held the first Sunday of each month (we break for one month (August) during the summer). After three meetings you will be formally accepted into the group. New members are officially welcomed in May of each year at the Anniversary service where you will receive your official ACW pin. What are the requirements of being a member of the ACW?

• To attend the monthly ACW Corporate Communion services. Dress Attire: White dress, shoes and hat. • To actively participate in fundraisers, visitations, helping others within the parish and outside the parish • To pay annual dues of $86 per year (not mandatory for those who are age 70 plus). We are appealing to all ladies of Christ Church Cathedral who are eligible, both young and old to get more involved with your Church and join us in helping to continue building up God’s Kingdom!

Communion Hymn. . . . .598 - Here, O My Lord, I See Thee Face To Face (Tune: Old 124th)

Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to face; here faith would I touch and handle things unseen,

here grasp with firmer hand the eternal grace, and all my weariness upon thee lean.

Here would I feed upon the bread of God;

here drink with thee the royal wine of heaven; here would I lay aside each earthly load: here taste afresh the calm of sin forgiven.

I have no help but thine, nor do I need another arm save thine to lean upon:

it is enough, my Lord, enough indeed; my strength is in thy might, thy might alone.

(Tune: Richmond)

that my whole being may proclaim thy being and thy ways.

2. Not for the lip of praise alone,

Nor e’en the praising heart, I ask, but for a life made up

Of praise in every part:

3. Praise in the common things of life, Its goings out and in;

Praise in each duty and each deed, However small and mean.

Give Thanks to God

My brothers and sisters, we had earlier made our commitments to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to follow him in humble sheeplike discipleship; and we have gone through the remembrance of the wilderness days, the passion and the crucifixion of our Lord. We have only recently marked with enjoyable activity the glorious resurrection of the Christ and are now in the period of remembering the cementing of the faith in God of the apos-tles. I pray that we are still doing what we have committed to do. It is good to have memorialized the various events in the life of Christ and to seek to celebrate as many of them as possible. We must always keep foremost in our minds, though, that we are not celebrating and remember-ing the various things for celebrating only since there would be the tenden-cy for the celebrating itself to become the raison d’etre. There is little doubt that the remembering and celebration of the birth of Christ, which we do at Christmas, have taken on a life of their own so much so that the remembering and celebration are themselves the reason for the season rather than the giving of thanks to God for the coming into our lives, in human form, the only begotten Son of Our Lord to redeem us to the Lord. The celebration of an event in the life of Christ must be used as an oppor-tunity for us to thank the Lord for the many things he has done, is doing and will do for us. And we must be constantly thanking God, for it is He

4. Fill every part of me with praise:

let all my being speak of thee and of thy love, O Lord,

poor though I be and weak.

5. So shalt thou, Lord, receive from me

the praise and glory due; and so shall I begin on earth

the song for ever new.

6. So shall each fear, each fret, each care,

be turned into song: and every winding of the way

the echo shall prolong.

7. So shall no part of day or night

unblest or common be; but all my life, in every step,

be fellowship with thee.

and He alone who, causes us to wake daily from our death-like slumbers and He alone has our lives ever in His hands. For this reason we must be thanking God without ceasing for all of us like the idea of being alive, even if that life is not ideal. We must always give God thanks because we of ourselves nor with any-one else’s help can do nothing to ensure that we wake up after our sleep to the new mercies of each returning day. Our thanks to God should there-fore continue throughout the day because it is still God that keeps us alive more abundantly as he has promised as the Good Shepherd. In giving thanks to God for the many things he has done for us (including all those things which are done for us that we take for granted and do not ever recognize that they are things for which we must give God thanks) we bring ourselves to the point where the psalm appointed for this Sunday would reflect our attitude. And if we use our time to give thanks to God continually there would be no time or place for Satan. Psalm 67 is a song of thanksgiving to the God who governs the world and the nations of the world. It is partly in these words:-

1 May God be merciful to us and bless us, *show us the light of his countenance and come to us. 2 Let your ways be known upon earth, *your saving health among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; *let all the peoples praise you. 4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, *for you judge the peoples with equity and guide all the nations upon earth.

My brothers and sisters, in like manner do not think of Easter only as the day of the resurrection of our Lord but give God thanks for what he has done for us through it. Do not celebrate Easter only as a generally im-portant time for the world but live it, remember it and celebrate it as the day the Lord provided for us (you and me) the confirmation of our life eternal and our individual keys to heaven. Give God thanks and praise Him and continue with Jesus’ caveat - “Have Faith in God!”

WE NEED YOU TO MAKE IT HAPPEN: The Cathedral needs some $15,000.00 weekly to remain solvent and to contribute its share to our Di-ocesan Commitments. We are receiving an average income from Envelopes and Open Collection of $11,100.00 weekly, which is insufficient to cover our expenses and obligations. Your Tithes and Offerings are of critical im-portance to the operation of Christ Church Cathedral and The Anglican Di-ocese as a whole.

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflow-ing blessing.” Malachi 3:10 The Cathedral needs your help! By consistently making your weekly contri-bution, it will help us plan our expenses and cash flow better; so we encour-age all members to be faithful in your financial support. Of course, whenev-er you can increase your level of contribution it will help to close the fund-ing gap and offset any shortfalls from week to week. We look forward to your continued support.

BIBLE STUDY: The Dean will be leading a Wednesday evening (6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.) Bible Study in the Fall. In preparation for this, all interested persons are asked to place their names on the Registration Form at the back of the church or email your name and telephone num-ber to [email protected]
