We’ve decided to make it a little bit easier for you by providing you with our “University of Essque - Cape Town 101 Training Module” that will give you all the info you need to confi dently sell the destination to your clients.

Where is Cape Town?Cape Town is located at the very tip of the African continent in the Republic of South Africa.Known as the “Mother City” as a result of it being the fi rst port of entry for the original European settlers from Holland who arrived in 1652 and from whom the Cape inherited some of its exquisite Dutch style architecture, Cape Town is a melting pot of exciting cultures and high on many world travellers bucket lists.

Cape Town is known for its Mediterranean climate, its fantastic restaurants, buzzing night life, great shopping and not to mention the world-famous Cape Wines! Cape Townis perfectly located for exploring the historic towns of Stellenbosch and Paarl or for venturing further afi eld to the wine routes of Worcester and Robertson.

Cape Town can be used as a base for exploring the Cape Winelands, (don’t forget to bookthe lovely Essque Residences at Franschhoek!), the Cape Peninsula and as a start or end point for South Africa’s famous Garden Route.

We would recommend a stay of at least 5 nights in the City if your clients are planning on moving on to another destination such as the Winelands or a safari, or at least 7 - 10 days for a City only stay. Due to the frequency of fl ights from Europe and a similar time zone, Cape Town has also become popular for long-weekends!

Extensive fl ight connections are available to the United States, into Africa, Far East, South America and Australia through Johannesburg onto Cape Town. Flyng time between Johannes-burg and Cape Town is approximately 2 hours.

How do my clients get to the City?If your clients are arriving at Cape Town International Airport, we recommend that you pre-book a transfer through Essque Residences. Your client will be met with a sign-board with their names and transferred in an air-conditioned vehicle. The transfer time is approximately 25 minutes.

Alternatively, car rental within South Africa is safe and aff ordable. Most major international car rental companies are represented at Cape Town International Airport and can be booked through Essque Residences.

When is the best time to go?The Western Cape enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Summers are between November and March and are generally warm and in the late 20’s, early 30’s - degrees centigrade. Winter is between June and September when the mountains around Franschhoek are capped with snow. Know as the green season, there is some rain interspersed with mild, sunny days.

What is the local time?Cape Town is GMT + 2 hours.

The Paarl Wine Route, located about 45 minutes away from Cape Town, also offers a host of great vineyards and dining ptions.

The world famous Stellenbosch is around 30 minutes drive through picturesque scenery. The second oldest town in South Africa, Stellenbosch is well worth a days exploration and is also home to some of the country’s most well known wine estates.

Just over the mountain, the lovely Worcester and Roberston Wine Routes are an easy 1 h 20 mins drive away, perfect for a day outing for lunch for the adventurous guest wishingto venture a little further afield.

Getting AroundGetting around Cape Town is easy with public buses and taxis readily available. If your clients want to venture further afield a rental car is recommended, but please remember, if you are planning on doing some wine tasting, make sure you have a designated driver or ask your Essque Residences Navigator to reserve you a car and driver for the day! Cape Town itself is easily explored on foot as the Residences are in the Centre of the City.
