• ALIGNMENT: Imagine walking into your math class and finding the desks all askew throughout the room. How would you get to and from your desk? The same goes for parking lots; what if cars could just park anywhere? Alignment brings order to chaos, in a parking lot and on a piece of paper. How you align type and graphics on a page and in relation to each other can make or break good design. Although you might not know what good design is, your eye does and people will automatically gravitate towards a layout that shows strong alignment of its elements.

• Here are some examples of alignment from: http://desktoppub.about.com/od/alignment/ss/alignment.htm

ASSIGNMENT: Use landscape 8.5×11 paper, create a poster that shows use of alignment.

The word alignment must be included on your poster, as does the following:

• THREE identical shapes/images which are close to each other and aligned along an imaginary vertical line which is at least ½ inch from the left edge. These must all be one color.

• THREE identical shapes/images which are different from the first three, and are close to each other and aligned along an imaginary vertical line which is at least ½ inch from the right edge. These must all be one color different from the left side.

• However far from the left side you draw your images, it will need to be the same spacing from the right.

• The top shape/image in each group should be aligned along an imaginary horizontal line which is at least ½ inch from the top edge.

• Make your items align with the word “alignment” in some way.• No Markers!
