2. GETTING STARTEDeSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™checkstoseeifAndroidEventInjectionserviceisenabled.Ifitisdisabled,youwillbepromptedto enableit.Enablingthisletsyouturnonandusemajorapplication featuresandfunctions.

3. USING THE ACCESSIBILITY MODES3.1. Using Hands-free ModeHands-freemodeletsyoucontrolyourmobiledevicewithoutusingyourhands.Instead,youcancontrolthecursorbymovingyourhead.Movingyourheadinanydirectionletsyoutonavigatetoanypointonthescreen.Hands-freemodealsoletsyouperformtap,swipe,and scrollactionswherethecursorstops.

Toenterhands-freemode,tap thehands-freemodebutton (see Figure 1).

Toperformatapaction,movethecursoruntilitsstopsonthescreenwhereyouwanttotap.Aloaderappearsonthecursorindicatingtheamountoftimeremainingtoperformtheaction.Loaderdisappearsassoonasthesetamountoftimeiscompleteandactionisperformed.

Toperformascrollaction,swipeactionortoaccessotherfunctions(such as open recent apps, home, back, volume up, and volume down),openthespecialmenu.Toopenthespecialmenu,hoveroverthespecialmenubutton(see Figure 2).

3.1.1 Performing Swipe Action1. TostartSwipemodeandperform

swipegesture,clickontheDragiconintheDefaultSpecialmenu.Default cursor icon (see Figure 7) willchangetoDragcursoricon(see Figure 6)andDefaultSpecialmenuwillchangetoSwipegesture menu (see Figure 4).

2. Tostartswipegesture,locatethestartingpointoftheswipegestureonscreenandhoveroverthatpointforasetamountoftimeindicatedbyloader.Thisrecordsthestartingpointofthegesturewhichisindicatedbythechangeinthecolorofthedragcursoricon(see Figure 5).

3. Tocompletethegesture,locatetheendingpointoftheswipegestureonscreenandhoveroverthatpointforasetamountoftimeindicatedbytheloader.Thisperformstheswipegesture.SwipemodeisautomaticallydisabledandDragcursoriconchangesbacktotheDefaultcursoricon.

4. Inordertopreventautomaticdisablingoftheswipegesturemodeafterperformingswipe,youhavetostartLockswipemode.TostartLockswipemodeclickontheDragicontwice.DefaultspecialmenuchangestotheLockswipe gesture menu (see Figure 8)indicatingthattheLockswipemodeisstarted.

3.1.2 Performing Long Click Action1. TostartLongclickmodeand

performlongclickgesture,clickontheLongclickiconintheDefaultspecial menu. Default cursor icon (see Figure 10)willchangetoLongclick cursor icon (see Figure 11)andDefaultspecialmenuwillchangetoLong click gesture menu (see Figure 9).

2. Toperformlongclickgesture,locatethepointonscreenwhereyouwishtoperformlongclickgestureandhoveroverthatpointforasetamountoftimeindicatedbyloader.Thisperformsthelongclickactiononthatpoint.LongclickmodeisautomaticallydisabledandLongclickcursoriconchangesbacktothedefaultcursoricon.

Tolockthecursor,tapthelockcursorbuttonofthespecialmenu.Whenthecursorislocked,thecursorcannotmoveandyoucannotperformatapaction(see Figure 13).

3. InordertopreventautomaticdisablingoftheLongclickmodeafterperforminglongclick,youhavetostartLocklongclickmode.TostartLocklongclickmode,clickontheLongclickicontwice.DefaultspecialmenuchangestotheLocklongclickgesturemenu(see Figure 12)indicatingthattheLocklongclickmodeisstarted.

3.2. Using XY ModeXY modeletsyoucontrolyourdeviceusingon-screencoordinates.

Everypointonthescreenhaslatitudeandlongitudecoordinates,likepointsonamap.Eachpointhas“XY”coordinates,likethegraphbelow (see Figure 15).

XY modeletsyoutargetaspecificpointonthescreen.Ithelpsyoupinpointthelatitudeandlongitudecoordinateswhereyouwantyourcursor to target.

Forexample,yourcursortargets thepointwheretwoXY mode lines intersect.

WhenXY modeisactive,thisis howitworks:

1. Ahorizontallinemovesdownfromthetopofthescreen.Tapwhenyouwantthehorizontalline to stop.

2. Averticallinemovesfromthe lefttotherightofthescreen. Tapwhenyouwanttheverticalline to stop.

3. Thespotwherethetwolinesintersectactsasyourcursor andperformsaspecified action(see Figure 16). Figure 16:XYmodecoordinate

Using XY mode with a switch device

YoucanpaireSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™toworkwithaswitchdevice.Toworkasapair,yourmobiledeviceandswitchdevicemustbeconfigured.Theycanbesyncedforone-buttonortwo-buttoncontrol.Youwillbeabletonavigatetoanypositiononthescreenandperformmobiledeviceactions,liketapping,scrolling,swiping,goback,gohome,openrecentapps,turnvolumeup,andturnvolumedown.Intwo-buttonmode,youcanalsoassignswitchdevicebuttontoperformadirectaction.

Controlling your device in one-button mode

Inone-buttonmode,youcanconfigureyourswitchdevice buttonto:

• startmovingtheXY mode horizontalline

• startmovingtheXY mode verticalline

• performatapactionwhereyourcursorintersectsthehorizontalandverticallines

• openeSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™application’sspecialmenu,whichislocatedinthetopleftcornerofthescreen (see Figure 18)

• performatapactiononaniteminthespecialmenu

TheeSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™application’sspecialmenumakesthephone’shardwarebuttonsaccessible.Hardwarebuttonssuchashome,back,menu,volumeup,andvolumedowncanbeaccessedinthismenu(see Figure 19).Anavigationalitem,“Inverse”,isalsoavailableinthismenu.“Inverse”letsyouchangethedirectionsthatthelinesmove. 3.2.1 Performing Swipe Action1. TostartSwipemodeandperform

swipegesture,clickontheDragiconintheOne-buttonmodespecialmenu.One-buttonmodespecialmenuwillchangetoSwipegesture menu (see Figure 20).

2. Tostartswipegesture,locatethestartingpointoftheswipegestureonscreenandperformtapaction.Thisrecordsthestartingpointofthegesture.

3. Tocompletethegesture,locatetheendingpointoftheswipegestureonscreenandperformtap.Thisperformstheswipegesture.Swipemodeisautomaticallydisabled.

4. Inordertopreventautomaticdisablingoftheswipegesturemodeafterperformingswipe,youhavetostartLockswipemode.TostartLockswipemodeclickontheDragicontwice.One-buttonmodespecialmenuchangestotheLockswipegesturemenu(see Figure 21)indicatingthattheLockswipemodeisstarted.


Bypressingandholdingyourswitchdevicebuttonforonesecond,youcanaccessamenuwiththesenavigationalitems(see Figure 24):

• scroll up

• scrolldown

• swipeleft

• swiperight

Atanytimewhenscrollingandswipingactionsarenotavailable,youwillreceiveamessagenotifyingyouthatscrollingandswipingactionsareunavailable.

3.2.2 Performing Long Click Action1. TostartLongclickmodeand

performlongclickgesture,clickontheLongclickiconintheOne-buttonmodespecialmenu.DefaultspecialmenuwillchangetoLongclick gesture menu (see Figure 22).

2. Toperformlongclickgesture,locatethepointonscreenwhereyouwishtoperformlongclickgestureandperformtap.Thisperformsthelongclickactiononthatpoint.Longclickmodeisautomaticallydisabled.

3. InordertopreventautomaticdisablingoftheLongclickmodeafterperforminglongclick,youhavetostartLocklongclickmode.TostartLocklongclickmodeclickontheLongclickicontwice.One-buttonmodespecialmenuchangestotheLock long click gesture menu (see Figure 23).indicatingthattheLocklongclickmodeisstarted.


Controlling your mobile device in two-button mode

Intwo-buttonmode,youcanassigndirectactionsforyourswitch devicebuttons.

Twoexamples:

Scenario 1:Thefirstbuttonisassignedto“Select”action.Thesecondbutton isassignedto“Reversedirection”action.

Scenario 2:Thefirstbuttonisassignedto“Select”action.Thesecondbutton isassignedto“Showmenu”action.

3.3. Using Easy Grid ModeEasy Grid modeletsyoucontrolyourdeviceusingvoicecommands.

Youcanmovethecursortoanypointonthescreenandperformanactionwiththecursor.

Inthismodeyoucanseeatranslucentgridonthescreenandcanmovethecursortothecentreofanycellonthegrid.Thecellsinthisgridarelabeledmuchlikecellsinaspreadsheet:columnsarelabeledwithlettersandrowsarelabeledwithnumbers.Eachcell’slabelconsistsofaletterandanumber.Forinstance,youcanmovethecursortothesecondcellinthethirdrowbysaying“Go to B3.”

3.4. Using Tag ModeTagmodeletsyoucontrolyourdeviceusingvoicecommands.Itfirsthighlightsalltheclickablepointsonascreenbylettersandnumbers,andyoucanusethevoicecommands,asdescribedaboveintheEasyGridmode,tomovetothesepointsandperformfurtheractionsusingvoicecommandsonly.(see Figure 25 and 26).

Therearerestrictionsontheclickableelementsthatareshown.Onlytheelementsthatarereportedasclickablefromanaccessibilityservicepointofviewareshown.Theremaybemoreclickablepointsthatcanthenbereachedbymovingthecursorwithvoicecommands.

ThismodeisanenhancementtoEasyGridmode,toprovidequickeraccesstotheclickablepointsonyourdevicescreen.


3.5. Sending FeedbackYoucansendfeedbackabouttheeSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™application.Tosendfeedback,tapthe“Sendfeedback”buttonfromthestartscreen(see Figure 27).Aformwillopenwhereyoucantypeinyourquestionsor concerns (see Figure 28).

Type in your feedback and tap the “Send” button to send us feedback.

Tap the “Cancel” button to close the feedback form.

4. SETTINGS4.1. General4.1.1 About ApplicationIntheaboutapplicationsection,youcanchecktheeSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™versionorsendusfeedback.

4.1.2 Activate on LaunchYoumayseteSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™toactivateonlaunch.Ifactivated,eSSENTIALAccessibilityforAndroid™willautomaticallyruninaccessibilitymodeonyourdevice.Itretainsthemodelastusedthelasttimeitwasopen.Toggletheswitchtoturnonorturnoffactivateonlaunch.Thisfunctionisturnedonbydefault.

4.2. Hands-free mode4.2.1 Cursor SensitivityYoucanadjustthecursorspeedusingthesliders(see Figure 29).

Tapping the “Apply” button saves changes to the cursor settings.

Tapping the “Cancel” button discards all changes.

4.2.2 Auto-tapAuto-tapisafeaturethatallowsyoutosetconditionsforautomatictapping.Theapplicationperformsatapactionautomaticallywhenthecursor stops for a set amount of time.Youcanadjusttheslidertosetthenumberofsecondsthecursorhasstoppedbeforeitperformsanautomatictapaction(see Figure 30).

Thisscreenalsoallowsyoutotoggleonorofftherepeattapaction.Whenturnedon,therepeattapactionperformsautomatictapsinintervalswhenthecursorhasstoppedforasetamountoftime.Whenturnedoff,atapactionisperformedonlyoncewhenthecursorhasstopped.Togglerepeattapswitchtoturnonorturnoffauto-tap(see Figure 30).

4.2.3 Auto-swipeAuto-swipeisafeaturethatallowsyoutosetconditionsforautomaticswiping.Theapplicationperformsaswipeactionwhenthecursorstopsattheleftorrightedgesofthescreenforasetamountoftimewhichisindicatedbytheloader.Youcanadjusttheslidertosetthenumberofsecondsthecursorneedstostopattheedgeofthescreenbeforeitperformsaswipeaction(see Figure 31).

Toggle the switch to turn on or turn off auto-swipe (see Figure 32).

4.2.4 Auto Switch-offAuto-switchoffisafeaturethatallowsyoutosetconditionsforhands-freemodetoturnoffautomatically(see Figure 33).

Youmaywanttoturnthisontosavebatteryortoduringperiodsofcursorinactivity.Afterasetamountoftime,hands-freemodeautomaticallyturnsoff.

Tapping the “Apply” button saves changes to the auto switch-off settings.


Toggle the switch to turn on or turn off auto switch-off (see Figure 34).

4.2.5 ViewfinderViewfinderisafeaturethatdetectsyourfacepositionandassistsinoperatinghands-freemode.Youcansettheapplicationtoautomaticallyhidetheviewfinderwhenyourfaceisinfocus.Ifturnedon,theviewfinderautomaticallyappearswhenyourfaceisoutof focus (see Figure 35).

Youmaysetthepositionoftheviewfinderonthescreen.

Thesearetheoptions:

• topleft

• topmiddle

• topright

4.2.6 Floating MenuFloatingmenuisafeaturethatmakesthephone’shardwarebuttonsaccessible.Hardwarebuttonssuchashome,back,menu,volumeup,andvolumedowncanbeaccessedinthefloatingmenu.

Thefloatingmenusettingsletyouadjusttheopacityofthefloatingmenu.Opacitysetsthevisualtransparencyofthefloatingmenu.Youmayadjusttheopacityofthefloatingmenuusingtheopacityslider(see Figure 36).

Thefloatingmenualsoletsyousetafixedorunfixedpositionforthefloatingmenu.Positionofthefloatingmenucanbe:

• fixed,inoneofthethreeunfixedscreenpositions

• unfixed,wherethefloatingmenudisplaysautomaticallybesidethecursorwhenthecursorremainsstillforasetamountoftime

Tosetafixedpositiononthescreen:

1. Togglethe“Followcursor” sliderto“off”.

2. Selectoneofthethreefixedscreenpositions:bottomleft,bottommiddle,orbottomright.

3. Tap“Apply”buttonto savechanges.

Tosetanunfixedpositionon thecursor:

1. Togglethe“Followcursor” sliderto“on”.

2. Tap“Apply”buttonto savechanges.

Tapping the “Apply” button saves changes to the floating menu settings.
