European Cloud: Vision or Fiction
Recently at the e-SRT:
On the 27th of January, the e-SRT and AFCEA Eu-
rope ran a joint event in cooperation with DG
Connect on “Cloud 4 Europe”, a highly topical
theme that will affect all of us and will dominate
the IT-related public discussions and will so for
sure also influence the debates and decision mak-
ing processes of the European institutions over the
next years. The symposium kicks off with an ex-
citing discussion for a European cloud relying on a
robust European critical infrastructure for the pub-
lic environment: top-level politicians as well as
representatives from industry and government
hold a debate on current opportunities and pro-
vide the vision for the future.
Consisting in an opening session starring Director General Dr. Zoran Stančič
and 4 breakaway sessions, the Conference touched different aspects of
cloud computing: from the economic advantages and best practice exam-
ples to the coordination and regulation across-Europe to the development
of standards to security and privacy related-issues.
