Fillreservoirwithonlycleanandcoldwater. Observethemaximumfillingvolumeis2.5litres.

• Donotremovethefilterhandleduringtheespressopourorwaterflowastheunitisunderpressure.Removingthefilterhandleduringeitheroftheseoperationscanleadtoascaldingorinjury.

• Thesteamwandbecomesveryhotduringtexturingmilkandwaterflow.Thismaycauseburnsincase

ofcontact,thereforeavoidanydirectcontactwiththesteamwand.

• Alwaysdisconnecttheplugfromthepoweroutletpriortocleaningtheespressomachineorifthere isanyproblemduringthecoffeemakingprocess.

• Donotallowthepowercordtocomeintocontactwiththehotpartsoftheespressomachine,includingthecupwarmingplateandsteamwand.

Thermoblock Heating System

Thethermoblockheatingsystemheatsthewaterensuringtheprecisetemperatureisachievedforeachfunction.Additionally,theone-piececonstructionandstainlesssteeltubingofthethermoblockeffectivelyslowsscalebuildupandreducesthefrequencyofcleaningrequired.

Pre-InfusionPre-infusionisprogrammedintotheMANUAL,singleanddoubleespressooperations.Itisagradualincreaseofwaterpressurepre-soakingthecoffeecakebeforefullwaterpressureisapplied.Thisinturndeliversgreaterbodyandsweetnesstotheespresso.

Espresso GaugeTheespressogaugeisanindicatorofthequalityoftheespressopourandshouldbeusedasaguide.Itmeasuresthepressureorresistancecreatedbywaterbeingpumpedthroughthetampedcoffeegrindsinthegrouphandle.Whilsttheneedleiswithinthetargetareaonthegaugeitindicatesthataqualityserveofespressohasbeenmade.Thisisindicatedbyaslowandsteadypourofliquidespressowithaconsistencysimilartothatofdrippinghoney.Thecremashouldbedarkgoldenincolour.

Shouldtheneedlefailtoreachthetargetareathisisanindicationthattheserveofespressois‘under-extracted’.Thisoccurswhenwaterpassestooquicklythroughthetampedcoffeegrindsandisanindicationthateitherthegrindneedstobemadefinerorthefilterbaskethasbeenunder-dosed.Thepourisquickandlightincolourandtheresultingcremaisthinwithacreamylightbrowncolour.Whentheneedlegoesbeyondthetargetareaitisanindicationthattheserveofespressois‘over-extracted’.Thisoccurswhenthewaterpassesveryslowlythroughthetampedcoffeegrindsandisanindicationthateitherthegrindistoofineorthefilterbaskethasbeenover-dosed.Inthissituationthehotwaterisincontactwiththecoffeegrindsfortoolongthuscreatingaburntandbittertastingespresso.Thisischaracterisedbytheespressoonlyslowlydrippingduringtheentirepourandthecremaisverydark.

PowerPressthe‘POWER’buttononcetoturntheespressomachineon.Thelightonthebuttonwillstartflashing;thisistoindicatethatyourespressomachineisonandisheatingup.

Ready ModeWhenthelightonthe‘POWER’buttonstopsflashingandturnstoaconstantredlight,thisindicatesthattheespressomachineisheatedandreadytouse.Thelightsaroundthe'MANUAL','SINGLE','DOUBLE'and'HOTWATER/STEAM'buttonswillshowaconstantredlight.ThemachineisnowinReadyMode.

Note:Rememberthatifthelightonthe‘POWER’buttonisflashingitmeanstheespressomachineisadjustingthetemperatureoftheheatingsystem.Toturntheespressomachineoff,simplypressthe‘POWER’button,theredpowerlightandallotherlightsonthecontrolpanelwillturnoff.

Programming the Single or Double poursTheprogramfunctionallowsthecoffeemakertopersonaliseandsavetheirownespressopoursettings.

Toprogramthe‘SINGLE’and‘DOUBLE’coffeepourstheespressomachineneedstobeinSTANDBYMODE(sothemachineispluggedinandturnedonatthewall,butthepoweronthemachinehasnotyetbeenturnedon).

Toactivatetheprogramfunctionforthe‘SINGLE’and‘DOUBLE’espressopours,thecoffeemakerneedstopressandholddownboththe‘SINGLE’and‘DOUBLE’buttons.Whilestillholdingdownthesetwobuttonsbrieflypressthe‘POWER’buttonandreleaseallbuttons.Wheninprogrammingmodethelightsaroundthe‘SINGLE’and‘DOUBLE’buttonswillslowlyflash(dimmingupanddown).

Dependingonwhichpouryouwanttoprogram,presseitherthe‘SINGLE’or‘DOUBLE’espressopourbuttons,uponreleasethepourwillbegin.

Note:Forbestresultsthecoffeemakeshouldonlymakechangestothe‘SINGLE’and‘DOUBLE’coffeepourvolumesbyengagingthecoffeehandlefittedwitheitherthesingleordoublebasket,packedwithcoffee.

Whenthedesiredpouramounthasbeenreachedpresstheflashingcoffeebuttontosetthenewvolume.Alongbeepwillsoundconfirmingtheprogramsavedandthemachinewillgointo‘READYMODE’.Note:Formoredetailedinformationonprogrammingrefertopage17‘Programmingyourespressomachine’.

SteamThesteamfunctionallowsthecoffeemakertoproducesteamoutofthesteamwandfortexturingmilk.Toactivatethesteamfunction,thecoffeemakersimplyneedstopressthe‘STEAM’button.Bydesignthetemperatureoftheespressomachinewilladjustasnecessary.Theremaybeashortdelaywhileyouwait.Note:Whenthecoffeemakerhasactivatedthesteamfunctionthelightaroundthe‘STEAM’buttonwillshowaconstantredlightandthelightbehindthe‘MANUAL’,‘SINGLE’and‘DOUBLE’buttonswillgooff.Additionallythelightonthe‘POWER’buttonwillremainon.Note:Ifthelightbehindthe‘STEAM’buttonisflashingitmeanstheespressomachineisadjustingthetemperatureoftheheatingsystem.Youwillbeabletousethesteamwhileitisheatingupbutthisisnotadvisedasthesteamwillbewetterthanifthemachineisfullyheatedup.Oncetheespressomachineisheatedtothecorrecttemperature,sothelightbehindthe‘STEAM’buttonstopsflashingandshowsaconstantredlight,thecoffeemakerisabletousetheespressomachine.Thecoffeemakersimplyneedstoturnthesteamandhotwatercontroldialanti-clockwisetothe‘MAX’settingtostartandturnitbacktothe‘OFF’positiontostop.Pressthe'STEAM'buttonagaintodeactivatethesteamfunction.Note: Whenyouhavefinishedsteaming,ensurethesteamandhotwatercontroldialisfullyturnedoff.Ifthesteamandhotwatercontroldialisleftopen,thecoffeemakerwillnotbeabletoswitchtothe‘COFFEE’or‘HOTWATER’functions.

Programming Single Espresso1.Tostartprogrammingtheespressomachine

needstobein‘STANDBYMODE’.Sothemachineispluggedinandswitchedonatthepowerpoint,butthemachineitselfisnotpoweredon.

2.Preparethefilterhandle.Fitthegrouphandlewiththesinglefilterbasket(12)andfillwithfinelygroundcoffee(14).Usingthecoffeetampsupplied,tampthecoffeegrinds(15).Securethegrouphandletothegrouphead(17)(18).

3.Placeacupunderbothpouringspouts(19).
