ESI[tronic]™ 2.0 Online Updates of Intermediate SD Content
1. AfterinstallingESI2.02012/4onthePC,left clickonthe“showhiddenicons”arrowiconinbottomrightof
windows“taskbar”.
2. Holdmouseover“BoschDiagnosticsDownloadManager”icon.
3. Double clickontheiconorright clickmouseonthedownloadmanagerandleft clickon“open”.
4. Onthedownloadmanager,ensurethatyouareinthelogintab,typeinyourESI[tronic]customerno.andpassword
thatyoureceivedwithyouroriginalBoschESI2.0license.Thisonlyneedstobedonethefirsttimeyousetthisup.
Left click“OK”.Downloadmanagerboxwillminimizeanddownloadwillruninthebackground.
Theactualinstallationofthevariousdownloadswillbecoveredinalaterstep.

5. Whenyouarereadytoinstalltheupdate,reopendownloadmanagerbyfollowingstepsa,b,c.
Note: Don’t change default proxy settings on the “Proxy settings” tab.
Don’t change the download settings in the “Automatic updates” tab.
6. WhenDownloadmanagerboxopensup,ensurethatyouareinthedownloadstab.Youwillseeabunchofdownloads
availabletobeinstalled.Left clickon“Execute”atthebottomtoinstallthem.
7. Followthescreenprompts,thiswillinstalltheallthedownloads.
Pleasenotethatsomeoftheinstallsmayhappensilently.
The“finish”boxmayonlycomeuponthelatestdownloadinstalledandnotfortheotherones.

Upgrading the M-VCI Firmware Following an Online UpdateOnceyouhavesuccessfullydownloadedandinstalledtheonlineupdatepackagestoyourPC,youwillneedto
upgradethefirmwareontheM-VCI.Itisimportanttonotethattherearetwocategoriesoffirmwareupgrades.
� Partial upgradeincludesonlyapplicationfirmwaresuchastheVirtualMastertech(VMT)
andtheM-VCIKTS(KVCI)applications.
� Full upgradethatincludesM-VCIPlatformsoftware;applicationfirmwaresuchasthe
VirtualMastertech(VMT)andtheM-VCIKTS(KVCI)applications.
Thebehaviorofthefirmwareupgradeprocessdiffersdependingonwhetherapartialorfullupgradeisrequired.
UsethefollowingstepstoupgradethefirmwareonyourM-VCI.

1. AftertheOnlineUpdatedownload
packageshavebeeninstalledtoyour
PC,connectyourM-VCItoyourPCvia
USBandlaunchESI[tronic]2.0.The
M-VCIfirmwareupgradeprocessstarts
anddetermineswhetherapartial,full,
ornoupgradeisrequired.
2. Ifonlyapartialupgradeisneeded,itstartsautomatically
anddisplaysaprogressbarsimilartothefollowing.
3. Ifafullupgradeisneeded,ESI[tronic]displays
thefollowingdialoginstructingyoutoperform
theupgrademanuallyusingVCIManager.
4. Atthecompletionofeitherafullorpartialupgrade
theM-VCIwillre-bootitself.Duringthistimeperiod
ESI[tronic]displaysthefollowingdialog.ClickOK
andwaituntilthebootprocesscompletes.
Important Note Regarding USB Connectivity and Firmware Upgrades:
Inordertoinitiateafullorpartialupgrade,theM-VCImustbeconnectedtothePCviatheUSBport.
Firmwareupgradesarenotsupportedoverawirelessconnection.IfUSBconnectivityisnotestablished
priortoinitiatingapartialupgradefromESI[tronic]awarningmessagewillbedisplayed.Inaddition,if
USBconnectivityisnotestablishedpriortoinitiatingafullupgradefromVCIManager,theUpdateVCI
buttonwillbedisableduntiltheM-VCIisconnectedtothePCwithaUSBcable.
