1. GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1 Quick facts & figures
1.2 Introduction
Digital Health is now the third largest industry in the European health sector, after pharmaceuticals and medical devices. But where do the experts stand on Digital Health today and what are the opportunities and the hurdles that lie ahead?
With this first Summit on Digital Health, the ESC is positioning itself at the forefront of this new domain in Cardiovascular Medicine. We aim to provide a structured scientific and educational programme, as well as a platform for exchange and interaction to support the development of Digital Health across the ESC and its constituent bodies.
A variety of stakeholders contributed to this event: Clinicians, Key Opinion Leaders, new digital technology developers and start-ups, Industry partners from the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices sectors.
A rich scientific programme covering the latest, cutting-edge technology was the platform for interactive discussions on all things Digital Health via various formats such as roundtables, call for Technology Sessions, workshops, Industry Tech Talks and a dedicated Exhibition Area.

Industry feedback
Global Feedback
Industries were generally very happy with their experience in Tallinn, support from ESC team as well as from suppliers. Attendance was
very good, and the Digital Summit is deemed a success.
Exhibition
Stand Packages: Companies were satisfied with the product. Some companies considered that despite open stands, delegates were not
entering (WeHealth Digital Medicine / Bayer) while other companies did not face this issue (Siemens Healthineers).
Digital Health Stations: Companies generally satisfied.
Customised stands: Request for possibility to welcome custom stands for potentially reusing design already validated at ESC Congress.
Screens on Exhibition: Request to have Smart Screen allowing projection of Powerpoint or videos without computer
Pathway: Request from companies to favour in next edition a pathway to invite delegates to visit stands.
Sessions
Great and innovative sessions.
Roundtable: Communication on the possibility for industry partners to be part of these roundtables has not been communicated enough
and/or the message was not clear enough on expectations.
Digital Arena: There is a need for a bigger Arena welcoming more participants.
Digital Arena/Pitch sessions: Format was very successful and shorts sessions are very much appreciated (30mins)
Session visibility: Improvement could be made on session visibility in the mobile app. A format such as an Outlook agenda that allows
more visibility would be ideal.
Other
Communication: Request from Industry Partners to clarify the message and distinction between ESC Digital Summit and ESC Congress
Digital Health Area. The fact that the Summit is addressing a more expert attendance, with a multi-stakeholder population (Engineers, CIO,
Cardiologists, Patients, Regulators) has not been emphasised enough.
WIFI: Was not optimised on the Exhibition. Some delegates had difficulties to download an App.
High Speed WIFI: Request for High speed internet offer to exhibitors
Catering: Lack of water points. Outside coffee break hours and lunch time when the cash bar was open, there was no water in the venue.
Cash Bar: Opening hours should be extended.
Summit Location
As Digital Summit is held immediately after ESC Congress, suggestion from industry to hold the Digital Summit in the same city as ESC
Congress to ease the process of compliance validation and everything that has already been done for ESC Congress.

Mobile App Figures Analysed period 31 July – 20 October 2019
General metrics
The congress app was downloaded 760 times. 540 participants, including
exhibitors.
As 17% were done during ESC Congress 2019 some of the users might have
downloaded the app to check the programme or get information on the
congress and did not attend the congress. Users might also have downloaded the
app on several devices.
Downloads per platform
iOS devices are the most widely used with 516 downloads, representing 68% of
overall downloads. The distribution by platforms is the same as for other
congresses.
Downloads per day
The app was launched on 31 July to encourage downloads before the event (to limit WIFI access on site) especially during ESC Congress
2019 and to allow participants to prepare their congress programme via the app.

This graph shows the number of active devices connected to ESC Digital Summit 2019 module. One user = one device: if you use the app
on your iPad and your iPhone on the same day, you will be counted twice. A user is only counted if he/she undertakes an action within the
app (app launch, click of a button, access a map ...).
On the most intensive day – congress day 1 – the app was used on 420 devices, representing 55% of downloads. This figure is lower than
other congresses which are usually around 70%, but as there were 540 delegates, this figure is a very good one.
