What is ERP*?• Enterprise software is integrated software that facilitates the flow of

information among all the processes of an organization’s supply chain.

• A supply chain describes the chronological and logical relationships of business transactions from original supply to final consumption.

• A value chain encompasses those activities in the supply chain that add value to a product or service of an organization.

• A value chain views all the business events from the receipt of a customer order to the delivery of that order. For example, value is added when the production process takes raw materials and transforms them into a finished product, when the product is sold to the customer. A company is profitable if the price consumers are willing to pay for a product exceeds the costs of creating value.

What is SAP*?• The company name, SAP, is an acronym for Systems,

Applications and Products in Data Processing (in German: Systemanalyse und Programmentwicklung). The company was founded in 1972 by four former IBM employees. The company's headquarters are in Walldorf in Germany.

• SAP R/3 is a vast suite of software that helps business managers implement ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) which is a business management system that integrates all facets of the business, including planning, manufacturing, sales, and marketing.
