Make 2017 the Year for the Family – Part 2 (Part 1 published February 2017)
I hope you were able to check off several items from the first list. Personnel my family and I were able to do several of the items and we had a blast. I honestly forgot how much fun it could be just hanging out and completing fun things as a family. Here is the latest list, remember to have fun and make 2017 the year of the family.
Cut this list out and hang it up on the refrigerator, garage, or calendar. Then check off the items you do as a family throughout the year. See if you can do all these items (and last months) before the next list comes out. Remember when you hear “I’m Bored” or “There’s nothing to do“, take out this list out and spend time as a family.
____ 14. Obstacle course. Set up an obstacle
course in your backyard. Using things like hula hoops and jump ropes, create an outdoor obstacle course in which you can compete with each other for best time. This is not only a fun activity but also a great way to provide exercise for the whole family.
____ 15. Zoo. Visit the zoo and have each person write down which animal they liked best and what he learned about that animal.
____ 16. Family photos. Get out the camera and have some fun taking photos of each other. Be silly, be serious and have fun.
____ 17. Sock puppets. Make sock puppets by gather some old socks, decorate them and then use them to put on a show.
____ 18. Photo album. Make a family photo album with any photos that are printed or have the kids pick photos from a recent vacation, family gathering or other event and print them out. Together, place the photos in a scrapbook with each member adding a funny saying or description to the photo they like best.
____ 19. Family game show. Set up a stage and give each family member a part as the host, contestant, etc. Use trivia games, word games or whatever you enjoy playing as part of the game show. Play for points or fake money.
____ 20. Make a board game. Create your own family board game by drawing up a board on a piece of cardboard, make up rules and find interesting things around the house to use for game pieces.
____ 21. Turn trash into treasure. Use boxes, tubes or magazines to create a airplane, train, house, car or city.
____ 22. Root for the home team. Check out a local amateur sporting event, after you make a few homemade crafts to gear up for the big game.
____ 23. Puzzle. Carve out some time for family puzzling. Bonus points for making a cookie puzzle that is good enough to eat.
____ 24. Play in a box. Little kids especially will love reinventing an everyday cardboard box as a fort, playhouse or full-on cardboard city.
____ 25. Card game. Introduce your kids to new card games and make things interesting by offering up "no chores" as the big prize.
See you at the next Board Meeting,Neftali OrtizPresident, Heritage HOA / PID 7817-657-3365

Last month, about 230 Red Cross blood drives were canceled in 23 states, resulting nearly 7,500 uncollected blood and
platelet donations. With seasonal flu epidemics and inclement weather still affecting much of the country, the Red Cross needs healthy, eligible donors to make an appointment to
give blood or platelets in the coming days and weeks to help maintain a sufficient supply.

That price includes the design!!Summer is right around the corner which means the pools are almost open. Now is the perfect time to ask: Do I have everything I need for a relaxing day at the Heritage pools? Below is a checklist to make sure you’re pool ready.
1. Amenities Cards: Make sure your Amenities Cards aren’t expired. If it is, come into the Clubhouse to renew it before the summer. While it doesn’t take long to renew the cards themselves, sometimes we do get busy so avoid the lines by coming in early. Everyone in your household will need an Amenities Card to get into the pool area. Yes, even if they’re babies and even if they’re not swimming. This helps us keep an accurate record of who is in the pool area. Renewals and new Amenities Cards are $10.00 apiece. If you lost your card before its expiration date there is a replacement fee of $20.
2. Guest Passes: Pools are so much more fun to enjoy with family and friends, which is why we have Guest Passes for non-Heritage residents for sale in the Clubhouse. Each household can have up to 6 guests per day. Guest Passes are $5 apiece and each guest will need one to get into the pool area. The Guest Passes are a one-time use only, but they don’t expire so you can pick up as many as you want. We offer a bulk discount of 12 guest passes for $50. Well worth saving the $10 if you purchase them frequently.
3. Neoprene Diaper Covers: If your little one isn’t potty trained we do require they wear a swim diaper and a Neoprene Cover over that Swim Diaper. This is to prevent unnecessary closures of the pool due to contaminations. It is your duty as a Resident to inform your guests with children of this rule as well. Neoprene Diaper Covers can be purchased at other retailers, but we also sell them here in the Clubhouse for $15.
SUMMER LIST
If you are thinking about making any improvements or changes to the exterior of your home, pre-approval must be obtained PRIOR to starting any exterior project. Whether it is installing a shed or patio cover, planting a tree, changing the paint color of the house, changing the front door, changing the fence, etc. don’t assume the project will be in compliance. Over the years, amendments to the DCE&R’s (Declaration of Covenants, Easements & Restrictions) have been made and certain criteria are different than what they were originally.
The Architectural Control Committee’s (ACC) mission is to ensure that the building of high quality homes in Heritage continues, to encourage and monitor external improvements to existing homes so that they meet all DCE&R’s and strive to maintain the value and appearance of the Heritage Community. Before you start your next project, please visit www.hertagelifehoa.com to obtain a copy of the Modification Request Application.
The ACC meets once a month to review applications. To ensure your project is not delayed, we recommend you submit your request 14 days prior to your planned start date. This will give our office, the committee and you (or your contractor) plenty of time to iron out any details that my need to be addressed in advance of your approval. We encourage you to contact the Compliance Liaison with any questions or concerns at [email protected] or call the HOA office at 817-741-1912.
Architectural Control Committee (ACC) FAQ’sQ: For what projects do I need to get written approval from the ACC?A: Sheds, sun rooms, porches, porch roofing, patio/driveway extensions, paving projects, stone and brick projects, pergolas, arbors, gazebos, green houses, playhouses (non-movable), pools, drainage, retaining walls, fences, roofs, roof vents, landscaping changes (see below), sport courts, basketball goals, exterior painting and staining, additions/modifications to the residence and most other non-temporary changes to a lot or residence.
Q: Do I need to get approval for my landscaping changes?
A: You do NOT need ACC approval:• If you are replanting/replacing undesired, damaged, or dead plants with like or similar plants of the same variety.• If you are updating/replacing seasonal plants.• If you are mulching, mowing, weeding, trimming or any other type of maintenance activity designed to keep your yard and landscaping in a healthy, neat, and attractive manner.
You need ACC approval:• If you are constructing new flower/landscape beds or planting in new locations.• If you are removing and not replacing plants.• If you are changing the size, shape or dimensions of your flower/landscape beds.• If you are installing borders on your flower/landscape beds.• If your changes would affect the irrigation or drainage on your lot or your neighbors’ lots.• If you are planting in easements or drainage swales.
Q: Do I need a permit from the City of Fort Worth if I already got written approval from the ACC?A: Building, encroachment and other permits from the city are often required in addition to approval from the ACC. Building and encroachment permits may be required for new construction, remodeling, repair and additions, roofs, encroachments, swimming pools, retaining walls, borders, arbors, pergolas, gazebos, sheds, and signs. The burden is on the owner to inquire whether a city permit is required.
Q: What do I need to submit to get written approval for my application?A: A completed Modification Request Form, a detailed description of your project, any plans, drawings, pictures, materials, dimensions, specifications necessary for the ACC to understand the scope of your project and a copy of your plot plan/improvement survey showing your lot, residence, easements, property lines and location of your proposed project.
Q: Who can I contact if I have questions?A: You can e-mail the Compliance Liaison at [email protected] or call the HOA office at 817-741-1912.
