Although there was a slight difference between the rows, those using d) & e) were perhaps slightly better. The second visit was on the 15 May 2014 – 4 months after planting - where a marked difference could be seen with the eye between d) & e), e) being bigger, and the rest of the rows. The 3 rd visit was on the 29 May 2014 when the measurement of the height and width of the trees were to start the next day and the field day was held on the 4 June 2014. The growth of e) was without doubt better than the nearest opposition d) to the naked eye. The results of the field day are as per the attached information and graph. A tree of each trial had been pulled and labelled. The roots of those trees that had Universal+ were longer and thicker by a good margin than any of the other test rows.

REPORT BACK OF UNIVERSAL+ ON EUCALYPTUS CLONES

Universal+ was used in a trial on 3 different Eucalyptus clones (GU 117, GU 083, GU 111) and which started on the 6 January 2014. There were 5 lines repeated throughout the trail compartment.

a) No extra planting hydrogel - None control row b) A row of fertiliser - Forestry c) A row of a hydrogel – Clear d) A row of a hydrogel with a probiotic product – Bio e) A row of a hydrogel and Universal+ - Mix/Clear (Universal +)

This compartment was nearly burnt of slash and situated in the Mpumalanga province in South Africa. The mix was 1.5g per tree. The first visit by myself to the site was on the 13 March 2014 – 2 months after planting. Although there was a slight difference between the rows, those using d) & e) were perhaps slightly better. The second visit was on the 15 May 2014 – 4 months after planting - where a marked difference could be seen with the eye between d) & e), e) being bigger, and the rest of the rows. The 3rd visit was on the 29 May 2014 when the measurement of the height and width of the trees were to start the next day and the field day was held on the 4 June 2014. The growth of e) was without doubt better than the nearest opposition d) to the naked eye. The results of the field day are as per the attached information and graph. I can state with confidence that Universal+ has within 6 months made a huge difference in the growth and expansion of the trees. This is of immediate cost benefit to the company as the trees will canopy earlier. It is quite possible that a second herbicide spray for weeds will not be required. The growth in these crucial months will not be lost in a ‘catch up’ scenario of the other tested products. Further trials by the same company are going to be done on doubling the rate of application, of halving the fertiliser used and not using any fertiliser at all. I have ongoing trials with Universal+ and Ergofit Seedling at nursery level. Verbally I have been told that the root mass with Ergofit Seedling is better than the control group, but am awaiting a written confirmation.
