NAIDOC Week

We will be celebrating NAIDOC week in Week 9 of this term. Students will participate in round robin activities on Monday 25th June, this day will also be an Out of Uniform day. Students can wear red, black and yellow or blue, white and black to represent the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. Students will be tasting some delicious native animals as part of our cultural celebrations.

Gymnastics

Infant students have been participating in Gymnastics lessons for the last couple of weeks and are loving it. We have learnt how to bear walk, forward role and the difference between a jumping jack and a star jump. Students are looking forward to the last couple of week of Gymnastics and are excited to see what else they will learn.

Rugby League

The Knights Knockout is now scheduled for Friday 22nd of June (Week 8). The venue has also changed and It will now be held at Hunter Barnett Fields, Windale. Rugby League Coordinator

PSSA Netball

On Friday 8th June the PSSA Netball team travelled to Thornton Public School to play their Round 3 game. We arrived at Thornton Public School looking fabulous in our new netball dresses which were kindly donated by Kylie Jackson and Beresfield Netball Club thank you so much.

From the start it was a very fast paced game and the ball didn’t last down one end for very long. The crowd of Thornton students were very loud and at times overwhelming. Unfortunately for Beresfield, Thornton came away with the win 37-8. The score, however does not represent how amazing the girls played. Each one of the 10 girls showed determination, persistence, resilience and they fought for the ball until the end whistle blew. Watching the game on Friday concreted how much each girl has grown individually and as a team. I am so proud of the girls and the team work they displayed each game during our PSSA journey. Well done girls.

Netball Coach

AEDC Information for Parents of Kindergarten Students

Between July and August this year, our school will be taking part in the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC), which is a nationwide census of early childhood development and helps our school and community understand how children are developing before they start school, what is being done well, and what can be improved. The AEDC is an Australian Government initiative run by the federal Department of Education and Training. Only Kindergarten students are affected by this census. In Week 8 of this term, parents of Kindergarten students will receive letter outlining the process in detail.

Kindergarten students do not need to do anything to be included in the census and will attend class as usual. During the census, Kindergarten teachers record information (including children’s names and dates of birth) based on their knowledge and observations of each child in their class. The questions to be used by the AEDC in the upcoming collection are available at www.aedc.gov.au/instrument.

The AEDC is voluntary and is not a school test, so should you wish for your Kindergarten child’s information to be excluded from the census, please contact Mikaela Vermeulen (Assistant Principal K-2) by Friday 6th July (Week 10, Term 2).

Thank you for supporting the AEDC,

Mikaela Vermeulen

Assistant Principal K-2
