Less than two months to go until the start of our July 2014 term! Are you ready? As we

approach the start of our July term I hope you’ll find the information in this newsletter helpful as you prepare for your first day of class.

In the June Newsletter we’ll start to introduce you to some of the professors you’ll have an op-portunity to interact with as you move through your degree program. In addition, we’ll start to talk about administrative requirements such as the English Placement exam, course registra-tion, billing and textbooks.

Perhaps the most exciting news we have to share with you this month is the announcement of a new partnership with the ERC Institute. IEEC, our current Private Education Provider (PEI) has merged with ERC which not only enables us to further expand the Embry-Rid-dle network throughout Asia, but of signifi-

cant interest to our students, it opens the door to brand new classroom facilities in a vibrant and exciting educational district in Singapore. Learn more about our new classroom and stu-dent life facilities on pages 4&5.

Everyone at Embry-Riddle Asia is working hard to prepare for your arrival in July and we look forward to sharing details of our 2014 Ori-entation with you next month.

Regards,

MATTHEW FLAHERTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ENROLLMENT & CAMPUS OPERATIONS

ERC INSTITUTE PARTNERSHIP As noted on page 2, Embry-Riddle Asia is extremely excited to announce the merger of IEEC and ERC Institute. Embry-Riddle Asia is growing very fast. We will be doubling our student numbers again in July. Like any growing University, space and facilities for students is very important. When we started teaching our full-time program last year the space in the Boon Siew building was okay and met our requirements for year one, but we need more space and student life facilities. ERC Institute is able to provide that much needed space and is a welcome new partner by our students and faculty.

On 17th April 2014, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) held a special “Inspiring Aviators – Women in Aviation” dialogue session at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College Central. The dialogue session featured successful female professionals from the aviation industry.Ms.GohHwaiKar,VicePresidentofHumanResourceofChangiAirportGroupwasfirsttospeak,followedbyMs.ValerieSim,anAirTrafficControl(ATC)Manag-er(ANSSafetyandSecurity),Ms.KristenToh,aFirstOfficerfromSilkAir,Ms.KhamJoonWui,theVice President of the Engineering and Development Center at ST

Aerospace, andlastly,Ms.LimHeeJoo,theExecutiveDirectorofWah Son Engineering Pte Ltd.The distinguished guests spoke about Changi Airport and its future developments, what it was like to be an ATC, what it was like being one of the few females in a male dominated industry, aircraft maintenance and also about the new products entering the avia-tion industry. After all the distinguished guests had talked about their experiences in the aviation industry, they had a Q&A session, which was hosted by our very own BS in Aeronautics student Sallihin. The distinguished guests described some of the qualities they felt attributed to

their success, namely, confidence, attitude, hard work, passion, and believing in what you do. In addition, they also revealed how they managed their stress levels during work, and what they did to unwind and relax! At the end of the dialogue session, the audience got to meet and speak with the five women about their experiences and ask further questions over light refreshments. Overall, it was an excellent session and everyone had an eye opening experience, and walked away with a new mindset that just because you are a female, it doesn’t mean that you cannot succeed in a male dominated industry such as the aviation industry!
