Lately we have ta-
ken part in an Erasmus
Plus assembly. Our
school mates visited
a small town Merignac
near Bordeaux in Fran-
ce. I was delighted to li-
sten their stories and
how warmly they were
hosted by the French fa-
milies. The biggest dunes
in Europe (Dune du Py-
la) impressed them the
most! It was even more
interesting to us because
in June me and other
three students from my
school will set off to Ro-
me.
This year is espe-
cially important for us
Poles. We are celebrating
the 100th anniversary of
Poland’s gaining inde-
pendence. We were sin-
ging patriotic songs and
the Polish Anthem too,
we danced folk dances,
recited poems and all of
these has really moved
us. Our mother land is
our heritage.
In Fe-
bruary there was a fan-
cy dress party. With
pleasure we were mo-
ving our bodies while
rhythms of the DJ’s
hits. Some of the stu-
dents decided to wear
a disguise. We spotted
two teddy bears swin-
ging in the crowd.
As I mentioned
before there are only
some of the updates!
I encourage everyone
The Telethon is an
event that is used to
raise money to cure ge-
netic diseases.
Friday afternoon, the
14th of December, the
Bourran's Primary
School (17 classrooms,
440 students) did
a sportive activity for
the Telethon in Jard's
stadium.
Let's go, we run dur-
ing 20 minutes. After,
an afternoon snack
was offered to stu-
dents.
Each child had a spon-
sor who gives 1 euro
per lap.
The school has collect-
ed 1800 euros! It was
delicious and friendly!
Interview with Clotilde.
1. Is not the race too
hard?
No, I did 4 laps.
2. Is it very important for
you the Telethon?
Yes
3. Why?
An example: There are children of the
moon who can not see the sun, they can
not go out and go to school.
With money doctors can hope to cure them.

Mr Theodoros Papaioannou
is a writer. He came to our
school and he presented his bo-
ok a few days ago. The title of
his book is “Silouani”. But how
did he write this book? He had
a student, her name was Siloua-
ni. Silouani gave him a letter on
her last day at primary school.
He read the letter many times
and he decided to write a book
to answer children’s questions.
The book was published in
2017. It has 228 pages and it is
for children 9 years old, and
older. In the book, there are two
children: Kostis and Diamantia.
The children do not want to go
to the mountain for holidays.
They think it is something bo-
ring. But there they meet Si-
louani who lives there. She
shows them the beautiful mo-
untain and the village and they
change their mind. They have
a wonderful adventure together.
The book is about happiness,
friendship and exploration.
Mr Papaioannou wrote 12
books for children and for ad-
ults. “Silouani” is his favourite
book.

In May 2108 the school
organized a Charity Lucky Dip
in which pupils’ old toys and
things are won by other stu-
dents; every student extracted a
small piece of paper with a
number written on it, this num-
ber was related to a toy or an
object. All the objects and toys
had to be in very good condi-
tions.
Last year two important soli-
darity projects took place in our
school.
On the 4 of December in our
school took place a solidarity
project named “ rigiocattolo”
that means giving a new life to
old toys. On that day, old stu-
dents’ toys were collected at
school and sold to other stu-
dents, teachers and parents who
wanted could give their contri-
bute. The money collected has
been used
to buy and

This project was fun for chil-
dren like us but the most im-
portant thing is that the money
collected supported “ Progetto

wells in Africa! Wells have al-
ready been dug in Malawi, Ca-

On 7th August 2018 in
Glasgow something wonderful
happened: in 15 minutes 61 se-
conds and 51 hundredth of se-
conds the new Italian swim-
ming legend, Simona Quadarel-
la, won the golden medal in
1500m in free style. The next
days she won the 800 m free sty-
le and she even won the 400m
free style. That was amazing!!!
We’re proud of her, also because
she is an ex student in our
school.
Simona was born in Rome on
18th December 1998. She lives
in our suburb in Ottavia, in the
north-west of Rome and she at-
tended our school from 2004 to
2012. At the age of 8 she joined
the agonistic swimming team.
She is the first Italian swimmer
to have won a golden medal in
800m at the Olympic games for
young people at Nanjing in Chi-
na in 2014.
Simona is specialised in free
style, she won a golden medal in
1500m in the World Young
Championship in Singapore. But
the best results were in 2018
whe she won 3 golden medals in
400m, 800m and 1500m in
Glasgow for the European
Championship.
These players always win tennis
games for about 15 years. Stefa-
nos Tsitsipas is ready to do that,
too.
A star is born, Stephanos
Tsitsipas. This is the most im-
portant thing in his life. Everyo-
ne admires his victory. The Ca-
nadian organizers of the tennis
tournament asked Tsitsipas
how he felt about his victory.
Tsitsipas said: "I felt like I had
to do it because my country has
been through difficult times in
recent weeks and people have
died. One of my friends is in the
hospital. That was the least I
could do".
Tsitsipas is the new star of
tennis. He will become a very
big tennis player.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is a famo-
us Greek tennis player. He
achieved the biggest victory in
Djokovic's dominating career.
Stephanos Tsitsipas appears
well on the tennis superstar.
Tennis fans wait patiently for
his appearance. He is a strong
player and he will come out of
the shadows of the four big ten-
nis players in the world: Roger
Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak
Djokovic and Anne March.
We also like playing tennis
because of him.

Tuesday, January 29th, seve-
ral classes met each other at the
Bordeaux's velodrome for an
athletics challenge.
During this sports meeting,
we participated in several track
and field events. To begin, we
launched the javelin. We had to
launch it as far as possible.
Then we had to throw a weigh-
ted ball.
The third track and field
event was the multi-leap and
the fourth the hurdles race. To
finish, we participated in a re-
lay race. We are happy to have
been to the velodrome!
It would be fantastic if you ca-
me to school one day to partici-
pate in an athletic challenge!

In our country people like
watching and doing a lot of va-
rious sports. Many people at
different ages love ski jumping
which is believed to be the most
famous and popular winter
sport in Poland. It is loved by
children, teenagers as well as
adults.
There are a lot of ski jumpers in
Poland. The best one was Adam
Małysz. When he stopped jum-
ping, some new champions
appeared. They are: Kamil
that ski jumpers could not jump.
After some fantastic tries, Polish
competitors won the first and
the second prize. Dawid Kubacki
got gold and Kamil Stoch silver.
The Polish are proud of
their sportsmen. A lot of people
see them live, there are also
such spectators for whom ski
jumpers are idols who inspire
them to take up ski jumping.

On Friday 19 March our
school went to the theater. The
name of the theater is Olym-
pion. It is in Thessaloniki. We
saw the story “Arabian Nights”.
Shahrazad tells the story. There
are three episodes. In the story
there are fantastic things, fai-
ries, lanterns, and big palaces.
In the first episode Sinbad the
Sailor is on an island because
his ship sank. He must tell a
story to save his life.
In the second episode Ali Baba
is a lazy boy. He wants to go in
the cave of the forty thieves. He
says “open sesame” and he goes
inside. He takes money from
the thieves and he takes them to
his home.
In the third episode Aladdin is
a boy and he loves Jasmine.
He wants to marry her. He
finds the magic lantern. There
is a Jini in the lantern and the
Jini helps him. He has many
adventures. At the end he
marries Jasmine.
We liked the story very much.
It says that we must take care
of our family and friends. The
children love this story.

Hello readers!
This time Angelika and Lenka
will introduce you to the world of
Polish culture. Is it possible to
meet anyone who does not read
books at all? I think, no. Let’s
look into something classic – our
noble poet Adam Mickiewicz.
His famous works such as:
„Dziady”, „Pan Tadeusz”, „Oda
do Młodo-
ści”
should be
read by
everyone.
Why don’t we talk a bit about
Polish cinema? We are proud of
the Polish cinematography. So-
me Polish directors are known
worldwide, especially Andrzej
Wajda, Roman Polański and
Krzysztof Kieslowski. As every-
body knows the most important
film
award
is the
Oscar.
The
first
Polish
film,
nomi-
nated for this film award was
“Nóż w wodzie” directed by Ro-
man Polański.
Time for music! Polish mu-
sic has been constantly develo-
ping and becoming more and
more popular not only in Poland
but also on international charts.
There are a lot of young singers
like Margaret or Michał Szpak
who achieved a success in Euro-
vision song contest and even in
the USA .
