Race season is upon us

and it is important that we

remember the Thor-

oughbreds when their rac-

ing career is over.

After the Finish Line is a Na-

tionally recognized 501(C)(3)

funding non-profit for Thor-

oughbred racehorses that

are transitioned off the racetrack into a second career. The

donations they receive will help support Thoroughbreds at

rescue organizations across the United States while they

await adoption. They are committed to the welfare of these

horses. They exist to honor and respect the Thoroughbreds

and ensure they have a quality of life when they are done

racing. They believe in their program.

Their mission is to educate the public about the health, pro-

tection, preservation and alternative career options of Thor-

oughbreds when their racing or breeding careers are

over. To provide a quality of life for Thoroughbred horses by

funding rescue and retirement organizations to help support

the current Thoroughbreds in their care. To save additional

Thoroughbreds from slaughter and neglect by contributing

funds to the rescue and retirement organization's efforts to

purchase, care for, rehabilitate and retrain horses for a non-

racing career.

They are concerned, committed and respected individuals

who will provide funding and grants to qualified Thor-

oughbred rescue organizations. These funds will help sup-

port the Thoroughbreds in their care that can no longer race

or breed. They are founded on the belief that these horses

have the right to live a fulfilling life when their racing careers

are over. These talented Thoroughbreds can transition into

an array of second careers given the opportunity. They feel

honored to be involved in this national rescue effort.

They will unite with equine leaders at all levels to build part-

nerships to assist these noble animals. They exist to promote

and implement solutions and programs for Thoroughbreds

that can no longer race or produce. The Thoroughbred rac-

ing industry is supported by the horses. Now it's our turn to

help support them. The end of their racing careers should not

signal the end of their lives. In reality, it is a new beginning

for them.

Numerous Thoroughbreds need assistance everyday. A dig-

nified existence for retired racehorses and broodmares

needs to be the norm and not the exception. There is no

limit to their potential and desire to succeed off the racetrack.

We can empower these horses by giving them the opportu-

nity to awaken their spirit. Our treatment of these animals will

empower all of us to be better people for our act of kindness.

It is a privilege to be associated with these magnificent Thor-

oughbreds. They are celebrities that draw fans to racetracks
