HATE CRIME

Hate crime is any crime that is motivated by prejudice, discrimination or hatred towards the protected groups. A person that commits a crime that is proved to be a hate crime will receive a tougher sentence than the same crime not motivated by prejudice.

Greater Manchester Police have begun recording crime against alternative subcultures as hate crime. Subculture includes goths, emos, punks, or any group that is easily identified by the way they look or dress.
