Swimming Program The School swimming program has been offered to students between Grades 1 to 6. Parents, please return “expression of interest” notes ASAP to secure a spot for your child. Limited spaces available. This program will be conducted from the 8th September to the 17th September, 2015 inclusive.

2013 Parent Opinion Survey

Please remember to return your Survey by Tuesday 31st July , if you received one. Many parents have already returned their Sur-vey and we thank them very much. A random draw will be held for all the parents who returned their surveys and a special gift will be given from the Principal.

Parents and friends are holding a P lunch on Monday 17th August. Order forms are enclosed within this newsletter. This lunch will consist of 1 hot dog, a fruit drink and a special treat at a cost of $5.00. Order forms and money must be returned to school by Thursday 6th August in the Morning only/am. Hi my name is Ahmed and this is my 3D Monster. I made it in Visual Arts with Mrs Contessa. We were learning about 3D shapes and objects. First we did a sketch of our Monster we wanted to make and them I made it. I used plasticine for the body, matchsticks, goggle eyes, beads, pipecleaners and feathers. His name is “Hawks”.

MHPS ANNUAL WRITING COMPETITION

Late term 2 saw all students from MHPS participate in our annual writing

competition. Students worked on writing pieces in their classrooms, and a student who showed

both effort and excellence was chosen as a prize winner from each home group. Congratulations to all students for

Our names are Deniz, Savana and

Natalie. We are here to talk to you

about the issue of orangutans and

palm oil. Sumatran and Bornean

orangutans are dying because of

palm oil plantations being

planted in their habitat. They com-

pletely destroy it. Palm oil is a

good oil which contains Vitamins A

& E and grows 9 times faster than

any other vegetable oil.

Unsustainable Palm oil is in 80% of products that we use

everyday. By using sustainable Palm oil which is grown in

vacant land we will help not only the environment but the

orangutans home. We wrote letters to companies which

either use 100% sustainable Palm oil, or have made prom-

ises to use sustainable Palm oil or don’t use it at all. We

wrote to Arnott’s, Thomas Chipman and Unilever. We all

received replies. We congratulated them all for using

100% sustainable Palm oil but asked them to clearly label

that on the packaging . In the letter to Unilever we asked if

they have kept their promise to use 100% sustainable Palm

oil in the future. We hope that you shop wisely to buy

products that use sustainable Palm oil and ask companies

as well .
