  • THREE PHASE MEDIUM VOLTAGE SLIPRING MOTORS Destination

The motors described in this booklet, 1st chapter, are meant to drive equipment with standard conditions of starting and running; some of the motors in B and C chapters are intended for industrial drives: tube mills, crushers, blowers, rotary calciner kilns, compressors, pumps, fans, conveyer belts and other equipment with similar features. They can operate indoor or outdoor, in the following conditions: temperate or tropical climate, dusty environment, free of chemical, corrosive or inflammable agents.

The manufacturing program and the range it can be extended are shown below.

Designation An individual motor designation consists of groups of capital letters and numbers, which are marked on the motor nameplate. Their significances are the following:

    a) horizontal motors number height of rotating axis (H quota - mm) letter frame length number shaft end diameter number number of poles Designation example: MIP X 355X 90-4

    b) vertical motors V vertical construction number axial external thrust (tf) letter frame length number shaft end diameter F, FF, FD flange symbol (IEC 72-1,2) number circle diameter on which are placed

the hole centers in the flange number number of poles Designation example: MIP V 12Y 120F 1180-6

  • Constructive Characteristics

The motors have slip-ring rotor with permanently applied brushes.

The windings are achieved in insulation system Class F and H, vacuum and pressure impregnated (VPI process).

The bearings are equipped with rolling bearings and provided with lubricators and grease quantity regulators.

The protection degree of the motors is IP 54, IPW 54, IP 55 or IP 44.

The motors cannot take over axial or radial loads from the driven equipment, excepting the vertical motors, specially built to support the requested thrust.

The constructive form of the motors is IMB 3, respectively IMB 20 (for MIP-A type motors) and IMV 1 for the vertical motors.

The motors are designed for direct coupling with the driven equipment by means of flexible coupling.

Slip-ring motors start-up by means of a starting rheostat connected in the rotor circuit.

bearings, and also with space heaters meant to prevent moisture accumulation.

The motors are self-ventilated in closed circuit by means of air-to-water or air-to-air heat exchangers. The motors in chapter A, frame size H355, 11400, 11450 are bilaterally ventilated, both directions of rotation; those with frame size H500, 11560 are bilaterally ventilated, single direction of rotation. The customer will specify the requested direction of rotation.

    MIP, 315 kW, 600 r.p.m., 6600 V

    MIP X, 1250 kW, 1000 r.p.m., 6000 V

    MIP A, 3200 kW, 1500 r.p.m., 10.000 V

  • Technical Characteristics. Performances

The motors meet the general technical conditions in IEC 34-1 standards. They are designed to run in continuous duty, type S1.

Noise and vibration levels are in accordance with IEC 34-9, respectively IEC 34-14 standards.

The maximum safety in working is ensured as a result of the following solutions: - vacuum and pressure impregnation (VPL) of the windings - working life of bearings is mm. 50,000 working hours, calculated according to SKF method - special system of brush holders (constant pressure springs) - windings and bearings heating monitoring by means of platinum RTD-s (on request) - prevention of the moisture condensation during the still stand, by means of space heaters.

    Further Remarks

On customer request ELECTROPUTERE - MER Division can manufacture motors with various other supply voltages, frequencies, powers and speeds.

On request we can deliver motors provided with the following accessories: - current transformer for differential protection - brush lifting and short-circuiting device automatically and/or manually operated. ELECTROPUTERE - MER Division can also deliver motors which comply with the following conditions: - stator winding temperature rise according to Class B limits

    - dielectric loss factor, tan , according to VDE 0530 - lower noise and/or vibration levels - outline and mounting dimensions required by customer.

ELECTROPUTERE - MER Division reserves itself the right to improve the construction and performances of the motors without previous notification of the customer.

This booklet cannot be used for the motors ordering; for more details the supplier must be contacted.

In the purchase order, the customer must specify the following, at least: - rated power [kW] - rated voltage [V] & frequency [Hz] - speed & rotation direction [rpm] - protection degree - type of construction (horizontal/vertical) - driven equipment and its moment of inertia

    - other significant information (if exists) regarding the motor working and environmental conditions.
