Basics of X-Rays

• X-ray production whenever electrons of high energy strike a heavy metal target (tungsten).

• X-ray machines are used in health care for visualising bone structures.

• Assisting cardiologists in locating blocked arteries.

• Dense tissues such as tumours

• Non-medicinal applications include security and material analysis.

Page 4: epsilon report

Working of X-Ray Machine There are three main parts of an x-ray machine.

• X-Ray tube -Creation of x-rays.

• High voltage power source – For anode and cathode.

• The console operator – On and Off the machine.

Working. Inside of the x-ray tube is a filament or a cathode emitter.

Accelerated electrons move to the metal anode.

This beam hits a focal point within the anode.

A small amount of this beam is turned into x-ray photons.Console operator determines the right current and voltage to create an x-ray beam.

This x-ray beam is then aimed at a target.

LED Illuminators• Introduction• View box is a device made of lights placed behind a

translucent screen

• Provide backlighting for a radiographic image

• Helps clinicians see the brightness, contrast, and details of an image.

• Room illumination must be arranged so that there are no reflections from the surface of the film under examination.

• X-Ray Film Viewer is more brighter, uniform and softer.
