FOCUS GROUPS I have mentioned in the previous two newsletters that I would be running two parent focus groups, to ascertain feedback about our school and its organisation. These sessions will run for about thirty minutes. The first session will be tomorrow evening in the yr. 6 rooms commencing at 6pm. This will be immediately followed by the AGM of the P&C. The second session will follow on Friday, commencing at 10am in the EBASCA room and will follow the monthly morning tea I have with parents. The sessions will be identical and there is no need to attend both.

ROAD SAFETY Once again I am on my bandwagon about practices by our parents that are putting the safety of our students at risk. Last week I spoke to a number of parents who parked in the bus zone around home time. Not only is this a dangerous practice as it stops our school bus from parking but it is also a very selfish act. The majority of our parents obey the rules even if it does mean parking a distance from the school, yet we still have one or two parents who feel that they are above the law. Secondly I saw a mother crossing the busy street outside our school, with her daughter four or five metres behind. There was lots of traffic around. Not only is this putting the child at risk but it also is setting an irresponsible example for our students. Walk down to the crossing.

LEAVING OR RETURNING LATE IN 2013 As we move into November the school has to begin its organisation for 2013. Much of this is dependent upon our student numbers. I am asking anyone who will not be attending Epping in 2013 (this does not include our current Year 6 students), or who will be returning after the official start date of Wednesday 30 January 2013 to please complete the form in this newsletter and return it to the school office.

STAR PERFORMANCE Last Friday I was privileged to see our Stage 3 vocal ensemble perform at the Epping Fair. They gave a great show and even in their final number when the PA system stopped they carried on like troupers to deliver a wonderful performance. Well done to the group and their coach Ms McKenzie. The vocal ensemble was followed by a musical performance from three of our other students, Shirene, Amie and Charlotte. They also entertained the audience with a quality show. Well done for flying the Epping Public School flag.

To ensure we have another successful event, we will also need many parent helpers on the night. If you can help, please provide your details on the Order Form. If you are interested, please contact us: Marissa 0408 088 449, [email protected] Jacqui: 0409 325 424, [email protected] Band News Band Dates for Term 4 2012 Week 9 Friday 7 Dec – Presentation Day – all instruments to be handed in for maintenance. When you receive your letter, please respond promptly, so planning for next year can continue. Any questions please contact me [email protected] P&C Office Bearers Needed! The P&C still has a number of vacant office bearer positions. New P&C office bearers will be elected at the P&C AGM this Tuesday November 13th at 6:30pm. Office bearers are critical to the success of the P&C, which in turn works hand-in-hand with the school to deliver better resources and services for your children. Office bearers do not do the ‘heavy lifting’ themselves; they

coordinate and lead the many helpers who pitch in to get the job done. If these positions are not filled the P&C will need to discontinue services and activities in 2013. Please consider nominating for an office bearer role on Tuesday night. If you are thinking of nominating for president and would like more information on the role, please feel free to contact me on 0413 884 251. Josh Pitcher, President.
