I hope for our new students that their first day was a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Last Friday appeared to go smoothly and I would like to thank our parents and staff for their part in ensuring this happened. A special thank you to Mrs Semler who co-ordinated the first day organisation. STAFFING UPDATE In the last few school days of 2020 we saw two of our teachers take up appointments elsewhere. The first was Mr Streatfeild, who has for a while wanted to experience teaching in the country and has accepted a Temporary Position at Nyngan Public School. I would like to thank him for his work at Epping PS where for the last two years he has taught Kindergarten. I know those students who had the opportunity to be in Mr Streatfeild’s class were given a wonderful and positive start to their educational journey. Mr Streatfeild also contributed to many areas of the school including the organisation of the Leisure Sports Program and the Cross Country Carnival. We wish him all the best in his new endeavour. Secondly, Miss Kerr was offered a position in School Services in the areas of Literacy & Numeracy. At this point it is a one term appointment and she will return to Epping PS for Term 2. This is a promotion and offers Miss Kerr a unique opportunity. We have two new permanent classroom teachers appointed to our school. They are Miss Ellis and Miss Fernando. We welcome them to Epping Public School as they begin their teaching journey. Miss Kalliope and Miss Bramwell are new faces to our school and have been appointed to temporary positions to the support staff team. Finally, I would like to congratulate Miss Hawkins and Miss Crandell who were appointed to permanent positions with the Department at the end of last year. CLASSES FOR 2021 UPDATE I noted in last Friday’s email that children were placed into classes but until our final numbers are clear we cannot confirm classes. At this point in time, we have formed 29 classes including 6 new kindergarten classes. New enrolments continue to arrive and we still have number of children who did not return on Friday. There is a possibility that we may grow to 30 classes. If this does happen we will need to adjust classes and some students will have to change class. I hope to finalise everything over the next few days. I will include our final list of classes and teachers in next week’s newsletter.

Last Friday appeared to go smoothly and I would like to thank our parents and staff for their part in ensuring this happened. A special thank you to Mrs Semler who co-ordinated the first day organisation.

Please support the organisers of the carnival by completing the form as soon as possible. It will only take 5-10 minutes to complete.

COVID GUIDELINES Unfortunately, COVID is still in our lives and restrictions around school and adults remain similar to those at the end of last year. Here is a summary of the guidelines. We ask that you adhere to them. A link to the whole document is located below the summary.

Parents are still not permitted on school grounds except in the following circumstances - to make purchases from the Uniform Shop - collect children at pick up time (please see the following section for details) - to work in the canteen For any other reason parents must come to the office.

Each school has been issued with a government QR Code. These will be located at the school office and must be used when you enter the school. They work exactly like the QR codes in many shops restaurant and clubs throughout the state. This information will be collected by the NSW Govt and kept for 28 days. Visitors must also continue to complete the external visitors form and sign into the school register as well.

Do not send child your child to school if they are unwell. If they display any flu like symptoms they must be Covid tested and not return until a negative result is received.

No adult is to come onto school grounds if they are feeling unwell, this includes picking up their child at home time. In these cases, you need to organise someone else to pick up your child. If you are unable to organise someone please contact the school office.

Make sure you send a water bottle to school with your child.

Volunteers Needed!!

Our canteen is managed by the school P&C and staffed entirely by VOLUNTEERS from the school community - parents and grandparents. Net proceeds from canteen goes towards supporting the school with purchasing educational resources, offsetting the cost of some school activities and contributing to a better school environment for our children.

** We still need more volunteers to support the canteen in 2021 **

If you can help out, please email [email protected] or complete a canteen volunteer form at the school office. No experience is needed, it’s a great way to meet other school parents, and your children will love to see you being involved at school. A canteen roster for Term 1 will be sent to our current team of volunteers this week. Thank you! EPS Canteen Committee
