PRESIDENT’S REPORT
SEASON 2010 - 2011
Congratulations to everyone
Congratulations to all Players, Coaches, Managers, Scorers and Umpires who have helped to ensure that Epping District Cricket Club - Juniors has had another successful season of cricket during 2010/11. Many players have commenced their cricketing careers in the U9 and U10 age groups, and others have consolidated on previous seasons of playing cricket. We have also had a strong In2Cricket (MILO Have-A-Game and Have-A-Go Cricket) programme for the 5-8 year olds running at Epping Oval. Committee and Helpers
Our Committee this season has comprised:
President -
Vice-President Rob Casey
Secretary -
Treasurer Peter Dwyer
Registrar Leanne Dries
Equipment Officer Rob Casey
Webmaster Richard Evans
Stumpings Editor -
Shirts Sue Cale
Trophies Sue Cale
In2Cricket Have-a-Go Greg Friend/Gerrard Meares
In2Cricket Have-a-Game Darren Deigan
Annual Report Rob Casey
Thankyou to all those on the Committee along with our Managers, Coaches, Scorers, and Umpires who have all made a very worthwhile contribution again this season. They are the ones who make the games happen every week and we all owe them a debt of gratitude. You will note that we have not officially had a President this season. This situation cannot be repeated next season, as it is important for the ongoing viability of the Club that a President is selected to provide leadership and to ensure that everything necessary for a successful season is well planned and implemented. Parents of players in the U10/U11/U12 age groups are at a stage where they have been involved for a few seasons and should be in a position to fill Committee positions in the same way that parents who have gone before them have.
4
It is imperative that a nomination for President is made over the coming weeks to ensure that this position is filled before preparations for the 2011/12 season commence. I encourage everyone to take note of this seriously, and consider how they might be able to be involved in supporting their children’s cricket in future seasons. I hope you all enjoyed the 2010/11 cricket season at Epping District Cricket Club – Juniors and will be involved next season. Rob Casey Vice-President Epping District Cricket Club – Juniors March 2011

Senior Cricketer of the Year
Chris Steffan
In previous years a lack of concentration and poor shot selection resulted in
Chris scoring far fewer runs than he should have. This season he showed tremendous application and consequently he had very good year with the bat scoring 322 runs including 2 fifties at 26.83.
Chris also took 7 wickets and showed a safe pair of hands taking 7 catches in the field.
While competitive by nature, he is also aware of playing the game in the right spirit which makes him a deserving winner of this award.
Congratulations and well done, Chris!
Intermediate Cricketer of the Year Jared Dries
Jared is a worthy recipient of the Intermediate Cricketer Award. His statistics speak for themselves. . . .
6th Best Bowling in the competition. Jared took a total of 18 wickets with an economy rate of 2.12. His best figures were 4/14.
11th Best Batting in the competition. From 12 innings Jared scored 201 runs at an average of 18.27. His highest score was 35.
As you can see from the figures above Jared is a very good all-round cricketer. He has a sound technique as a batsman with a good array of
strokes and is capable of timing the ball well. He bowls accurately often frustrating batsmen and has the ability to beat the bat or get an edge. He captained the U’13 side through the season and exhibited clear leadership
skills and a good ‘cricket brain’. Jared is enthusiastic in the field always giving 100%. Jared is to be congratulated on his fine performance throughout the
2010/11 season.
Junior Cricketer of the Year
Joshua Stern
Joshua’s statistics tell part of the story about this talented cricketer who is very deserving of the highest award for a junior cricketer at our club. Joshua leads the clubs batting statistic’s (547 runs, 497 at club level and 67 in the
Weetbix 20/20) with an average of 60.8 runs per innings and catching statistics (15 catches) plus run outs (3 direct and 3 assists). In addition to
this Joshua has shown very good leadership skills as the team’s captain. The choice of bowlers, fielding positions and batting orders has been very positive
throughout the year accounting for much of the success we have experienced. The Highlights were the 137 partnership with Jack Parkinson and in the same game scoring 151 not out on a 42C day. Two slips catches
that were as good as you get in Under 12’s cricket and the positive way that Josh has encouraged and supported the team throughout the year. Well done
Josh keep the positive and competitive attitude.
7
Spirit of Cricket Award
Joshua Jenkins
If scoring lots of runs and taking lots of wickets were the main criteria for continuing to play cricket then many players would give up after a
season or two. Luckily there are those players who play for reasons other than success on the field, such as being part of a team, or
enjoying the friendship of those they play with. On such player is Josh Jenkins.
Josh has never been a star with the bat or ball, but he is the sort of player coaches like to have in their team as he always has a go and
gives his best.
Encouragement Award
Jack Parkinson
Jack is very deserving of the Encouragement Award for the club. The
combination of some excellent batting (369 runs) and bowling (21 wickets) plus his catching (9) run outs (3 direct 1 assist) and strong.
Jack was VC for the first part of the season and worked well with his good mate Joshua Stern. Highlights of Jack’s year would be the 137
run partnership with Josh, 95 not out and 3/4. Jack was also in the 20/20 squad and Wicket Kept, Bowled and fielded with great skill. Jack
is a class all round cricketer and I know he will do really well next year with his high energy and positive attitude.
8
Under 9 & 10 Coaches Award
Under 9 Red - Nick Gray
It was not a simple decision as to who should receive this award as
there were a number of kids who were equally as deserving of the award for various reasons. But in the end I felt that Nick was the
correct choice not only for his great batting and his fantastic bowling and fielding, but also for being a good team member. And not only did
he revel in his own accomplishments but also celebrated the achievements of his fellow team members. Nick is not only a very
fine cricketer but also a good team member and his presence in and
contribution to the team was invaluable.
Under 9 Green - Lachlan Maher
Lachlan joined the team without knowing anyone having not played
Milo last year with the others. Lachlan was always willing to listen and learn and gave his best every week. The smile on Lachlan’s face when
he got his first wicket was memorable and what the game is all about. Lachlan contributed greatly to the team and like all the other boys
improved considerably as the year went on.
Under 10 – Matthew Henning
Matthew always give 100% whether it be with the bat, ball or in the field. As a result he had a great season in all areas. Matthew scored
118 runs at an average of 23.6, took 5 wickets with the ball, 6 catches and was involved with 2 run outs. Highlights of the year were a diving
catch where even Matthew was a bit surprised when he looked up and he was still holding the ball, and helping the team to a desperate last
ball win by stealing a run with his batting partner Adam Langer.

Weetbix Twenty 20 Competition Report.
The Epping Green and Red teams combined this year for the Weetbix 20/20 competition and wow did they out perform! As a summary we
learnt a lot about how to play the 20/20 game and even the rules! All
of the boys in the squad contributed at different stages. The most crucial game we won was against the side Normanhurst that finished
number 1 in the preliminary games. The semi’s had 4 teams (we were number 4). With a brilliant batting display by Will Evans coupled with
some excellent bowling by Hayden Miller, Lachlan Carfax and Kaden Thornton + some great fielding run outs and catches saw us make the
final for the Northern Districts of Sydney. In the final we bowled and fielded exceptionally well but our usually reliable batting just did not
give us the start we needed and we fell short by 20 runs. To the parents and boys I was so proud to be your coach, you did so well. Our
biggest lesson was – keep turning over the strike running at every opportunity, accurate bowling and exceptional fielding. To all the boys
well done!

TEAM REPORTS
11
Under 9 Red
As a coach it is so pleasing to have a team such as I had to work with. The kids were enthusiastic and seemed to genuinely have fun both
during the games and at training; the “catching game” was a particular
favourite at training sessions. Each child contributed to the best of their ability and had fun and that surely is what cricket or any kids
sport is about in its purest form.
From my own viewpoint the most exciting aspect was to see the skills improvement made by all our team throughout the season. I also liked
the camaraderie that grew within the team as the season progressed. This was evident with team members showing respect for others within
our own team and also the opposition and each game finished with a cheer and a handshake for the opposition, irrespective of the result.
There is some fine talent within this team and I hope that they
continue to play the great game of cricket a long time. I look forward to seeing great accomplishments by this group collectively and
individually in the future.
In finishing I would like to offer a big thanks to Cassandra Kirk, our
manager and cricket tragic, for so ably managing the team. Also a big thanks to Russell Fernandopulle whose encyclopaedic knowledge of
cricket generally and cricket coaching in particular was pivotal to the children’s skill development.
Eugene Sheehan (Coach)
Under 9 Red Player Reports Senara Perera
Well done Senara on a terrific season. Her contribution with bat and ball was very important to the team. Senara is a very polite and self
assured young lady and more than capable of competing with the boys. Definitely one of our best players and we were unfortunate in that we
were denied her skills for a period due to an extended overseas holiday. I look forward to seeing her play a lot more cricket in the
future.
Cameron Fernandopulle
Cameron is an intelligent and thoughtful boy and is much liked by his fellow team members. Cameron showed great improvement during
the season and was always reliable with the bat. He prized his wicket
greatly and never got out easily. Cameron will only improve as he plays and practices more and he is a kid I would have in my team any
day.
12
Under 9 Red Player Reports – continued.
Ben Gangemi
Ben was one of the two dynamic Gangemi’s we had in the team and he
got better and better as the season progressed. His bowling improved tremendously and he made some valuable contributions to the team
with bat in hand also. During the latter part of the season his fielding improved enormously and again Ben will only improve as he practices
and plays. I look forward to seeing a lot more good things cricket from Ben in the future.
Nick Gray
Nick is a naturally talented cricketer. All things cricket come naturally
to Nick whether it be batting, bowling or fielding. Nick has a great eye and a strong arm. Although if I had to pick him for one I think bowling
will be his forte. Handing the ball to Nick to have a bowl is like flicking a switch, the first ball bowled is the same perfect line and length as the
last. I look forward to seeing Nick play a lot more cricket.
Matthew Hogan
Matthew had a very good season and made a big contribution to the
team. His bowling improved tremendously through the season and he took some valuable wickets for us. Matthew genuinely enjoyed his
cricket this year and when you consider that this was his first year out of Milo cricket he has a lot to be satisfied with. I hope that Matthew
continues to play as he will improve more and more.
Oscar Kirk
Oscar just loves cricket and is always striving to improve his game. This paid dividends no place more than with his bowling which
improved markedly through the season. Oscar made some great
contributions to the team with bat and ball and it was a pleasure to have him in the team. His fielding was a particular highlight where,
with his sharp eye and good arm he was able to affect some great run outs. He also batted well and had some fine innings for the team.
Dominic Micallef
Dom is a great sportsman and a great sport, an absolute delight to
have in the team. When you consider that Dom had not played cricket until this year his improvement was exponential. Dom was one of our
best. He had some great displays with bat and ball and took one very memorable catch. Dom is well served by a good eye, a great pair of
hands and a calm temperament. I hope to see a lot more of Dom playing cricket in the future.

Under 9 Red Player Reports – continued.
Alessandro Muranty
Alessandro is a fine boy and has a great personality; I enjoyed having
him in the team. He is always ready to have a go and put in many fine performances for the team with his bat. His bowling and fielding
improved throughout the season and overall his game improved vastly. Alessandro is a talented sportsman and is accomplished at a number of
sports and he can now add cricket to his list. I hope that he will continue to play cricket and expect many good things from him in the
future.
Laurence Sheehan
Laurence is a very fine cricketer and passionate sportsman, he has lots of ability. Laurance always found a way to get “into” the game
whether it was with bat, ball, fielding or even a word of advice for the coach Laurence was always making a positive contribution. Laurence
took many wickets and scored lots of runs for the team, his energy in
the field was infectious and he celebrated others achievements with the same joy as his own. Laurence will simply get better as he plays more
and I look forward to seeing many good things from him in the future. A special thanks from Russell and myself for all his coaching advice.
Liam Cleary
This is another boy who has plenty of ability and made some great
contributions with bat and ball. Liam was our youngest team member but he fitted right in and there was no discernable difference in his
ability to the older boys. His most memorable effort was in our last game where he took two wickets and had a runout off his bowling.
Liam was great to have in the team and I love his attitude and easy smile. I expect to see many more good things from Liam in the future.
Adam Gangemi
Adam for me embodies the concept of the “coach’s player”. His positive attitude and his willingness to listen will serve him well in any
sport he chooses to pursue. Adam had not played cricket before this season but by applying himself and wanting to improve his progress
was stellar. And by seasons end Adam was one of our best, his bowling improved beyond recognition and his ability to repeatedly bowl a good
line and length was astounding. I hope Adam continues to play cricket as I believe it is a sport he could do well at.
14
Under 9 Green
This year was a big step up from the Milo cricket and the boys all came together and started their first year of competitive cricket. They all
improved significantly throughout the year, learnt the skills of cricket,
sportsmanship and above all else made new friends and enjoyed themselves. There were some great performances in all facets of the
game, catches, run-outs, bowling and some solid batting in tight encounters.
I look forward to working with the boys again next year.
Derek McCarthy (Coach)
15
Under 10 A promising start to the year, with an excellent win in our first game.
However, we struggled in the lead up to Christmas with both sundries and running between the wickets a steep learning curve for most of the
boys. Some hard work and plenty of determination saw our sundries cut in half for the last game in 2010 and a second win just before
Christmas was a great reward for the boys leading into the break.
After Christmas, our running between the wickets improved dramatically and we were consistently scoring more runs each game.
Despite going down in a couple of close results in February the boys were again rewarded with a great finish to the year winning their last 2
matches to finish 3rd on the table.
Congratulations to 3 of our boys who represented Northern Districts in
the U10’s Junior Representative Team this year: Cameron Every, Cameron Timmins-Smith and Matthew Henning.
Several players from other EDCCJ teams filled in for us this year and
we appreciate your efforts: Naba Haider, Henry Kirk, Oscar Kirk, Laurence Sheehan, Dominic Micallef, Nicholas Gray and Ryan Delaney.
Thanks to David Hocking for a great job managing the team - even
when overseas and in different time zones.
Finally, thanks to all the parents who helped out throughout the year – at training (especially when I was unable to make it), putting out flags,
scoring, organising batting lineups etc.
Look forward to seeing you all again in 2011/12.
Mark Henning (Coach)
Under 10 Player Report
Cameron Every
One half of the damaging ‘Cam-inator’ partnership and was one of our leading wicket takers. As captain, Cam did a great job keeping the
team motivated in the field.
Nick Russell
Topped the averages with the bat, thanks to his cracking pull shot. Worked hard on his bowling throughout the year and was always alert
in the field.
16
Under 10 Player Report – continued. Aidan Kirkpatrick-Jones
Aidan’s first year of cricket and he worked hard all year on each aspect of his game. Great improvement shown in both bowling and batting.
Cameron Timmins-Smith
The other half of the ‘Cam-inator’ partnership. Top run scorer for the
team and a strong all-rounder, performing well with the ball and at wicket keeper.
Adam Langer
Another in their first year of cricket. Natural out-swing bowler and was
amongst the wicket takers this year.
Matthew Henning
Passionate cricketer and one of our top performers with bat, ball and in
the field.
Jarrod Hocking
Found his bowling mojo after Christmas and ended up our equal leading wicket taker. Had 2 chances to take a hat trick…… both on the
same day.
Paddy Morrison
A committed cricketer with a great attitude, Paddy worked hard at all aspects of his game, showing improvement throughout the year.
Jethro Thornton
Fast bowler who always worried the batsmen. Big improver in the field who anticipated catching opportunities – our leading catcher this year.
Sam Cleary
Big hitting batsmen who unfortunately left us to join his school team
after Christmas

Under 11 The Under 11s had a wonderful year where all the boys had lots of fun and
where they all individually developed their skills. The boys always arrived to training and the games early every week and usually didn’t want to leave with most training sessions running way over time, much to the angst of a
few mothers awaiting dinner.
We came ever so close to making the finals - beaten by a wet morning and a pitch that made it unplayable after the rain fell. We had 250 runs on the board and on the second day we had the opposition at 1 for 11 after 11
overs. The rain was patchy and all the other games were able to be played, and because of this we fell short of a finals birth by 3 points.
The boys did extremely well and ended finishing 3rd in the competition. They always played all their matches with the right attitude. We suffered 4 losses
for the season - 2 against the standout team Dundas United and 2 against Epping YMCA Red, with these teams going through to the finals. We had 7
players that came from last year’s under 10 Red team, 4 from under 10 Green team and 3 new players join the club. It was great to see all the boys gel and playing well together.
It was a hard beginning of the season juggling 14 players, knowing that at
the end we were going to lose quite a few players to private schools. Luckily we had a few players playing up, so we made sure most got a game by either playing for an Under 10 team or and an Under 12 team. Many thanks to
Cassandra Kirk for organising the under 10 substitutions and liaising with Craig Menzies from the NDJC to allow it to happen.
Our batting improved all season, and we finished being the highest run
makers in the competition. This was helped out by Connor Salmon making 100 no, and 50s to Thomas Steele, Henry Kirk, David Williams and Naba Haider.
There were some great bowling efforts throughout the season. Our most
consistent bowler was William Kent taking 14 wickets, followed by the spin twins Thomas Steele 12 and Naba Haider 9, and fourth best wicket taker was Angus Michie on 7. In the field we had some great run outs and catches
during the season, with 7 catches going to William Kent. The wicket keeping gloves were the kiss of death this season with Thomas Wicks taking 5 catches
and assisting 2 run outs only to leave the team in mid November. David Williams took over the role and took 2 catches before moving to Dubbo over the Christmas period. The gloves were shared around and everyone who put
them on did a great job.
I would like to thank the manager Anna Grigson, and all the parents who always came along to watch and support the team and to help score. A big thank you also to Nass Haider, Nudgee Haider and Bill Williams who always
helped out at training. A final thank you also to James Kent for always assisting with either umpiring or scoring every Saturday. I had a great year
and would like to thank the boys for their constant enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
Simon Grigson (Coach)
20
Under 11 Player Reports
Sam Collins
This was Sam’s first year of cricket and he developed in all areas of the
game. 2 catches, a run out and highest score of 14 all contributed to a great season for Sam. He liked fielding at square leg, with great skills
and a good throwing arm. In the second last game of the season Sam helped us get the win by a not out 4 as the last batsman; he followed
this up in the next game pulling two consecutive balls for 4, with another 4 in the next over for his highest score of 14.
Ryan Delaney
This was Ryan’s first season of cricket, and it was great to see the
improvement in his game. His fielding developed during the season, and he became more aware of backing up and more accurate in his
throws back to the stumps. His best bowling figures were 1-3 against YMCA Blue, which couldn’t be better since it was the boys he plays
soccer with.
Lakshan Fernando
Lakshan played with Epping Green last year. This year he bowled really
well and in particular against the Waratahs, in the first match against them had a maiden over and second match ending up with 1-3.
Lakshan’s highest score of 5 undervalues his batting, in that game twice the ball pulled up only millimetres from the boundary.
Michael Gray
Michael was one of the Epping Red players from last year. Michael is a
very talented young player, with bat and ball. This year he had a top score of 44 runs, 1 catch, 1 run out and best bowling figures of 1-0.
Michael’s 44 showed all his batting skills with 7 fours. He can hit loose
balls hard and drives the good ones. He is also very good at taking a cheeky single.
Thomas Grigson
Thomas was another Epping Red player from last year. Thomas had a best bowling figures of 1-16, took 2 catches and highest score of 35no.
It was great to see Thomas develop his batting this year, and the 35no set up the team for a good win in the final game of the season.
Thomas’ 35no included 5 fours showing the new confidence in his batting. He mostly played pull shots even if they were on the middle or
off stump. He combined well with Will Kent and as always made sure he was able to grab every single that was on offer with great running
between wickets.
21
Under 11 Player Reports – continued.
Naba Haider
Naba was also in Epping Red last year. He had another solid
performance this year, Naba has a lot of practice and it shows. Naba was selected for Under 10 district on last year’s figures and impressed
again this year.150 runs for the season with HS of 52 he has a nice straight bat when driving the ball, defends well, but can punish a loose
ball. He has bowled his spinners well this year with flight, turn and accuracy - 9 wickets best bowling figures of 2-0, 3 catches and another
2 catches as wicket keeper.
William Kent
William is a newcomer to the club. He was our opening bowler and was very impressive. He has a great bowling action, and gave few runs
away with the clubs best economy rate of 1.25 and best average at 4.33. In his 49 overs there were 12 maidens, 15 wickets for only 63
runs. Best bowling figures 3-2. Will also did well with the bat a great
driver of the ball and loved playing square of the wicket, his best batting was a quick 45 including 9 fours against Carlingford Waratahs
in December.
Henry Kirk
Henry was in Epping Red last year. Henry was selected to play Under 10 district. Henry loves his cricket and practices as often as he can.
One of our faster bowlers with an intimidating run up, he was unlucky not to have more wickets, his best bowling figures was 1-2. Henry is a
great batsman, and hits the ball hard, this year he has worked on technique not just raw power and it has paid off with scores of 54,
27no and 30 in three of his last 4 innings.
Angus Michie
Angus came from Epping Green last year. Angus changed his bowling
during the season from medium pacers to spinners; the one thing that didn’t change was his ability to take wickets. Angus was great at
breaking up a partnership, he took 7 wickets during the season, and his last wicket was a fantastic caught and bowled.
His best bowling was 2-5 against the top team Dundas United. Angus took 2 catches and his batting improved during the season, with 2 not
outs from 7 innings and a best score of 6no helping secure a win against Carlingford Waratahs.
22
Under 11 Player Reports – continued. Thomas Russell
Tom came from Epping Reds. Tom loves his cricket - both training and playing. His batting improved and through his 18no against Oakhill
secured a win for us, as this was our closest match of the season, only just getting over the line with no batsmen left. The biggest
improvement in Tom’s game this year was his running between wickets, not one run-out during this season, 4no out of 7 innings. In
bowling Tom got 4 wickets this year, had a couple of maiden overs and 2 wickets against Dundas. He is always alert in the field and had 2
catches (1 in the u12) and involved in a run out.
Connor Salmon
Connor came from Epping Reds. 100no against West Ryde Rovers, was a great knock with 11 fours and an impressive array of shots, played
really well to balls down the leg side and was a delight to watch. He
was a great opening batsman for our team and scored well, 240 runs from 7 innings with 3no and an average of 60. Connor also bowled well
getting 5 wickets with his best figures against YMCA Blue - 2 overs the first being a maiden followed by a 2 wicket maiden for his second over.
He took 3 catches & fields well. He likes putting on a helmet to field silly point or short leg when the spinners are bowling.
Thomas Steele
Thomas was in Epping Green last year. Thomas captained the side this
year, and was very impressive with fielding positions and spurring the team on. He was always thinking about how to best manage the
situation, with the “all we have to do is…..”. Thomas is competitive wanting the team to win but when the opposition was short a player
Thomas would offer to field (probably would have batted given the
chance). He got off to a ripper of a start with 50no first game, with a total of 150 runs for the season. His batting technique improved
through the season, and finished with an average of 25. In bowling he bowled off spin effectively, with good turn and flight bowling 37 overs
for 12 wickets 7 maidens and 94 runs with best bowling figures of 3-9.
Thomas Wicks
Tom was in Epping Green last year. Tom only played 5 games for us but as wicket keeper took 5 catches, another catch without the gloves
and assisted in two run outs. It was unfortunate to see Tom leave.
23
Under 11 Player Reports – continued.
David Williams
David was in Epping Red last year. He was selected to play Under 10
rep from his impressive results last year. David started bowling where he left last year, taking 4-10 in his first match. David only bowled in
the first 4 matches before taking on the role of wicket keeper, then taking 2 catches and assisting a run out. David’s batting was again
very good he had an average of 45 with top score of 50 no. David played 6 games for us this year before his family made a tree change
and headed to Dubbo to live.

“Super effort that” would summarise our season
Last year we came at the bottom of the competition and this year with some new players and a team that worked hard on their skills, we
achieved 3rd just missing the finals.
From a coaches point of view the team worked as a team. We started the season understanding that no one in our team was perfect and that
we always had to be positive. Added to that – strong captaincy from Joshua Stern with great support from our joint Vice Captains Jack
Parkinson and Lachlan Carfax, excellent fielding, accurate bowling and some superb batting from all out players were highlights.
The boys also played with a great spirit being exceptionally honest
about balls that went for 4 or if they had caught a ball or not, even in tight situations. The boys never took it easy on the opposition applying
pressure and positive talk to overcome the opposition.
A number of our team also participated in the Weetbix 20/20
Competition with Epping Red. Talk about over achievers the team made the Northern Region final for the 20/20 2 games off playing at
the SCG in the final a truly tremendous effort. The team only fell short by 20 runs in our final game and on their day could have definitely
won.
I have had some great support this year from the entire parent body but would like to thank Michael Stern who stepped in and helped on a
number of occasions throughout the season our regular scorers Ian and Shiva.
Next year will be a year where the team can definitely start the season
with the finals in mind.

You only need to look at the stats to realise that Lachlan is a great
cricketer and loves the sport. Lachlan obtained the most wickets in our team for the season 30 in total and scored 350 Runs (4 not outs) took
8 Catches and 2 run outs. Lachlan also vice captained the team in the second half of the year and was a member of the 20/20 squad. A
highlight of Lachlan’s year was the fierce bowling he developed over the season and one of the best catches I have seen at short cover in
the 20/20 final.
Sam Gibbons
Sam had one of his best years yet in the club with his batting and
fielding developing throughout the year. Sam took some great catches and runs outs in the field + some good leg spin bowling. Sam played in
the 20/20 squad and unfortunately broke his arm and could not play
the second half of the year but will be back next season. A highlight for Sam was how he was still dedicated to the team after hi broken arm
coming to all but 1 of the games.
Lachlan Hilton
Lachlan had a year were he learnt a lot about his batting in particular.
Starting off with some good runs then a number of innings were he was out playing across the line. The highlight for the team was after
Christmas Lachlan scored a match winning 32 not out and did not play across the line. We will see plenty of runs from Lachlan in the future.
We also saw some promising bowling and fielding.
Hamish Joslin Hamish also had a year were he stepped up. One day we decided
Hamish should go keeper and really put his body on the line doing a great job and from then on he had found his calling. We also saw a
terrific inning from Hamish at a critical stage in the match scoring 18
runs a new highest score and getting the team home for a win against the top side.

Under 12 Green Player Reports – continued.
Kyren McIntosh
This Kyren showed he could bat, bowl and field if he put his mind to it.
Kryen achieved a new highest score with the bat, contributed in some great run outs and took a one handed crucial catch getting the other
team’s top batsman out. It was a good year for Kyren and he was also one of the most consistent team members at training and matches.
Rick Nehru
Rick had never played Saturday cricket before, only trained for cricket
in the nets and he joined the team for the second half of the season. Well Rick opened the bowling most games, was ferocious with the bat
and had the strongest throwing arm in the team. Rick had a great first season bagging wickets each game + runs and contributing in the field
with fierce determination. It would be great to see Rick with a full season of stats.
Jack Parkinson
Jack was a very enthusiastic and big contributor to the success of the
team this year. His stats are very impressive with close to 400 runs for
the season, 21 wickets, run outs, catches and generally is a class all round cricketer. Jack was VC for the first part of the season and
worked well with his good mate Joshua Stern. Highlights of Jack’s year would be the 137 run partnership with Josh, 95 not out and 3/4. Jack
was also in the 20/20 squad and Wicket Kept, Bowled and batted with great skill.
Tejas Rajagopalan Tejas had worked hard on his batting in the off season with a really good technique. This did not show in the scorebook but the season was
one I am sure he will look back on as a foundation year. Tejas was a great fielder getting some good catches and his bowling after a
Christmas trip to India improved greatly in the New Year. Tejas was also part of the 20/20 squad.
Amanpreet Sandhu Aman was a consistent performer this year with the ball, in the filed
and the bat. He really focussed hard on his batting and we saw his technique improve greatly throughout the season. Aman when bowling
regularly got 2 wickets an innings and took some good catches. I know with Aman’s determination that big runs are only a season away given
the patience and determination he showed late in this season.

Under 12 Green Player Reports – continued.
Joshua Stern
Joshua had an amazing season with the bat, in the field and with the
ball. Highlights were 3 runs short of 500 runs this season, 13 wickets bowling, 15 catches (2 at first slip that were screamers), 6 run outs,
137 partnership with Jack and 151 not out on a 42C day. Coupled with this Josh’s captaincy was respected by the whole team displaying an
excellent knowledge of field placements, bowling changes and strategy. Josh also captained the 20/20 side that had great success. Truly a
great all round performance well done Josh.
Kaden Thornton
Kaden had a great year with the ball, fielding and bat. Highlights were Kaden getting a new highest score with his new bat, 12 wickets for the
season, runs outs and some brilliant catches in close. Kaden’s bowling is a real feature and was unlucky not to get more wickets. Bowling leg
and top spin he often confounded batsman. He was also a part of our 20/20 squad that performed so well.
Harry Turner
Harry was a great encourager and motivator for the team. His bating
improved with every game; he bowled well and was very capable in the field taking some great catches and run outs. Harry was a member of
the 20/20 squad and took some excellent catches in critical games that helped put us in a great position to be very competitive in the finals of
that competition. Harry proved himself as a good all round cricketer and I am sure we will see more runs, wickets and catches next season.

Under 12 Red
So near, yet so far would be how I describe this season. Sitting in
second place with three games to go, all we needed to do was win two out of the three to qualify for the final, but it wasn’t to be. A
disappointing performance against the YMCA scuttled our chance.
All that said, I think the boys had a good season overall, finishing 4th in the competition behind the other Epping District under 12’s team, the
Greens with 8 wins, 4 losses and a 2 draws from our 14 games.
It was a season where the boys started to see where they might fit into a cricket team either as a batsman, bowler or someone that can do a
bit of both. They continued to improve during the season and combine
well as a team in a competition where there wasn’t a whole lot between the top four or five teams.
Some of the boys played in the Weet-Bix Cup Twenty20 competition in
a combined U12 Red and Green team. This was a great experience for the boys as they combined well to play some great cricket that earned
them a spot the Sydney North Regional Finals where they experienced playing on turf for the first time and were narrowly beaten in their
attempt to make the Sydney wide semi finals. It was a sterling effort for which all the boys should be congratulated.
I’d like to thank all the parents for their support during the season and
helping out with the scoring each week, it was much appreciated.

Under 12 Red Player Reports
Charlie Cale
Charlie had a great season with the bat this season, topping the batting aggregate and averages and scoring his maiden century of 106
not out in the process. He has started to see the benefits of playing
straighter with some consistent scores in the later part of the season testimony to this approach. Well done Charlie. I look forward to seeing
you back next season.
Elliot Carwardine
Our teams Mr Enthusiasm. This season saw Elliot achieve a new high score with the bat of 69 not out in a partnership of 145 with Matty
Chung. Elliot is also developing into a handy medium fast outswing bowler capable of taking the new ball. It was Elliot’s contribution with
the ball that renewed his enthusiasm for the game and I look forward to catching up with you next season Elliot.
32
Under 12 Red Player Reports – continued.
Matthew Chung
Matty has improved greatly as a cricketer since taking up the game
last season. He is now a very handy swing bowler who is learning to swing the ball both ways. He also scored his first 50 this season when
he contributed 62 not out in his partnership with. Well done Matty.
Brayden Dilley
Brayden had a big season this season where not only did he play a specialist openers role for us that saw the scoring of a maiden half
century, he was selected to play for the NDCA’s Under 11 representative side in the Creak Shield as an opener where he played
strongly and he played in the Weet-Bix Cup that made the Sydney North Regional Final. He was often the cornerstone of any innings he
batted in and nearly ‘carried his bat’ on a couple of occasions. Congratulations on a fine season Brayden.
Will Evans
Our captain for the season who had a solid season with the bat where he fell agonisingly short of a maiden century with 96 not out against
our other Under 12 team. Will also represented NDCA in the Under 11 Creak Shield side and played in the Weet-Bix Cup where he managed
an unbeaten half century in the Sydney North Regional Semi Finals in his first game on turf. Well done on a solid season.
Tom Farquhar
This season Tom’s bowling started to come into its own. His efforts
were rewarded by being one of our leading wicket takers and topping the bowling averages with 14 wickets at an average of 13.9 and were a
reward for some accurate bowling. When he came on to bowl, it was
often referred to as ‘Tommy Time’ because of his knack of taking a wicket with the first ball or in the first over of a spell. Tom also played
in our Weet-Bix Cup team. Well done on a fine season Tom.
Hayden Miller
Hayden really blossomed into a bowler of note this season. He shortened his run up and found a good bowling rhythm and this led
some good bowling and wickets that eluded him last season. With his height, I think he could develop into a useful new ball bowler as he
gets older. Hayden also worked hard at his batting during the season and scored a career high of 42 along the way. He was also a member
of the Weet-Bix Cup team.

Under 12 Red Player Reports – continued.
Kyle Jenkins
Had a quiet season this season, but always stuck to the task at hand
and was always there to support his teammates. He is a team player and always gives his best. I understand that Kyle will be trying another
sport next summer and I would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best.
Joshua Phillips
As per usual Josh went about his cricket in a no fuss manner. One our
new ball bowlers he was regularly among the wickets, or if not providing accurate bowling from his end. Josh loves bowling and taking
wickets and was rewarded by being the equal top wicket taker with Tom. He also is working hard on his delivery stride, which should see
him able to improve even further. Josh was also selected as a reserve for the Creak Shield team and played in the Weet-Bix Cup.
Lucas Schembri
Before transferring to private school sport, Lucas had a strong first two thirds of the season, scoring consistently with the bat and taking
wickets regularly with the ball. He was a real team player and loved to have a laugh. He will be missed, and I wish him in his sporting
endeavours at Kings.
Charlie Teirney
A quiet season by Charlie’s standards with only one score with the bat and a few wickets bowling, however he had an outstanding season in
the field securing 14 catches, including 5 as wicket keeper, equalling the highest number of anyone in the club. He also affected 3 run outs
and 2 stumpings. Congratulations Charlie, well done. Hope to catch up
next season.

Under 13 East
We started the season with boys who had played the previous season
in three different Epping District teams so the first challenge was to blend together into a strong unit. Our second big challenge was the
knowledge that, although we would start with 14, we would lose 3 of our experienced players half way through the season to private school
cricket commitments.
The strong Eastern Division competition had two stand-out teams with
the remaining six being quite even. We finished the season in 7th position having won 4 games and tied another. We were strong in
attack taking the 3rd highest number of wickets in the competition but at times we found it hard to bat through the 52 overs and build a big
total.
Our goals as a team were fairly straightforward: play as a team, improve our skills, have fun and see how many games we could win.
The boys developed a strong team spirit which saw us through some challenging moments when we were on the wrong end of some big
scores. To the boys credit they never gave up and kept on encouraging each other to keep pressing for that next elusive wicket. We celebrated
some exciting moments such as when we came from behind chasing a
big total to draw the match on the last ball of play. Each boy worked at developing his skills and it was evident in the last
game how much improvement some of the boys had made through the season. It was great to finish with a win especially considering we were
without two of our main strike bowlers.
It would be remiss of me not to mention the support of Steven Wood (our team manager and umpire) and Scott Pascoe (our scorer). Thank
you to all the parents and especially those who contributed at training sessions.
Well done boys . . . you were a pleasure to coach and are to be
commended for your enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the season.

37
Under 13 East Player Reports Robert Amery
Rob definitely saved his best to last. His final knock of the season was
a gem. Opening the batting he hit 61, the team’s highest individual score of the season. This season also saw Rob take on wicket keeping
and off-spin bowling for the first time. Rob took a total of seven catches during the season and made one stumping. Towards the end of
the season Rob’s bowling was becoming more and more accurate often getting some good flight and turn.
Jacob Browning
Jacob is an enthusiastic cricketer. He was reliable in the field and took 3 wickets bowling his medium pacers. While only having a top score of
6 with the bat he contributed to a number of late order partnerships. No one will forget the freakish one-handed, overhead catch Jacob took
in the game against Oakhill to dismiss one of their best batsmen.
Jack Cale
Unfortunately Jack was not able to play the whole season with us due to school cricket commitments. In his nine games he took 12 wickets
which made him the 14th highest wicket taker in the competition. His hard hitting aggressive style with the bat amassed him 145 runs from
9 innings. Jack is a very skilled all-round cricketer and is very capable with both bat and ball.
Matthew Davidson
Matt took 4 wickets during the season with best figures of 2/11. When his line and length is right he is a very nagging type of bowler who is
difficult to score off and he has the occasional ball that will surprise even the most accomplished batsmen. Matt’s top score with the bat
was 13 and he was a strong contributor in the field.
Jared Dries
Jared was our captain for the season and he led the boys well. He worked hard with both bat and ball. He provided stability to our batting
line up and could be depended upon to see us through the opening bowlers. His bowling was consistently accurate and he would regularly
take wickets for us. His outstanding effort has been rewarded with the
Intermediate Cricketer of the Year Award. (See separate report)
38
Under 13 East Player Reports – continued.
Mitchell Every
Mitch was another who couldn’t play the whole season due to school
cricket. Mitch is developing the challenging art of leg spin bowling. He often proved very difficult to hit due to his flight and bounce. He
snared 10 wickets for us and could often be relied upon to break a batting partnership. Mitch is also evolving into a confident batsmen
demonstrated by a quick fire 25 in his last match.
Nathan Green
Nathan was one of the big improvers. After struggling with the bat in the previous season he became a crucial part of our batting line up. He
scored a total of 107 runs for the season with a highest score of 26. Having never kept before Nathan took on wicket keeping
responsibilities this season and quickly became a very dependable and accomplished wicket keeper. When he didn’t have the gloves on he
managed to take 7 wickets with best figures of 4/7.
Chris Johnson
Chris was the 11th highest wicket taker in the competition taking 14
wickets with best figures of 3/7. Chris is able to generate good pace and movement and was often unlucky not to have taken more wickets.
He is an excellent fielder with a good throwing arm and a safe pair of hands. He took 8 catches during the season which placed him 4th
highest in the competition. Chris has good technique with the bat and had a highest score of 20 not out.
Patrick Lane
It is always good to have someone in your side who smiles and says
‘yes’ when you ask them to open the batting and who smiles and says
‘yes’ when you ask them to open the bowling. Patrick is that man! It shows his versatility that he is capable of doing both. Pat’s highest
score was 15 and he has a good range of shots once he gets going. He has a smooth bowling action and can bowl very economically. Patrick
has the potential develop into a very good all-rounder.
Cooper Pascoe
Cooper was one of our main strike bowlers taking 14 wickets and our only bowler to take 5 wickets in an innings. (5/7 against Concord RSL).
He finished in the top 10 bowlers in the competition. Cooper combined with Nathan to score the highest eighth wicket partnership in the
competition. Together they put on 47 runs out of the team’s total of 87 to win the game.
39
Under 13 East Player Reports – continued.
Matthew Salmon
Matt was our opening batsmen and he often battled hard against some
fierce opening bowling attacks. He wouldn’t give up his wicket easily and would hang in there. Matt saved his best score to the very last
game when he hit a classy 27 runs. Matt is a reliable fieldsmen and a good team contributor. His bowling was developing well towards the
end of the season.
Simon Tao
Having not played the previous season Simon came in as a ‘raw’ but talented player. I was extremely impressed by his willingness to learn
and his commitment to train hard and work at his skills. His top score with the bat was 16 but it was his bowling that shows real promise.
Although only talking two wickets his unorthodox action has the potential to claim many more as he learns to control his line and
length. He capped of his season by taking a very good catch to remove
the last batsmen in the last game of the season.
James Tugwell
Unfortunately James was only able to play 7 games with us during the season. He still managed to compile 84 runs with a top score of 33.
James is a hard hitting batsman who is cool under pressure. This was never more evident than, when chasing a seemingly unreachable total,
he built a solid partnership with Chris Johnstone and scored 3 runs off the final ball to draw the game. James is also a very capable
wicketkeeper.
Tom Wood
Tom had a highest score of 14 and when he gets his eye in can hit the
ball a long way. If he can couple his powerful batting with some solid defence he is capable of building some big scores in the future. Tom is
also a very useful medium pace bowler with an unorthodox action. A reliable fieldsman and a great encourager, Tom proved himself to be a
valuable member of the team.

For the players let me say this first: no team operates without the support of the Rob Casey's of the world. Rob was there for the team
every week bar one when he was away for work and was a great support to the coach. Further to this what he did this year for the
whole Club was crucial. Every player, parent, coach and manager owes him something. Thanks Rob.
Now – the team. We lost some of last year’s players to other teams and worse still, other interests. A full squad came together when
Muneeb and Aidan joined us from West Ryde Rovers, Tom and Samir, from our Under 14 side and Damith was headhunted by our talent
scout and captain, Pasan.
It was also great to welcome back players from last season. There were twelve players from five schools and that led to much discussion
about variations in school assessments and results – and I’m sure other matters.
While 2010-2011 wasn’t the team’s best year the boys maintained
their intensity to the last match where they achieved their top score for the season.
Getting all players to perform their best on the same day proved difficult, so while there were some good individual scores unfortunately
they never happened in the same match. Travel, illness and other important commitments meant that for most weeks before the
Christmas break we fielded an under strength side; but that certainly didn’t worry the nine boys who turned up for Round 11 where they
achieved a teeth grinding four run win over St Patricks with Pasan bowling out the last batsman in the penultimate over.
While our captain experimented with different combinations to
strengthen our impact it was only in Round 11 that we were able to register a win. In the few times that we were forced to bat again
impressive performances by the boys avoided the outright loss and left the coach asking, “Where was that in the first innings?”

Under 15 West Player Reports
Navin Abeysinghe
Like most spinners at this level Navin had to buy his wickets – but he didn’t pay too much - 2/8 was his best in the first match of the season,
taking 8 wickets overall. The catch he took against YMCA in that same match was equal to any by his teammates – 15 metres away, shin
high, flat, fast and hard off the bat.
Tom Casey
Playing up a year, Tom’s hands improved as the season progressed, taking fine catches in rounds 13 and 14 – the first dismissing YMCA’s
batting dark horse (and former Epping player); the latter removing St
Patrick’s opening batsman. These were preceded by an impressive 2/7 in one over the previous match – our one win of the season. Well done
Tom!
Nick Dwyer
Always alive in the field Nick was one of our most economical bowlers (2.66). He waited till the second last round to take a wicket, finishing
the match 2/12. A fine catch against St Patricks and increasing economy made him a reliable opening bowler and as a fielder he also
participated in two run outs.
Pedro Gomes
Like last year Pedro was a fine fielder with a good arm. Pedro is
determined to improve. Fine bowling against the YMCA early this year went unrewarded but a difficult catch ensured that one of Carlingford
opening batsmen was dismissed. Pedro took five wickets with a best of 2/28.
Aidan Hess
Aidan joined us this year from West Ryde. Commitments other than
cricket made the first half of the season difficult but he knew where to be when fielding and was an ever present back up. Aidan’s bowling
determination was rewarded with 2/8 in one over against YMCA and helped ensure we didn’t register an outright defeat.
44
Under 15 West Player Reports – continued.
Nitij Mehra Like last year Nitij is a big hitter and when he moves forward with his
head down Nitij can send the ball low and hard. Nitij scored 16 and
21in his last two innings. Nitij’s bowling improved dramatically after his long mid season tour of the sub-continent and he finished with a best
of 2/12. Nitij’s running between wickets in the final match, urged on by his partner, Pasan, deserves mention and contributed to the highest
score.
Damith Mannaperuma Damith brought new talent to the team this season. Damith performed
well early to take 5/8 against the YMCA in Round 4 and when focussed he was a hard hitter with a good eye, top scoring with 29. Light on his
feet Damith is a good runner between wickets enhancing his big hits over the top. Unfortunately his top score was not repeated. What will
next season and an extra year’s maturity bring?
Daichi Moya
It was pleasing to see Daichi sign up for a second year with Epping. He continues to show a good eye and potential. Daichi played well at the
beginning and toward the end of the season. Increasing maturity will result in regular runs and wickets. Alertness and superb fielding in the
match against YMCA resulted in three run outs that was a bookend for the 24 that Daichi scored in Round 1.
Samir Sharma
One of the boys who agreed to play up a year, Samir worked hard this season and did some great work that went overlooked. When he
bravely agreed to be opening batsman early in the season Samir protected other batsmen from the opening bowlers with a constant
defence but was at the same time keen to look for the runs. Another year will see a big difference.
Saveen Sudarshan Again, this season Saveen was our most economical bowler (1.78 per
over). At one point in Round 13 Saveen was 7/6/0/1. That is tight bowling and it placed great pressure on the opposition. Saveen was
also solid opener with a leisurely style that with good timing could lift the ball well above the outfield. Five catches as keeper and three
catches in the field added to his record.
Muneeb Sulaman
Muneeb’s transfer from West Ryde brought a level of patience that the side needed. His thoughtful approach was unfortunately not rewarded
as it should have been. He scored 150 for the season with a bowling average of 2.2 per over and with 5 catches he was also second highest
wicket taker (12).
45
Under 15 West Player Reports – continued.
Pasan Waidyasekara Pasan took on the role of captain this year and worked hard at it,
thinking carefully about how to best bat, bowl and field his players. Our
win against St Patrick’s was largely due to the talent he brought to the match that day: 52 runs as well as taking 3 behind the stumps. Pasan
was the team’s highest run scorer (186) and took 6 catches as keeper for the season. The 5/7 with a hat-trick against YMCA was a day to
remember. Why couldn’t we win that match?

Under 16 West.
After the disappointing season last year, the Under 16’s had a relatively successful season winning eight matches and losing seven to
finish the competition in 3rd place.
Despite this, there is a feeling that we could have done better. After
all, we defeated both the eventual premiers and runners up and perhaps, if we had played a little better at crucial times, we would have
been in the final ourselves.
Nonetheless, we should be proud of the way we played the game – concentrating on how well our players were going rather than the
supposed shortcomings of the opposition. I’m sure all who watched us play thought this was a team of very good sports – a credit to their
club and their parents.
Again my thanks go to those parents who helped out and supported our team particularly regular and expert scorer, Peter Steffan, Dayan
Gunasekera who put the scores on the website, David and Natalie
Pinker who looked after and transported the kit and Paul Alice who helped with umpiring/scoring. Thanks also to Jill Steffan for again
providing much appreciated watermelons and Maria and Paul Alice for organising our end of year wrap up.
Once again congratulations boys on a good season and I’m sure you
will look back on the season of 2010-2011 with very fond memories just as I will.
I’d also like to say how much I’ve enjoyed coaching this fine bunch of
boys over the last 5 years and wish them all the best for the coming years. For those who continue to play competitive cricket I will take a
keen interest in how you progress.

Under 16 West Player Reports. Tom Alice
Tom was our equal leading wicket taker this year with 15 wickets at
15.93. His best performance was against Carlingford Waratahs when
he took a magnificent 5 for 8 off 5 overs! Tom didn’t have the best year with the bat, but will no doubt turn this around in the future when
he learns to tighten his defence.

Under 16 West Player Reports – continued.
Hayden Doria
Despite starting well in a number of innings Hayden never really got going this season often losing his wicket just as he was looking settled.
With a top score of 29 he managed 102 runs at 14.57 which is no doubt below his expectations. A little more concentration and better
shot selection will result in many more runs in the future. At times he bowled very well, but was hampered by a back injury
towards the end of the season. Malinda Gunasekera
Malinda had limited opportunities with the bat this year, but did
manage a handy 17 against Epping YMCA which included a number of impressive lofted drives. His bowling was steady and he took 6 wickets
with a best of 2 for 11.
Kendall Hunt
Kendall began the season in fine form with a hard hitting 28 against
Epping YMCA and ended the season scoring 132 runs at 11.00. With his well flighted off spinners he took 10 wickets at 20.90 with a
best of 2 for 22 against Epping YMCA. Our close in specialist, Kendall took 5 catches including a memorable one off his foot against
Carlingford Waratahs.
Joshua Jenkins
Josh bowled with more control this year and took 8 wickets at 21.13 with a best of 3 for 9. His best effort with the bat came against Epping
YMCA when he scored a hard hitting 15. His fielding was exceptional and he took 8 catches, the most by a fieldsman, and equal 2nd most in
the competition.
Myles Lego
Myles did not have a great year with the bat, but at times showed that he is developing a good technique. His leg spinners are also improving,
but he will need to develop greater control if he is to take wickets at a reasonable cost. His fielding was generally very good and he took some
terrific catches.

Under 16 West Player Reports – continued.
Regan Pinker
Regan had a good year with the bat scoring 238 runs at 21.64. His
best innings was against Epping YMCA when he scored his maiden century - 103 not out. Regan did a great job for us this year as keeper
taking 11 catches and 8 stumpings as well as assisting in 2 run outs.
Shashvat Sharma With his medium fast outswingers Shashvat proved a handful for most
batsmen and ended the season our equal leading wicket taker with 15 at 13.80. His best effort came against St Pats Gold where he took 4 for
11. His best batting came in the game against Epping YMCA where he scored a very good 69 not out.
Chris Steffan
Chris had an excellent year with the bat scoring 322 runs at 26.83 including 2 fifties. He was our leading run scorer and placed 2nd in the
competition. At times he bowled with some pace and took a best of 3
for 7 off 5 overs against St Pats Gold. He has a safe pair of hands and took 7 catches. A well deserving recipient of the Senior Cricketer of the
Year.
Will Tugwell For the first time Will was able to play more than a handful of games
and we certainly enjoyed the extra strength he added to our team. He had a very good season with the bat scoring 302 runs at 33.56, placing
him 3rd in the competition. The highlight of his year was his maiden century – 104 against St Pat’s
Gold where he completely dominated their attack. He also took 7 wickets with his medium pacers and took 3 catches.
Amol Verma As always Amol bowled his off spinners with beautiful flight and was
unlucky not to take more wickets. In fact, it wasn’t until round 6 that
he took his first wicket! He ended the season with 10 wickets at 15.00 with a best of 3 for 6 off 8 overs. His batting again showed
improvement and he surprised us all at training when he unleashed a couple of copybook off drives.
William Xie
William had a good first season with the club scoring 102 runs at 11.33
with a top score of 27 not out and taking 11 wickets at 14.73. His right hand round the wicket with a slingy action caused a few problems for
the opposition batsmen. William loves to hit the ball hard, but will need to improve his shot selection if he is to score more runs in the future.
