What are the benefits of ePlan Review? The ePlan Review process will provide a number of benefits, including immediate customer service improvements and significant cost savings for both the County and customers.

The ePlan Review system will provide a centralized location to store all documents and comments/responses in one location, making it easier to track the status of an application and ensuring that the most up-to-date set of plans are readily available to both customers and staff. The plan review process will incorporate standardized review comments and will allow for simultaneous review by County departments, rather than the current sequential review process. The electronic comment/response feature will promote code compliance in the design, development and construction processes, and transparency and accountability for customers. Multiple agencies within the regulatory function will be able to review plans at the same time, making the process faster and more efficient.

Electronic plan submission and review offers substantive cost savings for customers and the County. Customers will no longer have to print multiple copies of large plan packages and hand deliver them to each department or division that needs to review and approve them. The County will save money by storing digital rather than paper files. Currently, paper files from past reviews are being scanned into digital format to eliminate paper storage entirely.

Are there special technical requirements for using the ePlan Review submission portal?Documents are uploaded as individual sheets, saved as searchable PDF files. In addition, applicants using Firefox will need to download Silverlight.

What are the submission guidelines for drawings and applications under ePlan Review? For a successful permit application, you will submit plans via the ePlan Review portal much like you would with paper plans. However, there are several changes, including online submission of searchable PDF files, use of Standard File Naming Conventions, and the requirement to leave a 3” x 3” blank square at the top right corner of each submitted sheet. Refer to the ePlan Review Submission Requirements for a detailed list of submission guidelines.

How should I incorporate the standard file naming conventions? Can you provide an example?File names must be very specific to ensure auto-population within the ePlan Review system.

Document titles should begin with Discipline and Sheet type followed by a descriptive title. (Note: the system will not recognize spaces or other characters separating Discipline and Sheet type. Use only a single dash to separate Discipline and Sheet type. )

See Examples Below:A = Architectural (Discipline type)000-099 = General Site Information (Sheet type)

Using the Standard File Naming Conventions, the first page under Architectural general information would be:A-001 Architectural Cover Sheet GeneralInformation.pdf
