LIVING OUR FAITH

Thank you to the Epiphany Class of 1957 for inviting me to your party for the 60th Reunion. If any other Classes have re-unions in the future and would like to attend Mass as a group and be recognized, let me know. We would love to cele-brate with you. We need a new piano. Our piano is starting to not work correctly anymore, so we need to purchase a new one. We cur-rently don't have any money in the budget for one, so I'm hoping that some of you will be willing to contribute and we can raise the money for it. The cost is approximately $6,000.00. If you can contribute, please place your donation in the marked envelopes located at the entrances of church or note on the memo section of your check, “Piano” and drop it in the collection basket. I thank you for your generosity and I know that Elizabeth and the choir thanks you! Interested in becoming Catholic? Let me know, we can talk. Don't forget the PSR parent meeting this Tue! 6:30 pm in the Church for registration, questions, and time for the kids to meet their teachers. Tue Night Mass Time-Change Beginning in September, our Tuesday night confession time will change to 6-6:20 pm and our Mass time will change to 6:30 pm. This is so our PSR can attend the Mass with us. Mass Explanations - Why do priests and deacons wear fancy vestments? Priests, you may have noticed, don’t wear jeans and t-shirt to celebrate Mass. We have a specific attire that is required of us that comes down through history from the same attire that the high priest was instructed to use by God in the Tem-ple worship in Jerusalem. This attire also fits with the descriptions that St. John gives us of heavenly worship after his vision of the throne room of God. Here, he says, the saints wear long white robes, chant the sanctus, and use lots of in-cense. Because we are not at complete freedom to choose our attire, it is clear that a priest is not representing a private person but rather is standing in place of Christ. The human body itself is meant for resurrection, meaning that what we do with it and how we clothe it matters. When we clothe ourselves in beautiful garments, particularly for attendance at mass, we anticipate this future glory. Pope Benedict XVI applies this theology of clothes specifically to vestments when he recalls how the Prodigal Father calls for the very best robe to be put on his son who has returned. The robe, he says, is symbolic of the return of our human dignity after Adam had lost it with the original sin. O Lord, may we daily clothe ourselves with your presence.

FROM THE DESK OF FR. MICHAEL RENNIER

We welcome into our parish family our newly baptized:

Reese Hayden Griffin

Congratulations to the proud parents and families of our newest members! May the blessing of the Lord be al-ways upon them!

Stewardship

“Or who has given the Lord anything that he may be repaid?” - ROMANS 11:35 St. Paul reminds us of a central fact of stewardship. We cannot give the Lord anything, because God already owns it all. God made everything. All that we can do is return a portion of God’s many gifts back to Him. Sincere gratitude for our gifts opens our hearts to joyful generosity!

Shadow Visits and Family Tours at R-K

Check out Rosati-Kain and schedule your family tour today!

All 8th grade girls and a parent must schedule a family meeting prior to shadowing in the Fall. This is a casual meeting with Laura Schulte, Director of Enrollment Management, to have

a personal tour of the campus and fill out our student questionnaire. By meeting each family personally, we are able to provide a unique shadow experience for your daughter. We discuss the application process and answer any questions you might have about Rosati-Kain. This also eliminates any interview after applications are submitted. For more information or to schedule your tour, please contact Laura Schulte at [email protected] or call 314.533.8513 x 2215.

If you are a 7th grade family, visit our website for information about Kougar for a Day in the Spring.

Our Annual Fall Festival (formerly Homecoming) is just THREE short weeks away! Starting this year, Epiphany will be hosting our annual Fall Festival along with our neighbors Gateway Science Academy (GSA). Epiphany Homecoming will now be known as Epiphany/GSA Fall Festival. While GSA will be in charge of our children’s game booths and helping out in some other areas of Fall Festival, ALL of our main raffle proceeds directly benefit Epiphany of Our Lord. Last week you received a letter in the mail with two raffle tickets. We would like to encourage you to purchase a ticket. If the cost of a whole ticket is too much for you to incur then we suggest you participate in our, “Ticket Sharing Plan,” which allows you to purchase a ticket with 9 others by sending your name and $10 to the parish office. If your ticket is chosen, you get to split the winnings! Having a successful homecoming requires many volunteers! Even an hour or two of your time would be a great help. To volunteer to work one of our booths or for questions about fall festival, please contact Trish at the parish office, 314-781—1199 or visit us at: epiphanystl.org. Some booths that may need help include our outside and inside food booths, refreshment booths, country store, gambling booths, and of course our set up/tear down/clean up crews.
