The FBM KLCI index lost 0.28 points or 0.02% on Tuesday. The Finance Index in-creased 0.34% to 14873.44 points, the Properties Index dropped 0.01% to 1184.58 points and the Plantation Index down 0.52% to 7770 points. The market traded within a range of 5.25 points between an intra-day high of 1716.66 and a low of 1711.41 during the session.
Actively traded stocks include SUMATEC, EAH, AIRASIA, VIVOCOM, VIVOCOM-WB, SUMATEC-WB, ARMADA, AAX-WA, HSI-C17 and AAX. Trading volume increased to 1608.02 mil shares worth RM1456.44 mil as compared to Monday’s 1500.01 mil shares worth RM1480.09 mil.
Leading Movers were GENM (+10 sen to RM4.59), UMW (+11 sen to RM6.76), BAT (+82 sen to RM55.12), HLFG (+18 sen to RM15.20) and WPRTS (+3 sen to RM4.26). Lagging Movers were DIGI (-11 sen to RM4.74), IOICORP (-4 sen to RM4.47), ASTRO (-2 sen to RM2.90), KLK (-16 sen to RM23.86) and IHH (-4 sen to RM6.67). Market breadth was positive with 390 gainers as compared to 371 losers.
The KLCI closed flat at 1715 points, tracking overnight flat performance in US markets as investors await retail sales and inflation data later this week.
