Haiku Mobile Application for SmartPhones
Haiku is the mobile solution for accessing the ECUP EHR from a SmartPhone. It is available for iPhones
and Android phones. With Haiku, you can access patient charts, review your schedule, review patient
results, graph the results, review Care Everywhere documents, viewing and working in your InBasket,
and taking and uploading clinical photographs directly to the patient’s chart.
Haiku can be downloaded and installed on your device from either the App Store on Apple devices or
the Google Play Store on Android devices.
Configuring Your Device
If you are trying to configure your device for use with Haiku while on an ECU network, you must be
connected to the Buccaneer network. Because the Pirate network is an open, unsecured network, data
would not be completely secure, therefore, ECU has blocked Haiku access through Pirate.
To configure your device:
1. On your device, navigate to Settings and choose Haiku.
2. Fill out the following settings:
a. HTTPS: ON
b. Server: Haiku.vidanthealth.com
c. Path: Mobile
Logging In
After configuring your device you are ready to begin using Haiku.
1. Tap the Haiku icon on your device.
2. Log in with your usual EHR login ID and password.
3. The default login department that you will log in to will always be
the last department you logged into on the Desktop EHR.
Patient Lists
Upon logging in to Haiku Patient Lists will display. From here the user can view his personal patient lists
as well as see all shared and system lists. Use the lists to open patient charts. Across the bottom of this
main page are activity buttons. These buttons enable the user to view his schedule, go to the InBasket,
search for patients and, under the More button, log out and change departments.

Open a Patient Chart
To open a patient’s chart, simply tap the patient’s name. A patient summary
screen displays with the patient’s problem list, current meds, allergies,
immunizations, History, Demographics and selected pharmacy. At the bottom of
the summary screen there are activity tabs. Each tab takes you to a specific
activity. From these activities tabs a user can access past encounters, results,
notes, Patient Care Team, medications, Care Everywhere documents and a Links
page.
Taking Clinical Photos
When it is beneficial to take a photo of a patient, Haiku enables the user to do so and easily upload the
photo directly into the patient’s chart. To take a clinical photo of the patient,
Tap the patient’s photo in the header.
From the drop down menu that displays, select Take Clinical Image.
Haiku will use your device’s camera to take the photo.
Once you have the photo you need, tap Use Photo.
Enter a Document Type and a Description for the photo and tap Save.
The photo is uploaded directly to the patient’s chart and can be found under the Media tab in
Chart Review.
