Head Office Opens- CanadaEqual Opportunity Community Initiative opens its head office in Toronto, Canada. Big dreams and expanded efforts to grow our reach!

Building Blocks- Jordan2013 sees the launch of the Building Blocks project, sponsored by Future First, HSBC’s global education program for children at risk which implements two training programs; English LIVE and Bullyproof. The project aims to directly benefit 1,170 vulnerable children and youth during 2013-2015.

Bullyproof - Jordan60 children and youth from Dar Al Ria’ya and Al Hussein Orphanages benefit from 22 sessions of the Bullyproof program whereby participants gain confidence and self-defense guidance for a positive lifestyle.

Media Campaign- JordanLive mentions, 240 radio spots being aired; 10 billboards of outdoor advertising; and social media exposure to raise awareness and commitment to education and building skills. Special thanks to our media partners- Mood 92, Beat FM 102.5, and Seagulls.

Student Workshops - CanadaEqual Opportunity Community Initiative, Canada, holds workshops with 4th-6th grade students in Toronto introducing collaborative learning and cross-cultural communications between Toronto District School Board students and English LIVE participants in Jordan.

HSBC WORKS WITH THE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY INITIATIVE TO CHANGE THE FUTURE OF 1,170 DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN

HSBC Group has pledged US$15 million of additional funding to Future First, the Group’s flagship global education program that aims to tackle child poverty and youth unemployment through access to education. The additional investment will support more than 50 projects in 26 countries.

In Jordan, HSBC is partnering with the Equal Opportunity Initiative (EOI) to help disadvantaged children through the English LIVE and Bullyproof Programs over the next three years. With the extra funding, EOI aims to assist children and youth in gaining greater competency in English language, employable and communication skills as well as building self-confidence and provide enhanced opportunities for self-defense education for 1,170 children.
