Vision Systems

Envision Glass Walls by Vitro America include custom fabricated glass and unique styles of hardware to create glass walls, with or without entrances, allowing the maximum view of the interior space. The result is a remarkable layout and unique accoutrements of the Vision Systems to differentiate the overall building design.

Design Elements

Typically single lite in height, and may or may not include an entrance.

Add dimension to any design space.

Use a full rail system to complement the entrance door style or hide the glazing channel for a full view of the glass.

Create the illusion of a larger interior with no boundaries.

May utilize patch fittings, U channel or full rails.

Sidelite DetailsSidelites (fixed panels) may be designed using continuous horizontal rails top and bottom (bottom left diagram), rail on the top and a recessed U channel at the bottom (top right diagram), a rail on the bottom and patch fittings on the top, or other combinations of these options. Different combinations from Vitro America allow the flexibility needed to make any project effective, efficient, and remarkable.

Note:This glazing section is suitable for 3/8 or 1/2 glass.

Patch fittings are available in a wide range of styles, providing tempered glass assemblies that are technically sound and visually attractive. This range gives the architect or designer a variety of creative options for expression with toughened glasseither internally or externally. All fittings are based on a modular system, consisting of a base unit, functional inserts, and clip-on covers in an assortment of finishes. Glass preparations are quick and easy. Quality materials and thorough workmanship guarantee a long service life and a reflection of excellence for years to come.

Glass Clamps:

Glass clamps are ideal for use in mall fronts, mezzanines, partitions, railing and windbreaks. These clamps are available in a variety of finishes. The parts shown are designed for 1/2" [12 mm] thick glass. Similar styles are available for use with 1/4" [6 mm] and 3/8" [10mm] thick glass. Structural Glass Walls

Design Elements

Structural glass walls utilize point supported glass fittings to create glass walls by stacking glass panels.

Glass stabilizers (fins) may be used to provide structural support.

Stainless steel spider fittings provide a total all-glass vision without obstruction and maximum flexibility in design.

Most interior glass walls are designed using 1/2 [12mm] thick fully tempered glass.

Two-sided support requires glass to be supported at head and sill.

Three-sided support is designed adding fully tempered glass stabilizers (fins) to add structural support at the jambs.

A. Entry Doors

i. Approved Manufacturer: Vitro America ii. Glass: 1/2" clear tempered glass, horizontally tempered, tong marks are unacceptable. Warpage shall be in compliance with ANSI Z97.1, ASTM C1048-92 and ASTM 1036-91. iii. Rails and Fittings: Vitro America CL fittings as required by manufacturer. iv. Finish for Rails and Fittings: No. 8 polished stainless steel clad.

B. Sidelites

i. Approved Manufacturer: Vitro America ii. Glass: 1/2" clear tempered glass to match door glass. iii. Rails and Fittings: Vitro America CL fittings as required by manufacturer. iv. Finish for Rails and Fittings to match finish on door rails.

C. Transoms

i. Approved Manufacturer: Vitro America ii. Glass: 1/2" clear tempered glass to match door glass. iii. Rails and Fittings: Vitro America CL fittings as required by manufacturer.

3.0 Inspection

A. Contractor and sub-contractor are responsible to examine all areas and conditions within which glass doors and sidelites are to be installed. Do not proceed with any work until satisfactory conditions exist for proper installation of all materials. B. Install all materials in accordance with approved shop drawings, samples and manufactures literature.
