Environmental Stewardship

Guidelines for Oily Waste Pollution Prevention Plans

- Specific company policy on the storage, treatment and disposal of oily waste and bilge water management;

- Ship-specific instructions for: 1) determining waste streams (volume and type) and; 2) a routine budget process to account for wastes generated and include environmental compliance and maintenance expenses;

Environmental Stewardship Guidelines for Oily Waste Pollution Prevention Plans

o Ship-specific instructions, maintenance, troubleshooting, & operating procedures and controls and specialized equipment:

- ensure proper functioning of OWS, incinerators,& bilge water management and treatment systems.

- proper oily waste disposal.

- minimize waste/contaminant generation.

Environmental Stewardship

Guidelines for Oily Waste Pollution Prevention Plan:

- Procedures and equipment to minimize human error, tampering, and falsification of records, including the oil record book;

- Make system improvements such as by installing filters and pre-equipment to filter or polish out contaminants; and segregate clean water;
