Ambuja Cements Limited was set up in 1986. One of world’s most efficient cement companies
and 3rd in India. An annual plant capacity of 16 million tonnes
including Ambuja Cement Eastern Ltd. and revenue in excess of Rs.3298 crs.
Ambuja Cement exports almost 17% of its production.

First to introduce a Special Cell. The pollution levels at all its cement plants are
lower than the rigorous Swiss standards of 100mg/NM3.
BACKGROUND ABOUT CEMENT INDUSTRY
During 70s & 80s scenario was bad. On the shop floors of cement industries workers &
engineers had their faces covered with dust. Health conditions of these employees was bad. Even the farms were affected.

stewardship, employee welfare & community well being.”
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN CEMENT MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Green House Gas Emissions - Chemical Process of making clinker ( 52%) - Combustion of fossil Fuels in the kiln ( 36%) - Indirect emissions from purchased elecrical power ( 12%) Air Pollution- Dust Emission.

ENVIRONMENTAL TRACK RECORD OF AMBUJA CEMENT
GACL won 1st prize for EMS awarded by Gujarat Pollution Control Board.
GACL won Nation’s 1St Award on Environmental Performance instituted by Government of India.
The National Council For Cement & Building materials has been awarded “ National Award for the 2nd Best Environmental Excellence”.
GACL’s Ropar plant was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Environmental Award for Clean Technology.

The companies mines have been awarded various prizes & recognitions by the Directorate of Mines Safety & Indian Bureau of mines for environment protection, safety in operations & low noise, air & water pollution.
