Whether you are a classroom teacher looking for an exciting way to motivate your students or an educator working in a park, nature/environmental center, or other educational setting, the Master of Education degree is designed primarily for: Classroom teachers Non-formal educators Park Naturalists/Interpreters Since environmental education is frequently integrated into the curriculum, rather than addressed as a separate subject, the program helps students develop those competencies while increasing their understanding of societal interactions with ecological systems. Individuals with and without teaching credentials should enroll in this program if they have a strong interest in curriculum development and program planning for formal and non-formal educational settings. The graduate program in environmental education is structured to provide both depth and breadth in a variety of relevant basic and advanced study opportunities. Applicants must submit the following materials along with a completed online graduate application and non-refundable application fee: Official copies of undergraduate transcripts A statement of purpose/intent Environmental Education Master of Education College of Health, Environment, and Sciences www.sru.edu/Parks Program Description Program Highlights SRU’s Master of Education in Environmental Education program offers: Flexibility to fit your busy schedule with classes taught exclusively online Classes to meet the time constraints of teachers in the classroom by scheduling one course each fall and spring and two each summer over a two-year rotation. A 30-credit hour program that can be completed in two calendar years. Coursework that focuses on theory, practice, and application in environmental and outdoor education. Courses taught by University faculty with extensive experience in environmental education. Internships can be attempted after completing at least 18 credits in the program. *The educational policies and procedures are continually being reviewed and changed in keeping with the mission of the university. Consequently, this document cannot be considered binding and it is intended to be used as only an informational guide. Students are responsible for being informed of official policies and regulations for meeting all appropriate requirements. Tuition & Assistantships Information on current tuition and assistantships can be found on the main Graduate Admissions website at www.sru.edu/graduate.
