Government College of Engineering

Chandrapur (GCOEC)

Ballarshah Bypass Road

Chandrapur - 442 403.

Maharashtra State, INDIA

GENERAL INFORMATION

Chandrapur is the source of many valuable

minerals viz. coal, iron ore, limestone. Tadoba, a

national sanctuary, internationally admired tiger

reserve and forest in the nearby vicinity is

enriched with teak & bamboo plants.

Chandrapur is a prime industrial area, developed

by MIDC, various industries producing Cement,

Steel, Power, & Paper have thrived in the region.

INSTITUTE AT A GLANCE

Govt. College of Engineering, Chandrapur

established in 1996 offers six UG & two PG

programs, affiliated to Gondwana University,

Gadchiroli. Three UG programs viz.

Mechanical, Instrumentation & Electrical

Engineering are accredited by National Board of

Accreditation (NBA). The college is spread over

sprawling 62.5 acres of land, 5 kms away from

Bus Stand & Railway Station. The college was

selected by Govt. of India for Technical

Education Quality Improvement Program

(TEQIP) Phase-II. The institute has recently

signed a MoU with Tata Technologies Limited

(TTL) to establish Center for Invention,

Innovation, Incubation & Training (CIIIT). The

total cost of this project is Rs. 263.4 Core. under

which nine centers are established by TTL.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has

good infrastructure & finest academic facilities.

The department offers UG program (B.E.-

Mechanical Engineering) & PG program

(M.Tech- Mechanical Engineering Design). The

department is also recognized as Center for

Higher Learning & Research (CHLR) by

Gondwana University, Gadchiroli. The UG

programme is Accredited by NBA New Delhi.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The environmental impacts of the pulp & paper

industry have been significant throughout the

twentieth century & are still serious. This

resource & capital-intensive industry contributes

to many existing environmental issues, including

global warming, human toxicity, eco-toxicity,

photochemical oxidation, acidification,

nutrification & generation of solid wastes.

Rising concerns over such environmental

menace, not least air, water pollution & climate

change, have led to the introduction of new as

well as more stringent environmental policies

also. This I/R Programme will emphasis insight

knowledge regarding environmentally

sustainable manufacturing practices & related

processes used in process & pulp industries & its

challenges.

OBJECTIVES

To provide in depth knowledge about

Practices & Challenges of Environmentally

Sustainable Manufacturing processes used in process & pulp industries & its industrial applications

To elaborate on recent trends in Environmentally Sustainable Manufacturing

technologies used in process industry.

To develop & deploy advances in

measurement science to achieve sustainability across manufacturing

processes enabling resource efficiency &

production

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

This programme will bring awareness

amongst those who are associated with the

field of Mechanical Engineering/Civil

Engineering / Electrical Engineering/

Instrumentation Engineering/Biomedical

Engineering /Agriculture Engineering; and

may be research scholars, developers &

stake holders of the organization regarding

sustainable manufacturing processes.

Provide systematic path that will enable the

systematic & functional integration of unit

manufacturing systems & subsystems to

perform as a holistic environmentally

sustainable system.

Give insight to evaluate sustainable

performances such as energy & material

efficiencies, emissions, waste, & water

usage of manufacturing processes in process

& pulp industries.

TOPICS COVERED

Environmental responsible products &

processes.

Environmental regulatory requirements.

Environmental sustainable manufacturing

Energy Conservation.

Conservation of natural recourses

Integration of manufacturing systems.

Sustainable performances in energy material

efficiencies, emissions, waste & water

RESOURCE PERSONS

Experts from IITs, NITs, National Level

Research Institutes, relevant Industries & in-

house expertise.
