In order to launch and run Internet Native Banner (INB) (the current version of Administrative Banner), all computers must have the software, Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.6.0_04, installed. Your computer system will automatically prompt you to install this software if needed. If your system is running applications that already require this version of JRE or higher, you will not be prompted to install the software. NOTE: Mozilla Firefox will not install the correct version, therefore, the initial installation of JRE 1.6.0_04 should be completed using Internet Explorer, then Mozilla Firefox will run the correct JRE software.
Installing JRE Software
1. Follow the steps to log into Administrative Banner as usual either through oncampus.msstate.edu or from the Administrative Banner page, banner.msstate.edu.
2. Next, you may be prompted to install ActiveXControl which will appear below the browser toolbar as an Information Bar.
If the Information Bar window appears, click Close.
3. Click the yellow bar to see the options and choose Run ActiveX Control...
4. Next, on the Security Warning window, click Install.
5. You may be prompted to click Run again after the application’s digital signature has been verified.
If not, continue to Step 6.

6. The J2SE Runtime Environment 6.0 Update 04 - License window appears.
Check Typical setup and click Accept to move to the next step.
7. From the J2SE Runtime Environment 6.0 Update 04 - Google window, uncheck the following programs*:
--Google Toolbar --Google Desktop
Click Next to continue.
8. The JRE installation process begins and the software will be downloaded to your computer.
9. When installation is complete, the J2SE Runtime Environment 6.0 Update 04 - Complete window appears.
Click Finish to exit the wizard.
10. When the installation is successful, the INB Logon window should appear in the browser.
11. You have successfully completed the JRE Software Installation.
*NOTE: If you already have these programs installed on your computer, this step will be skipped during the installation process.
