Summary Oscillatorsareusedtogenerateperiodicsignalsforcarriers,clocksignals,andtest

Inasinusoidaloscillatorbasedonlinearcomponents,thephaseshiftaroundthefeedbackloopmustbezero.
LCoscillators,whichuseaninductorandacapacitortocreatearesonantcircuitthatsetstheoperatingfrequency,areusedforhighfrequencyRFdesigns.
Crystaloscillators,whosefrequencyissetbysoundwaveresonancesinapiezoelectriccrystal,areincludedinvirtuallyalldigitalelectronics.
Electronicrelaxationoscillators,whosefrequencyissetbythechargingtimeofanRCcircuit,aresimpleandinexpensive,foruseinnondemandingapplications.
Relaxationoscillatorsareinherentlynonlinearsystems,sotheyarebestanalyzedinthetimedomain,ratherthanthefrequencydomain.
