    rior to participation in any practicum/field experience, students must submit a copy of an official state or federal fingerprint or

    ackground clearance from their state. If students are seeking an Arizona Institutional Recommendation, they must have both an

    rizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and their own states fingerprint or background clearance documentation.

    ertification for IR Programs

    he Grand Canyon University College of Education is approved by the Arizona State Board of Education to offer Institutional

    ecommendations for the certification of elementary, secondary, and special education teachers, and principals only. Programs that

    ad to licensure contain a student teaching or internship component. Teacher and principal candidates are responsible for contacting

    eir state department of education for certification requirements and program approval. The Arizona Department of Education requires

    l individuals applying for full certification in the state of Arizona to take 6 credits of Structured English Immersion, a US/Arizona

    onstitution course (POS 301) and pass the professional knowledge test of the Arizona Education Proficiency Assessment.
