Enjoying GMILCS 3M eBooks using your iOS device

Download and Install the 3M App• Visit the app store by tapping

the App Store button

• Tap the search button and look for the “3M Cloud Library” app

• Tap the Install button to download and install the app

Set Up• Open the app and select the

following• State (NH)• Library (Your Library)• Library Card ID: Enter your 14 digit

Library Card Number (PLEASE NOTE, this cannot be your custom login for our catalog)

• Your password: enter the password you use to log in to our catalog

• Read and agree to the End User License Agreement

• Then tap Login

Finding books• You can find books several ways:• Search for specific titles or

authors by tapping the Search button at the bottom of the screen and putting in the name of a title or author

• Explore & Browse the collection by Category. Tap the categories button and navigate by subject area

Finding books, cont.Categories• Find a category you are interested in

(fiction, for example) and select it. • Sometimes there will be more specific

sub-categories, for example, Fiction Historical Fiction

• This will return a list of titles. Available titles will have green “Ready to Checkout” text

Search• Simply input a search term – a

title, author, or a keyword and it will return a list of titles

• Tap a cover of an available item to check out

Checking books out • After you have tapped the

cover of an available title you can read a description of the title by tapping the Show More button

• Once you’ve decided to check out, simply tap the green Check Out button

• The title will now appear on your My Books area

My Books• Tap the My Books button to go to your bookshelf• Then tap the cover of the book you would like to read to

open it

• You may also check in titles you are finished with by pressing the Check In button on the top right of the screen and tapping the X on the top right of the book cover

• You can also scroll down to the bottom of the screen to check your reading history by tapping the Reading History button

Reading your books• The Gear at the top middle of the

screen will open your settings and allow you to adjust text size and margins

• The i button will allow you to see more information about a title, and check books back in early

• The Magnifying Glass allows you to search the text

• The “X” allows you to close the book and go back to your bookshelf

• The Box at the top right allows you to set a bookmark

• The Slider at the bottom of the screen allows you to skip ahead in the book

Getting eBooks through the Online Catalog

• You can also use our catalog (http://findit.gmilcs.org/polaris) to search for 3M eBooks and check out. After you complete the checkout process and open the 3M Cloud Library app, the book will load automatically the next time you open the app.

• In order to search just for 3M titles, run a search using the terms “3M ebook”, which will return a list of titles in our 3M eBook collection

Searching the catalog, cont.• Your search will return a list of all of our 3M eBooks. If you didn’t run a 3M

only search, you can identify titles by the 3M logo under the checkout button

• Find the title you want to check out and click the Check Out button on the right. If a title is not available, you can place a hold using the Place Hold button. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to do so. After you log in, you will have to click Check Out for your title again.

• Verify the checkout and you’re all set• Enjoy your eBook!
