From the Golden Gate to Tinsel Town this tour itinerary includes must see places along the Big Sur coast on the Pacific. You can choose just the three day tour along the coast or combine it with San Francisco and/or Los Angeles to make it a 5 or 7 day package vacation. Tours in San Francisco, to Monterey, along the Big Sur, to Hearst Castle and in Los Angeles are with a driver guide on a motor coach or private sedan. From Salinas to San Luis Obispo and to Los Angeles you travel by AMTRAK Coast Starlight. The train has vista dome car for sightseeing and a dining car for meals.

3 days California Cypress Big Sur TourDay 3: (B) (D) San Francisco to Monterey, tour by motor coach or sedan. Time for lunch at Cannery Row. Stops are made at Pacific Grove, 17 Mile Drive, Pebble Beach and Carmel Plaza. In a chauffeured sedan continue south on California Big Sur Highway One past Point Lobos, Bixby Bridge and Point Sur Lighthouse to River Inn. Have a refreshment at this delightful place in the Redwoods. Stops are made along the way. Check in by 7:00 p.m. Bay Park Hotel, includes dinner and breakfast. Or Casa Munras Hotel no meals. Day 4: - Monterey to San Luis Obispo. 154 miles: At 10:15 Sal's taxi (prepaid) transfers you to Salinas Train Station. Amtrak Coast Starlight Train # 11 leaves at 11:48, just in time for lunch going through Salinas Valley, center of Monterey County’s agricultural region by the river and small towns, fields of lettuce, broccoli and acres of green houses. Around King City we see miles of newly planted vineyards where just a few years ago there was only cattle pasture. The oil fields appear and then the military installations at Camp Roberts. Passing Mission San Miguel we reach San Luis Obispo at 3:20. The hotel car takes you to Apple Farm Inn for overnight stay. Spend the afternoon in this interesting quintessential small college town with many wine tasting rooms and The Mission.

Day 5: - San Luis Obispo to Hearst Castle and Los Angeles. 80 miles tour and 258 miles train: The Wine Wrangler driver guide takes you about 45 minutes west to the coast and then on Highway One to San Simeon. Tour Hearst Castle and see the movie “Building the Dream”. Built by Julia Morgan during the 1920s and 1930s for the art collection of world famous newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst this 2 hour tour is ideal for first time visitors with an easy walk, a total of about 150 steps. Enjoy a picnic lunch. Return to San Luis Obispo. Board The Coast Starlight at 3:20. From Pismo Beach to Pt. Arguello through restricted Vandenberg Air Force Base see launch pads for the space rockets and then some of the most scenic ocean views all the way through Santa Barbara to Oxnard. Turning inland around seven the train goes past miles of orange groves then through Simi Valley to Glendale. At about 9:00 we arrive in the heart of the great metropolis of Los Angeles at the Union Station that you may recognize from many Hollywood films. Take a short taxi cab ride to Miyako Hotel, just a five minutes away. Cost about $10

3 days California Coast Ride 3 days / 2 nightsLOS ANGELES TO SAN FRANCISCO BY TRAIN AND BUS Los Angeles - San Luis Obispo - Hearst Castle - Monterey - San Francisco. Trip includes: AMTRAK train tickets to San Luis Obispo and Monterey. Two nights hotel room with tax. Day 1: Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo. 258 miles by AMTRAK Coast Starlight train. (D) Leave Union Station, Los Angeles at 10:10 a.m. (or Anaheim at 8:07 a.m. for additional $15 per person). Scenic train ride through Oxnard Santa Barbara and Vandenberg Air Force Base to San Luis Obispo. At 3:22 upon arrival in San Luis Obispo transfer by car to The Apple Farm Inn. Check in for the night and enjoy dinner.

Day 2: San Luis Obispo to Hearst Castle, 80 miles then by train and bus, 117 miles to Monterey. Day 3: Monterey Peninsula Tour - then to San Francisco. 154 miles by motor coach. (B). Enjoy a relaxing morning. Just around 12:00 you are picked up by motor coach from San Francisco for a tour of historic Monterey, Cannery Row, Pacific Grove, 17 Mile Drive, The Lone Cypress, Pebble Beach and Carmel Plaza. Leaving around 5:00 drive to Fort Ord then along the San Andreas Fault. Through Gilroy, Morgan Hill and San Jose the pace quickens and slows arriving in San Francisco around 7:30 p.m. The trip ends at your hotel.Tour Code LA2TC – Available Monday, Thursday, and Saturday except on certain holidays and weekends.

Tours of Yosemite National Park Yosemite Valley is about 210 miles south east of San Francisco. This information will be helpful in planning your trip.

TRANSPORTATION arranged by us is on comfortable AMTRAK train through San Joaquin Valley and full size YARTS bus on Highway 140. Leave San Francisco before 7:00 a.m. arrive Yosemite by about 1:30. The return trip starts at 4:00 or 6:00 reaching San Francisco after 10:00 or midnight. Go just for the day or spend a night or two at Yosemite View Lodge on the banks of Merced River in El Portal, near Arch Rock Entrance.

ONE DAY TOUR spends 3 or 5 hours free in Yosemite Valley. You see the essential sights and have free time at Visitor Center. This tour should be taken if you only have one day. Delays can occur. Cost of the trip is $136 to $141 per person.

TWO DAY TOUR spends a night in El Portal (about 12 miles west of Yosemite Valley) at Yosemite View Lodge by the Merced River. On the second day Glacier Point Tour in the summer and Valley Floor Tour all year can be booked in advance at additional cost.Tour cost - $366 each for two persons sharing a room, $519 for a single. On next day leave at 4:00 returning to San Francisco by 10:00 p.m.

THREE DAY TOUR spends two nights in El Portal at Yosemite View Lodge by the Merced River. On the second day Glacier Point Tour in the summer and Valley Floor Tour all year can be booked in advance at additional cost. You can spend the third day exploring Yosemite on your own until 4:00 p.m. returning to San Francisco by 10:00 p.m. Alternately leaving at 10:00 a.m. you can be back in San Francisco by 5:00 p.m.

TRANSPORTATION ONLY is available if you have booked your own accommodation. Cost $98 going up, $92 for the return. This works for Yosemite Valley Lodge, Half Dome Village, The Majestic Yosemite Hotel - all inside Yosemite Valley. It is also ideal for Yosemite View Lodge and Cedar Lodge in El Portal. There are hundreds of places to stay within a sixty mile radius west of Yosemite Valley. When booking a room in Yosemite area it is best to ask the staff at the hotel about transport, times and other arrangements. You may need a rental car to get around. Taxi, ride share or car service is not available inside Yosemite Valley. The nearest villages or small towns are about 40 miles away. Yosemite National Park FROM SAN FRANCISCO* STAY IN YOSEMITE VALLEY It is possible to stay right INSIDE Yosemite Valley at YOSEMITE VALLEY LODGE or THE MAJESTIC YOSEMITE HOTEL (formerly known as THE AHWAHNEE) if you book in ADVANCE. 2 day or 3 day packages include: Transportation with luggage, park entrance fee, room (with in room private bath) including tax, and Glacier Point Tour (late May to October) or Yosemite Valley Floor Tour year around.

Day 1: Pick up from any downtown hotel in central San Francisco area between 6:15 and 6:45 a.m. Comfortable AMTRAK train from Emeryville connecting to YARTS bus leaving Merced at 11:00 reaching Yosemite Park Big Arch Rock entrance is at about 12:00. Driving along south side of Merced River you see the Half Dome and waterfalls during winter, spring and summer months. The tour drop off at Yosemite Valley Lodge is at about 1:30 p.m. If you are staying at THE MAJESTIC YOSEMITE the shuttle takes you there. Check in is at about 4:00 so they store your luggage. You have time to take the free shuttle and get familiar with the area.

Day 2: You have reservations to take the Glacier Point Tour leaving Yosemite Lodge at 8:30 a.m. This takes about four hours and goes up to about 8,000 feet in elevation. When this tour is not operating or if the elevation bothers you the alternate is the 2-hour Yosemite Valley tour. Both of these tours include the Tunnel View stop for you to see magnificent sights including most of Yosemite Valley.

Day 2 or 3: Return trip starts from Yosemite Vally Lodge at 3:45 p.m. for departure by 4:00. Reaching Merced about 6:30 connecting to AMTRAK train reaching Emeryville by 9:45. Transfer to San Francisco. There can be traffic delays or late departure - please do not expect to catch a flight at night. If you are going on to San Francisco International Airport it is best to take a shuttle or taxi from the first stop or we can book a sedan at additional cost of $80. Package tours for two or three days are available all year by AMTRAK to Merced then YARTS bus to Yosemite, reverse for return.TO GO TO LOS ANGELES you can leave at 4:00 to Merced then take AMTRAK to Bakersfield and Thruway bus arriving in Los Angeles around 1:00 a.m (after midnight).Rates per person include round trip transportation with luggage, park entrance fee, room with tax, and Glacier Point or Yosemite Valley Floor Tour.
